(DON'S POV)
Don Donato was a name synonymous with power and dominance in the corporate world and I sure as hell ruled my imaginary kingdom from the very pinnacle of my sleek skyscraper company, Donato Enterprises. I was blessed with piercing blue eyes that could cut through any steel, a jawline that was carved to perfection with a demeanor that left no room for compromise or incompetence, I would always command respect and fear in equal in the business worldI was seated in my lavishly luxurious office, I leaned back in my chair with my fingers steepled beneath my sharp chin. My phone repeatedly buzzed uncontrollably with messages and calls, but I paid them no mind or attention. The world outside the floor-to-ceiling windows seemed insignificant compared to the empire I had built from the ground. Donato Enterprises was my own kingdom and I was its unrelenting ruler. My assistant, Jennifer, timidly entered the room and her eyes were wide with apprehension. "Mr. Donato, the quarterly reports are in. Our profits have surpassed all expectations."I barely spared her a glance. "Of course, they have, Jennifer. I wouldn't expect anything less." My voice was cold and devoid of any interest or warmth. The reports of my company's profits, which was normal for an internationally successful business, had not surprised me one bit. In fact, they had never truly surprised me before. I was Don Donato after all, who could refuse investing in my company? Nobody! Not the Japanese with their high tech nor the high power countries that seemed to own the entire continent. Nobody! That was why Donato Enterprises was such a success. I made investments into everything that seemed profitable and i would always be rewarded with a return higher than anything anyone could ever imagine."Mr Donato..." She began slowly, I noticed that she was struggling to say whatever was in her mind. I didn't care less of what she was thinking, I shot her an emotionless look and she stumbled backwards a little. "I can understand why you are so proud of the company's success but..." She stopped again, looking at the floor as if she was contemplating seriously on her next choice of words. "But there is something strange about Mr. Yamai, he seems to have changed.""What do you mean?" I demanded. There was a hint of impatience in my tone that I did not bother to hide and it seemed to affect her confidence the more."Mr. Yamai…. The other investors? The ones who invested in the company. Do you think that they will continue their investment in the company or will they go back on their word?" Her voice trembled slightly but not much."Are you doubting my competence?" I asked in a scowl, my eyes turning a darker shade of blue as I stared at her in annoyance. She cowered under the intensity of my gaze and looked away. "Is it your place to question my decisions, Jennifer?" She immediately shook her head timidly. "Then take that fucking attitude and remember your position with me and quit talking. If you're so worried about that, instead of questioning me, why don't you put that energy into doing your job right!"It was clear by her face she was terrified. "No sir," she replied, "I am only worried that they might not take advantage of your success, and might make use of the fact that it is not your father.. the Chairman that they are doing business….""How dare you question my abilities!" My voice echoed in the office and my eyes flashed angrily. I stood up from behind my desk and moved towards her. Before she could flinch, i was already standing few inches from her."Do not forget your damn place! You are no longer allowed to work here! Now, pack up your things. You are no longer my employee! Get out of here!" I shouted at her all the while, pushing her hard towards the door. She collapsed on the floor, crying softly."Get out of here!" I repeated, my eyes flashed menacingly at her, my voice shook with intense and uncontrollable rage and I saw a tear fall from her eye."You're fired!" With a final shove she staggered out the door, tripping over her own two feet and fell outside of it. I slammed the door and walked back to my chair. Turnouts like what had happened was a usual occurrence in my everyday life at the company so it did not bother me a single bit, instead I relished in the glory of my success.Success was my constant companion, but today, something else lingered at the edges of my mind but I couldn't figure out what it was, of course it had nothing with me firing my assistant. As the sun dipped below the horizon, while it casted a golden glow over the city, I found myself surprisingly restless. I had little time and patience for fun, but an itch in the back of my mind compelled me to want to seek a different kind of distraction, which was completely unlike my usual self.I arrived at the exclusive club, The Luxe Haven, where the city's most elite members mingled. My arrival of course did not go unnoticed because heads turned and whispers spread