MasukBrenda’s P.O.V.
Laura has been acting a bit weird this day, the way she hid her phone away felt weird. I wanted to keep teasing it out of her when… The sound of the powerful engine took everyone's attention and they all seemed to know who had arrived, including me. I couldn't hide the urge, I turned to look at the bike and then, I saw the rider. Richard, the only boy that could pull off a mysterious air in school, look hot and also get away with it. He pulled off his helmet, shaking out dark, messy hair. He didn’t spare a glance at anybody staring at him. He didn’t need to. He was the campus mysterious, talented, athletic, stunningly handsome and completely untouchable. My heart did a stupid little flutter, but I quickly forced it down. I quickly waved Laura off, and sashayed to meet him but, before I could get to him, some girls were already flanking at his side. "Oh shit!" I exclaimed annoyed, they always ruining my chances. I just never get to speak to him. “There goes my chances.” I turned and walked around, but couldn't find Laura where I left her. “She's always disappearing on me this days,” I murmured, feeling my courage seep out of my body. This was me growing cold feet. I stood there, pretending to gaze at my phone in my hands, and as if I was I bothered and had no care in the world. I peeked up from my phone, and saw those other girls already left, giggling on their way. “What was so funny,” I murmured irritated. I quickly rushed forward before more girls and boys rush up to meet him. I stood in front of him with a confident smirk on my face. "Nice bike," I had nothing cool my brain could come up with. Richard didn't even look up and I cringed so bad, I almost wanted the ground to swallow me up. He was busy undoing a strap on his leather glove. "It's just normal," he murmured, his voice completely flat. I waited for the usual smirk, or the urge to impress me with the bike, maybe a cringe compliment, or the flirty eye contact I got from literally every other guy on this campus but none of it came and I was already losing it. “Yeah, it's normal. My dad bought something close to this for me last month,” I paused, I have never felt this nervous talking to a boy. "So," I pushed, stepping closer to the bike, my ego taking a tiny dent. I was about asking him a question, anything, maybe a date? I don't know but I just wanted to speak to him. “Would you like to hang out?” I asked and then Richard finally glanced at me. But his eyes didn't linger on my outfit or my face. They were cold, scanning me like I was a stranger asking for directions. Well, I was a stranger. Just not asking for directions. "No," he said simply. I blinked, completely shocked to my core. "What?" "If you would excuse me now, Brenda. I have a class to attend now," he said. Oh! He knew my name, that is a confidence booster. My jaw practically hit the floor and crawled away in shame. He was brushing me off. "Wait a minute," I snapped, my temper flaring. "Who are you to just walk out on me like that?" My eyes peered deeply into his, like I was going to kill him with my glare. He returned my glare with a much calmer look. We were now attracting the attention of other students. He started walking away and I followed closely behind him not relenting. After, my dad he had the straightest face I have seen and he didn't seemed interested in talking, his countenance made that very clear. "I am hosting a pool party," I told him my voice coming out sharp. "You can come if you want.” “Where?” His reply came as a surprise to me, and gave a quiet smirk. “My humble abode,” I bragged, feeling smug. I knew my father's house was far from anything humble. “Tomorrow.” He didn't even give any acknowledgement, he turned and walked off in long strides into a building, I stood there, my chest heaving, staring at his back till he disappeared. No guy had ever given me such atritude, It was embarrassing but interesting. A cold, sharp determination took over. I will so play with him, I smirked unknowingly before correcting myself immediately, I would have looked mad to the passers-by. Oh! Then, it struck me. I have an impromptu pool party to plan. Who throws the best party on campus? Me! “Oh Brenda! Another party, again?” I envisaged Laura's reaction and had a good satisfying laugh.Damian’s POV It was already eight pm, and the corporation was quiet. Down below, the city lights flickered like a grid of cold diamonds, but up here, in my corner office, there was only silence. I sat behind my massive mahogany desk, tapping a heavy silver pen against the dark wood. I couldn't focus on the financial reports sitting in front of me. Every time I tried to get busy, I didn't see numbers or corporate acquisitions. I saw her. Laura. Her face from the stadium box kept playing on a loop in my mind. The delicate curve of her neck. The way her breath hitched when I leaned in close. The fierce, desperate look in her brown eyes whenever she tried to fight the pull between us. It was getting out of hand. I was forty-eight years old, a man who built an empire on ruthless discipline and cold logic, yet it seemed like I was completely consumed by my daughter’s twenty-one-year-old best friend. A quiet buzz came from the intercom on my desk. "Mr. Steels," my secretary’s voice
