Her stomach was churning when she woke up the next morning. The sun was so bright and she can hear the sounds of the vehicles on the busy streets reminding her that she's no longer in the province where she lives for so many horrific years with her aunt and cousin who treated her so bad.
She stood up immediately and looked around the area where she slept last night. The beggars were no longer there. She had no idea where the beggars went after they woke up earlier."What should I do now?" Casey mumbled hopelessly. She started walking without having the idea where she would go next. She still has a money to buy her food, but it will never enough to support her for several days. She needs to find a job to earn money. She remembered the advice of the bus driver to her that she needs to find a place to stay in the meantime. She needs to look for a house. But she doesn't even know where she could find a house to live while looking for a job. While she's walking, a beggar approached her. She was surprised as she saw the beggar."Where are you from?" The beggar asked her. Casey sighed deeply."I came from the province," she answered. The beggar nodded. "Oh, really? Where province you came from?" She sighed again. "It's far away from here. Maybe you don't know where it is," she said, hastily."Okay. But where are you going, huh?" Casey shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know where I'm going...""W-what? You don't know where you're going? Why did you come here in the city if you don't know where you're going, huh? Are you kidding me?" The beggar answered."No, I'm not kidding you. I don't know where exactly I'm going. I left the house of my aunt because I can no longer take their bad treatment against me," I explained. She frowned. The beggar understands her."Well, I'm sorry," she said. "But what's your name?" The beggar asked her name."Casey," she said. "My name is Casey. How about you?" The beggar smiled before answering her."My name is Cora," she answered. "I was a poor beggar." Casey nodded. Cora is kind and she felt it."How old are you?" Casey asked. Cora answered her immediately."I'm twenty years old, Casey. How about you, huh? How old are you?" Casey sighed."I'm twenty years old. We're the same age, Cora," she said. Casey smiled. "Nice meeting you here.""Yeah, nice meeting you too, Casey," Cora answered."Do you want to eat breakfast with me Cora?" Casey asked her. "I'm looking for a place to eat breakfast.'' Cora got happier as she heard her looking for a place to eat breakfast. She's starving and needs to eat breakfast."Of course, yes. I'll join you eating breakfast, Casey. You know I was starving and I want to eat breakfast so bad," Cora told her. "Thank God I'm gonna eat breakfast this morning. You're a blessing for me, Casey. I couldn't eat breakfast this morning without you." Cora caressed her churning stomach. Casey smiled at her."If you're not yet eating breakfast, we can eat now. I'm starving too. Where can we eat breakfast?" Casey answered."There," Cora said, pointing the direction where they can eat breakfast. "We can eat there. The food is not expensive there." Casey quickly nodded. "Okay. We can go there. Let's go and eat our breakfast."They ordered food to eat. Cora speaks while they're eating their breakfast. "Do you have family members here in Manila, huh?" Cora asked her.Casey stopped eating her food. She took a glass of water and drink it first before answering her question. They're not yet done asking each other about their lives."No. I have no family members here in Manila. It's my first time to be here and I was so amazed to see this place. I have no place to go. I rode a bus with no money in my pocket, but the bus driver gave me money. I decided to leave the province where I was born and forget the bad memories there. But fate brought me here in Manila and I have no idea what's waiting for me here," Casey explained. She was frowning as she said it to her new found friend Cora who nods quickly. "How about you, Cora? Do you still have family members here in Manila?" Cora sighed deeply."I still have family members here in Manila, but they didn't want me. My aunts and uncles are here. But since my parents died three years ago, they treated me so bad. And maybe we're having the same situation," Cora said, sadly."So that's the reason why you became a beggar because no one wants to accept you. Are you the only child of your parents?" Casey asked her. She bit her lower lip and looked very sad."No one will help me, so I decided to live my life alone. I'm a poor beggar. I wasn't the only child of our parents, I have a brother, but I don't know where he was right now. He's older than me. Maybe he doesn't want me to," she said.Casey let out a deep sigh. "You know we're destined to meet each other because we're having the same situation. No one really accepts us. We're unlucky to be in this world," Casey replied. Cora nodded quickly."You're right, Casey. No one can accept us. For now we can be together," she said."Yeah. But we need to look for a home to