as fast as a wildfire. Don Donato was a rare sight in such establishments because I would always decline invitations no matter how many I got, but tonight, I was here for reasons even I couldn't fully comprehend.I settled into a booth with a few of my business partners, though most of them thought of me as a friend, to me, they were mere acquittances, I picked up a glass of aged whiskey with my hand and took a small sip, enjoying the burning sensation in my throat as it went down. The music throbbed through the air and the dimly lit room pulsed with life. Despite the crowd and my business partners all trying to engage me in a conversation, I remained aloof, my eyes subconsciously scanning the room for... something. That was when I saw her, a woman who seemed to defy the very air around her. Her beauty was undeniable but good lord, it was the fire in her eyes that drew my attention, it seemed to reel me in like a magnet. She moved with a grace that suggested confidence and vulnerability in a way that almost compelled me to approach her.Our eyes locked and an electric charge shot through the air. My lips curled into a half-smile as I watched her stand up from where she was and approach my booth. She stopped in front of my table, her eyes appeared to be filled with a mixture of desire and something else…. Desperation, maybe? With a sultry smile plastered on her face, she leaned in closer, her voice was a seductive purr as she whispered. "Marry me."I raised an eyebrow, I was clearly intrigued by the audacity of her proposal. "And why would I do that?"The woman's gaze never wavered as she replied, I found myself loving her confidence. "Because I need a man more powerful than my fiancé and I'm willing to make it worth your while."My reputation for being someone who always negotiated ruthlessly was well-known, but this was a different kind of proposition and I sure as hell was hooked already. I leaned back, my expression completely unreadable. "You have my attention. Tell me more."(ACCALIA'S POV)The club's intoxicating rhythm moved through the air and it was creating an atmosphere that was charged with immense desires. The handsome stranger's presence in front of me felt like a magnetic force, like it was drawing me closer as though we were two opposing poles. With the effects of alcohol still in my head, it seemed to somehow lend me a very reckless confidence, I leaned in closer to the handsome stranger. His gaze were penetrating and unwavering and held mine in a heated embrace that left me breathless, it was almost like we were in a staring competition. The unspoken connection between us sizzled like electricity. The handsome stranger was the definition of perfection, how could a man be so handsome? He skin was smooth and so clear, he had strong jawline and dark blue eyes set deep into his face like a gemstone. His hair was thick and black and fell on his forehead with an ease that showed his rough exterior and it suited him, his hair was styled perfectly
(DON'S POV)As I looked into Accalia's eyes, her words hung between us and it was heavy with desperation and desire. It was clear that she was really in a predicament, probably a very big and deep one but what struck me most was how intensely drunk she appeared to be. The alcohol had blurred the edges of her world and it left her vulnerable and adrift. Anything could happen to her if she mingled in the crowd or stepped outside anyone. I took a good look at her, she looked fragile like she would break at the slightest touch. She looked nothing more than twenty, she was wearing nothing but a yellow dress that fell below her knees and showed off her beautiful legs. Her hair golden hair fell freely around her shoulders in waves and her little makeup perfectly blended with her pale skin making her appear like an angel, as if God had made up some sort of beauty serum for her. She was a beauty, truly, and there was something intoxicating about her beauty even if I felt my mind begin to wan
(ACCALIA'S POV)The moment I regained consciousness, I regretted it instantly. My head throbbed with a relentless and heavy ache and the blinding sunlight filtering through the curtains felt like an assault on my eyes. As I tried to piece together the events of the previous night, I felt a strong feeling of irritation washed over me when the vivid memory of my parents asking me to marry Ken Peterson flooded in, and I hissed in annoyance.I groaned in irritation, wanting nothing more than to bury my head under the covers and block out the world. I intended to roll over and go back to sleep, to escape the impending storm of parental pressure, but then the distorted and blurry memories flooded into my mind. The club, the sultry proposition I had dared to make and the my goodness gracious, the handsome and mysterious stranger named Don, it all came rushing back.My eyes widened in embarrassment as I remembered my reckless proposal to a man I barely knew. The last thing I recalled him sa