Laura’s POV.The cold air in the VIP suite suddenly felt far too heavy to breathe.Damian’s presence hit the room like a physical blow. He was sitting right beside me, his tailored dark suit practically brushing my shoulders. His expensive cologne filled my nostrils.I sat still and stiffly to pretend to be alright. My hands shook so hard I had to press my palms flat against my knees just to hide the trembling. He leaned down further. His breath almost brushed the shell of my ear, hot and terrifyingly calm.“Are you okay?” His question sounded like a tease. His voice sends cool shivers between my core."You look tense, Laura," Damian whispered, his voice a low, gravelly purr that only I could hear. "Relax. You look far too pretty to be this terrified of me."A sudden feeling of anger flared in my chest, I turned and glared at him. I ignored my surroundings.Who is Terrified? He treated me like a pawn on a chessboard. He spoke to me like I was something he owned, I didn't like that.“I
Richard’s POV. My left shoulder was throbbing with a dull, nagging ache. It was from where the front bumper of that sports car had clipped my bike’s frame some minutes ago. I leaned back against the wall of the locker room, holding a heavy ice pack firmly against my bare strap. "Dude, you’re out of your mind," Marcus muttered, tying his skates on the wooden bench across from me. He shook his head, looking at me like I had completely lost my head. "Brenda Steels literally rammed her car into your sportbike in the middle of a packed campus parking lot. You could’ve broken an ankle or a wrist right before the match could even start!" "She tried," I corrected him softly, a cold smirk tugging at the corner of my mouth. "She missed." Marcus looked at me incredulously. "Both of you are out of your minds. Don't tell me you have a soft spot for her," Marcus scoffed, pulling his jersey over his head. "No, her dad is one of the stakeholders funding the team, Marcus.” I reminde
Laura's POV.Morning light spilled across the cold marble tiles of the kitchen.I stood by the counter, waiting for the coffee machine to hum to life. My body was still heavy with sleep, but my mind was already racing.I couldn't stop thinking about last night.I closed my eyes, and suddenly I was right back on that cold mahogany desk in his study. I could still feel the weight of his body pressing against mine, his dark gaze burning into me, expecting me to bow. Expecting me to submit like I always did.“You think you can play dress-up at a college party, drink with boys, and come back to me smelling like another life?”His voice had been so dark, so heavy with control. But yesterday was different.Yesterday, I didn't tremble. I didn't back down.I remembered the exact moment I grabbed the lapels of his jacket. I remembered pulling him down, forcing him into my space, and whispering those words right against his mouth.“Then maybe you should stop acting like you're the one in control
Laura's POV.My hand instinctively grabbed the edges on the table. The papers fluttered to the wide-plank oak floor, completely forgotten.Damian didn't step back. He stepped directly between my parted knees, trapping me against the edge of the desk. His grip on my waist was iron, holding me firmly in place while his other hand removed the robe I threw on my bikini."Damian..." my voice came out as a breathless gasp, my heart hammering wildly against his palm."Look at me, Laura," he commanded, his hand moving in a slow, deliberate circle that sent a sharp wave of heat straight to my core.I raised my eyes up to meet his eyes. His dark gaze was storming, filled with a terrifying mix of cold possession and raw, unbridled desire."You think you can wear this at a college party, drink with boys, and come back to me smelling like another life?" he murmured, flicking the hook of my bra, and flung it. He leaned in until his lips were barely an inch from mine. His hand slid slowly up from my
Laura's POV.Brenda slammed the huge door with all her might and stormed upstairs, her bare, wet feet slapping angrily against the white oak floor."Miss Brenda, do you need…" one of the house maids started, stepping out of the hallway pantry.Brenda didn't even spare a look at her, cutting her off with a sharp swipe of her hand as she marched past. I followed right behind her, giving the confused staff an apologetic glance before hurrying up the steps. The moment we hit her bedroom, Brenda threw herself face-down on her mattress."I am so done with him, Laura!" her muffled voice screamed into the pillows. "I am completely, entirely done with my stupid crush on Richard. He is nothing to me now!"He was never a thing to you anyways, I couldn't help but think inside my head. But, I hugged her, she flipped over, pulling the heavy pink duvet up to her chin, her face still bright red with lingering embarrassment. Within minutes, exhaustion won, and her breathing slowed, she fell into a de
