KNOX

The house was too quiet for a place holding someone fighting for his life.I hated that.I hated the stillness. It felt wrong.I stood at the foot of Steel’s bed in his private suite, arms crossed, jaw tight. The doctors had just left after checking his vitals, and the machines hummed like they were mocking me with their slow, steady beeps.Liza was sitting beside him, still in the change of clothes Jaden brought. Her head was bowed, hands folded over Steel’s, whispering things I couldn’t hear. Jaden leaned against the far wall, scrolling through his phone, probably trying to distract himself from the reality in front of him.But me? I wasn’t built to sit and wait.I stepped out into the hallway, pulling my phone from my pocket and hitting the secure line. “Prospect One,” I said as soon as the call connected.“Yes, boss.”“I want every traffic cam, every dash cam, every scrap of footage from the moment Steel stepped out of the building until that truck hit him,” I said, my voice low but sharp. “I want the plate numbers of every vehicle in a five-hundred-meter radius. Pull phone records, too. Anyone making a call in that area before the hit—trace it.” “Yes, sir.” “This wasn’t random,” I continued. “The driver didn’t even brake. Either he was drunk, suicidal, or paid. I’m betting paid. Find him before the cops do, and if the cops have him first, make sure he doesn’t disappear into some legal loophole.” “Yes, boss.”I hung up before he could say anything else.My second call was to Prospect Two. “I want Steel’s security detail for that shoot pulled into the main room at the clubhouse within thirty minutes. I’ll be there in person. I want to know why the hell they let him walk to his car without a clear perimeter.”

“They said—” “I don’t care what they said,” I snapped. “This isn’t a goddamn fashion show where people get to make excuses. He’s in a coma because someone got sloppy. We’ll deal with them.” “Yes, boss.”When I slid the phone back into my pocket, I caught Jaden watching me from the doorway. His eyes were dark, like he’d been piecing things together he didn’t want to believe.“You think it was deliberate,” he said flatly.“I know it,” I replied.“And if it was?”“Then whoever signed off on it just wrote their own death warrant.”He didn’t argue. He just nodded once, then went back inside.I stayed out in the hall, pacing once, twice, before pulling out my phone again. This call was harder. Not because I was scared of the man I was calling—but because Steel would have hated me doing it.The line rang twice before a deep, gruff voice answered. “Knox.” “Yeah. It’s me.” “Where’s my son?”There it was. No greeting. No warmth. Just straight to the point, like a man who didn’t waste words.I took a breath. “He was hit by a truck.”Silence.“A truck,” he repeated slowly, like the word didn’t fit in his vocabulary.“Outside the shoot location. He’s in a coma. Lost a lot of blood—your grandson Jaden donated. We’ve moved him to his private residence for security.”“What the hell were his men doing?”“That’s the question I’m already asking,” I said evenly. “I’ve got my people on it. We’ll find out if it was a hit or a freak accident.” “Knox—” His voice lowered, hardening. “If someone did this on purpose…” “They won’t see another sunrise,” I promised. There was another stretch of silence, just his steady breathing on the line. Then—“I’m flying in tonight.”“I’ll have a car meet you.”I ended the call and exhaled slowly. The man was a storm when it came to Steel, and I had just lit the first thunderclap. When I went back into the room, Liza looked up at me. Her eyes were red but dry now—like she’d run out of tears and was running on pure stubbornness.“What did his father say?” she asked quietly.“He’s coming.”Her shoulders stiffened. She didn’t look too happy about it.“Then keep his emotions balanced before he enters the room,” she muttered. “The last thing Steel needs is him storming in here like he can control the outcome of this.”I didn’t argue. I just put a hand on her shoulder, grounding her. “We’ll handle it.”I stayed in that room until the movers came—our own men, silent and efficient. The doctors followed orders, transferring him onto the private stretcher, keeping the machines connected. The vehicles we used weren’t marked as ambulances—they looked like regular black SUVs—but inside, they were better equipped than most ER units. The convoy rolled out quietly, no sirens, no spectacle. Just shadows slipping through the city while I rode in the lead car, scanning every corner, every set of headlights too close. This wasn’t just an accident, and by the time I was done, the whole damn city was going to know it. I picked up my phone and called Catalina. "Babe go stay with her at the house, keep things calm, his dad is on his way there so be safe...." After talking to her for some additional seconds I hang up and focus on the mission at hand.

I needed to get things under control fastly before the whole business and club spiral into some big unreedeemable mess but with so many suspects going around pin pointing a starting pooint is rather a challenge.

I put new prospects to shadow the twins and Sin because at this point they are likely the main targets hence I must do all I can to keep them all safe and inbtact before Steel is able to put things in order.

"Hi, I'd like you to also get eyes on her husband , keep a tight leash, no one goes in or out without. Proper report, anyone acting shady gets a bullet immediately do you understand me?".. There's a brief pause before an abswer "Yes sir".

Now all we can do is tighten security then watch everywhere closely to get a full grasp of what is happening around us since we're virtually in the dark without the slightest idea of our reality.