(ACCALIA'S POV)My eyes traveled to where Don sat, He was dressed in a dark suit, with a crisp white shirt and a silk tie. His shoes are shined to a mirror-like finish, and he's wearing a gold watch on his wrist. His expression is unreadable, but there's a hint of a smirk on his lips. His eyes are cold and calculating, and he exudes an aura of power and control. He sits back on the couch, one leg crossed casually over the other as if he owns the room. Everything about him screams danger and authority, his gaze holding empty emotions in them, I was confused, I had a hazy memory of him at the bar but he was the one as his strong cologne filled the entire room,Clarissa pasted a fake smile on her face as she approached me.“What's going on?” I managed to whisper to her.“What do you mean what's going on? He came for you.” Her voice rang like a bell in my head, as I looked at everyone in the room.“You all have got to be joking, right?” I asked but Dad only smiled as he stared at me,and
ACCALIA'S POVWe got downstairs, to see Dad and Aunt Clarissa. The look on their faces seems subtle and confused. I stood behind Don, as he spoke,“I'm taking her home tonight.” He says, Dad shared a look with Aunt Clarissa, then to me,“Why all of a sudden? The marriage rites are yet to be done.” He managed to say, Don turned his head slowly to him,”Marriage rites?" They both nodded frantically,“Lia and I already did that. I just came here to pick up my wife before you give her up.” He paused, then allowed them to digest what he had just said, then continued” We'll see you at the wedding.” They both stood in awe at what was happening, even I was shocked because I wasn't expecting that response from him.He looked at me with a cold expression, “Pack your things and meet me in the car." He said as he straightened his jacket and adjusted his tie. He gave me a cold, hard look, and then turns and walks out the door without a word. As he leaves, I feel a sense of relief wash over me. I c
ACCALIA'S POV“He had a sister? I didn't know..” the butler looked away as if telling me was not a great idea.“Don't let the master know I told you.”He stated, then helped me with my bags as he showed me the room.“This is where you'll be staying for the meantime.”“Wow, Don sure has some goodness in him,” I said in a low voice, The butler looked at me and then said, “You shouldn't get too caught up with that. The master is pretty Dangerous.” As we climbed the stairs the walls of the house were mostly artworks hung on them, there were no single pictures on the wall.We got to my room, and he turned the doorknob and opened the door, I was wowed by its majestic looks,The walls were a soft, buttery yellow, and the curtains were a luxurious ivory silk. The furniture is all antique, with hand-carved details and gilded accents. The fireplace is a masterpiece of marble and gold, with a roaring fire burning inside. The room was filled with light, streaming in through the windows and refle
DON'S POVI couldn't eat, the banging from the gate seemed too loud, too bad Luca wasn't here to kick off his butts.“Where are the guards?” I frowned I turned to Butler Roy,“The guards? They should be with Luca. You sent them to go with him”. He answered quickly, Groaning in anger, I picked up my cell phone as I head to the door,“What's with all the noise!” I asked furiously, Lia turned to me as if scared to see me,“I'm sorry, he was just leaving?”“Don? Isn't that Don Donato? You're married to this monster?” He drew his finger at me as I stood, looking at him making a mess of himself.“What do you mean_”I immediately cut her off, and turned to him, “You have just five minutes to leave if you don't want to kiss this horrible world goodbye” I warned keenly as I walked back into the house banging the door without me, he should be just lucky, I do not have any prove to pin him as a criminal. I entered my room as Accalia busted in banging the door behind her,“What was Ken talking
ACCALIA'S POVDon was upset and to be honest, I knew that I made him angry. I looked at the clock on the wall and realized that it was still too damn too early and there was absolutely no way I would be able to go see him at his office, not when the contract stated that I must always stay hidden, I was his anonymous wife. I let out a bored sigh and continued to play with the food on my plate.“Would you like to talk about it?” A familiar voice asked, I raised my head and my gaze fell on Butler Roy. Believe it or not, I came to find out that he was one of the best staff Don had, and judging by his look, it appeared like he had worked for the Donato family for a very long time.I sighed before I spoke, “ No… I don't just get it.”He squinted his brows and stared at me in confusion, “What don't you get, young miss?”“Don? Your boss, He's so difficult to read and understand. How am I supposed to cope with him?” I complained bitterly. I and Don weren't even married properly yet, I mean we
