LOGINI wake up the next day face down on Sel’s sofa, my right arm completely numb from where it had been hanging off the side all night. The minute I open my eyes, there is a sharp shooting pain in my head, and I quickly close them again and groan.
“Well she’s alive at least.” I hear someone say from above me.Turning my head to the other side, I open one eye to look up at Nico and Sel standing over me, each holding coffee, and smirking at me like parents who are about to tease me for something.“The fuck are you doing?” I croak, starting to shift myself over to lie on my back.“You’ve been asleep all day. We had just come to check if you were still breathing.” Sel teases.“Very funny.” I mumble, rubbing my eyes and yawning. “What time is it?”“4pm.” Nico answers, taking another sip of his coffee.“The fuck?!” My eyes fly open, and I sit up, whimpering as the headache stabs my brain again, and rummage around my body for my phone.“Your phone is still on lAuthor’s Note: TWO CHAPTERS LEFT!! I AM ~distressed~ ~ I relax into a full-body stretch as I wake up the next morning, the sheets falling from my arms as I lift them overhead. My muscles ache deliciously, and memories of last night flood my mind. Getting into bed. In the bath.Rhys’s house.I’m not left with my reminiscing for very long because suddenly I am very aware of the fact that David’s tongue is between my legs.Lifting the sheets to look down, David smiles up at me.“Good morning, darling.” He mutters, kissing up my stomach, across my chest and up my neck.It takes me a few seconds to sink into the bed, underneath his hands now running up my sides and pulling my body closer to his.“David…” I whisper, my brain not having the capacity to wake up fully, process everything, understand what my body is feeling.“Shhh, your coffee is on its way. Just give me five minutes.” His words dance across my skin, making it erupt in shivers.
I kiss him back eagerly, the relief flooding through my body. He still wants me. He wants to stay. This is the chance to fix things. I rush to undo the rest of his buttons as his tongue delves into my mouth, his hands coming back to my face, holding me as close to him as he can. When I start to push his shirt over his shoulders, he takes his hands away to help get rid of it, then he stands and starts undoing his belt buckle. I run my hands through his hair as he works to remove his clothes as quickly as possible, and before I know it, he is leaning over me, making me sit back, each of his hands coming either side of the tub, crowding me, as he steps in. The moment he sits down, his hands are on my waist, pulling me forward onto his lap. I crash into his chest, the kiss not losing its momentum for a second. The water swirls around us, and I hear some of it splash onto the floor, but neither of us gives a damn. One of his hands comes to the back of my hea
Author’s Note: Hey fam! So remember when I gave a vague estimate for how many chapters were left? Well, I am here to confirm that chapter 79 will be the end of SIR. I get so emotional just thinking about it, and I am not even remotely ready for it to be over. But let's do the damn thing together. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ David leads me into his apartment, not commenting on the mess he has to guide me through. Or maybe he doesn’t even notice. Between Danvers and me rushing around to get ready and leave, I haven’t exactly kept things neat and tidy. But maybe he knows that is the reason why there are random pieces of clothing knocked off the coat rack, pieces of paper on the floor from when I was trying to find more weapons and emptied all the drawers. Maybe Danvers has already warned him somehow. Maybe he knows I had been here running around like a tornado. Maybe he just doesn’t care. He just leads me to the bathro
I feel David’s arms around me before I even realise I have dropped to the floor. I feel myself struggling to breathe, trying to comprehend what David has just said to me. My father ordered a hit on my mother. My mother had been dating Nicholas Hale. The two sentences repeat themselves in my head over and over as I try to make sense of the words. Rhys is still standing by the desk, frozen in shock, like he can’t even process the thought of it. It is a few minutes before I feel David’s chin resting on top of my head, his body enveloping mine as he holds me close to him, and as selfish as it is, I take the chance to wrap my arms back around him once I regain the sensation in my fingers. When the moment starts to dwindle, David starting to shift back, inhale, ready to explain that this clearly doesn’t mean he is taking me back, I quickly push him off of me and wipe my face dry. Then I grab the invoice, the pictures, a
Malcolm drops to the floor loudly, completely knocked out, and I pant as I lock eyes with David. Before addressing him, I grab Malcolm’s arm and drag him to the side, picking up some spare cable ties that are on the floor, and starting to tie his wrists and ankles together, before securing him to the table leg against the wall. Then I walk over to David, and kneel in front of him, looking up. He has an expression behind his eyes that I can’t place, but I know it makes me nervous. His focus is lasered in on the specks of blood dotted over my face, the red patch on my jaw that tells him someone has hit me there. The gun I’m holding in my hands is placed on the floor between the two of us. Reaching behind me, I grab the knife I have in my waistband that I picked up on the way in, and set about cutting the ties off his wrists.“You shouldn’t have come here.” I whisper, moving down to his ankles.David says nothing as he watches me cut through the ties and stand up. H
I know it won’t take long for Malcolm to realise I’m gone. But it will be long enough for me to get to David’s apartment. That’s the only thing I can think of doing.Sel and Nico are safe at The Red Room. At least, I hope they are, because I don’t seem to have my phone on me to warn them otherwise. The only other person I know my father will go after is David, so I at least need to warn him. My father won’t stop at just taking me. There has to have been another part of his plan. At least if David knows, he can try and find out.First, getting out of the basement room I’m in is the most difficult bit.Uncle Rhys has four basement rooms. Only one has access to the old basement side entrance from a vent cover that Rhys never quite got fixed properly, although it isn’t the room I’m currently in. That will be safer than traipsing through the entire house. So my initial step is getting into the right room.Unfortunately, the locks on these doors are something that Rhys
