I had left the Don’s office and immediately called Enzo. Alex may be the Boss, but Enzo was my brother, and I knew that I had to make sure that he would put Elena first.

“Come over to my place,” I spoke into the phone.

“What’s wrong?” he asked on the other side.

“Does there have to be something wrong? Be there in five.” Before he could say anything, I ended the call and started my car.

As I drove to my apartment, the look on the Don’s face kept replaying in my head. He was absolutely livid. The last thing I needed was for him to vent all that rage and fury on her.

“Damn, man, what was all the rush for?” Enzo entered my apartment, a little wet from the drizzle that had started earlier.

“You’re gonna have to guard Elena from now on.”

“What?”

“You’ll have to guard her.”