STEELHer nails clawed down my back, sharp, desperate, and it only made me slam harder into her. Every drag of her body under mine was a war against my sanity because I wanted to be in her forever with her mouth gasping my name, her body trying to keep up, and me refusing to let her forget who the fuck she belonged to.“Steel—” she gasped, head thrashing against the pillow, lips wet and trembling.I bent down, teeth grazing her jaw, biting down just enough to make her cry out. “Say it,” I growled into her ear, voice a rasp that was almost unrecognizable. “Whose pussy is this, Liza? Tell me before I fuck the words out of you.”She squeezed around me so tight I nearly lost it right there. Her hand came up, gripping my hair, pulling me down until our mouths collided—messy, biting, angry. She kissed me like she hated me, like she loved me, like she couldn’t breathe without me.“Yours,” she moaned into my mouth, breaking the kiss with a whimper. “It’s yours, it’s always been yours—fuck—”

STEEL The door slammed shut behind us, and the air between us grew tight. I could hear her breathing hard, fast, broken — and it stoked the flames that'd been burning since I spotted her on his arm tonight. I closed the distance in two strides, every muscle tensed, every thought focused on her. She tried to stand up straight, chin high, but her hands trembled where she held her clutch. "Steel—" she started. I cut her off with a snarl. "Shut up, Sin." Her lips parted in surprise, and shock passed over her face, but she didn't move. She never moved when I talked that way. "You know what it did to me," I growled, my fist slamming into the wall beside her head. She winced but didn't back away. "Watching you smile like that. Faking it with him. Allowing him to put his goddamn hand on you like he owned the right." Her throat constricted as she swallowed. "It's for the cameras. It's politics, Steel. You understand this." "I don't care if it's politics." My fingers wrapped around her jaw, sp

SINThe champagne glass was cold against the heat of my hand, but the smiles I was sharing were more warm than the floodlights bathing the ballroom.Another wife of a politician asked me where I had bought my dress, bending in a way that suggested the answer would reveal the secret to her own dull marriage. I told her Paris — I didn't bother to mention the custom fitting or the way I'd chosen the neckline specifically because it photographed so well next to Boyce. Boyce was a step ahead of me, his hand resting lightly at the small of my back when the press were watching, dropping away as soon as we were out of view. He was immaculate tonight — practiced handshakes, a joke ready to go for each A-list contributor. If I hadn't known him, I would have suspected he was a man just asked to marry but in reality a full blown robot.During the last handshake and final pop of the flashbulb, I was smiling like mad with a jaw cramp. Last night's drive home was quiet — too quiet. I tried question

  • STEEL'S CURVY SIN & SECRETS   CHAPTER 26: WHY SHE STAYS

CATALINA I leaned back against the counter, arms folded, watching Sin pace like she was determined to wear a hole through the hardwood floor. Her hair was still stunning from whatever shoot she'd run away from earlier in the day, but her eyes. they told another story. "Sin," I said finally, shattering the silence, "why don't you just get divorced?" She stiffened mid-stride, her back to me. For an instant, I thought she didn't understand — then she slowly turned, as if weighing every word. "You think its that simple?" she asked, voice low. "Yeah," I told her. "If a man is making you miserable, you walk. That's how it is for the rest of us." Her laugh was harsh and unfunny. "Catalina… my marriage is not like yours.". Or anybody's. "Then tell me about it," I said. "Because from where I stand, Boyce gets to be the perfect husband out in public and hurts you in private and you just. accept it." Her jaw tightened. "It's not a matter of accepting it. It's a matter. of survival for myself

  • STEEL'S CURVY SIN & SECRETS   CHAPTER 25: CONFRONTATION

BOYCE If one more person asks me where my wife is again, I’m going to lose it. “Boyce, my man, where’s that stunning wife of yours tonight?” Some board member chuckles, gripping my hand like we’re old friends. I keep my smile perfectly measured — the one I’ve practised for years in the mirror. Not too warm, not too cold. Just enough to disarm. “She’s… indisposed tonight. Prior commitments,” I say smoothly, letting the champagne glass in my other hand do the talking. He winks. “You two are the picture of love, you know. Lucky guy.” Lucky. Right. If luck meant showing up to these suffocating events solo while she was God knows where, then yes, I’m drowning in it. The speeches drag on. The same over-polished faces nodding, clapping, networking. I play my part — shaking hands, laughing at jokes I’ve heard a hundred times, and posing for photographs that will be printed in tomorrow’s gossip columns under some insipid headline. But behind the smile, every time my phone buzzes in my po

  • STEEL'S CURVY SIN & SECRETS   CHAPTER 24: AWAKE

STEELWaking up was like emerging to the surface from having been underwater for a while. Sounds came before me — the gentle hum of air conditioning, the muffled scuff of feet on tile, and the periodic ringing of metal. Then there was the smell — antiseptic, vaguely floral, like an effort had been made to mask the sterility with lavender. When I finally opened my eyes to blink, the light was pale and weak. No beeping noises, no harsh hospital white. The walls weren't the sterile blue I was used to in medical rooms — they were dark, expensive beige. The curtains were thick, draping tall windows. This wasn't a hospital.I realized I was in a king-size bed, but sheets were wrapped tightly around me. An IV tube wrapped around my arm, and a pounding pain emanated in my ribs and legs. My body was extremely heavy. Then I saw her.Sin.She reclined in a rumpled velvet armchair beside the bed, knees bent a bit, chin resting on her palm. She sported loose hair draping over her shoulder, and was