stay. We can't sleep in the park. It's dangerous, right?" Casey insisted."I know. But we have no enough money to have a home to stay. Do you have money, huh? I don't have money to have a home to stay, so I decided to sleep in the park. It's my home for almost three years and nothing bad happens to me. This is the life we had," Cora answered. "We don't have a choice, Casey. We're unlucky living this cruel world." Casey felt sad when she realized she's totally homeless and penniless after she heard the answer of her new found friend Cora. She has no enough money."I don't have enough money," she said weakly. "But I'll start this afternoon to look for a job.""Where did you sleep last night, huh?" Cora asked her."In the park," Casey said. "I slept in the park last night. I've experienced sleeping in the park, and it'll be more often. I'll try to look for a job. We need money to live, Cora. We can't be like this. We need to survive." Cora nodded and continued eating her food. She didn't speak to her again until they finished eating their breakfast. Casey paid the bills."Thank you so much again for your treat, Casey. I'll never forget it," Cora said, thanking her again. Casey smiled at her."You're always welcome, Cora. We're friends now and as long as I have money we can eat food," Casey replied. "I wish I could find a job soon. I promise I'll treat you to eat in a fancy restaurant. Have you experienced eating in a fancy restaurant?""Not yet," she said. "My parents couldn't afford to bring me in a fancy restaurant. It's expensive, right? We used to eat in a simple food eatery because we can afford it. How about you, Casey? Have you experienced it, huh?""Yes. I'd experienced it once when my mother was still alive in our province. But when she died, I have not experience it anymore until now. A lot has changed when she died. I felt my entire world has ended. It's been six years since she passed away, but I can't really move on. Years had passed and the pain still there. It's getting more painful losing her, Cora," Casey mumbled with pain in her eyes. She could still remember her beloved mother who died years ago. The pain of losing her beloved mother didn't disappear in her heart. It's still there, and it's getting more painful every day."I strongly agree with you, Casey. I felt it, too. You know losing someone we really love makes more painful every passing day. It's getting more painful, right? We thought when days, weeks and years passed, it'll be forgotten, and we can no longer feel the pain of losing them, but it was wrong. It's getting more painful every passing day. I think losing someone we really love is the kind of wound that can't never be healed by time or even years.""You're right, Cora. We couldn't go back in time anymore. We lost them, but we'll never forget them. They'll be forever in our hearts," Casey answered."Where are we going now?" Cora asked her while they're walking under the heat of the sun. They'd finished eating their breakfast. Casey shrugged her shoulders. She doesn't even know where they're going next. But after a few minutes, she speaks to her friend. "Do you want to go to the church?" Casey asked her. Cora nodded immediately. "Fine. We can go to the church. Since you haven't familiarized this place, I would bring you to the nearby church. It's one of my favorite churches here in Manila," she said, agreeing to her new found friend who came from the province. Casey gave her a wide smile."Thank you so much, Cora," she said. "I want you to bring me there. I want to see that church." "You're always welcome, Casey. Let's go there," she replied. They finally arrived at the church minutes later. There are few people in the church when they arrived. They bought two candles each and lit it before they enters the church. They knelt down on their knees and closed their eyes and say thei
"I couldn't believe it. I never expected I would bump into someone like him. He's a billionaire, but he's alone and it seems like he's an ordinary man," Casey said, still amazed as she found out the truth about him. He's a billionaire."What do you expect from him, huh? With bodyguards following him? Or people screaming for his name, huh? Maybe he prefers to be alone going to the church. It's his choice. He's not a celebrity, but people keep their eyes on him. I never expected it, too. But you're lucky and now you can understand why I told you lucky," Cora said. She frowned. "I'm not lucky, Cora.Don't say it, please," Casey said, pouting her lips. ''I'll never be lucky. I'm cursed."Her friend Cora chuckled. Casey couldn't forget what happened earlier as they exited the church. She could still remember him. She's sitting alone on the bench while her friend Cora left her for a few minutes. She didn't tell her where she's going, but when she came back, she had a food in her hands. She g
"I want to talk to you. Is it okay with you?" Casey answers. Her voice is shaking nervously. Niccolo rolled his eyes and sighed heavily."I saw you the other day, but I really don't know your name. Why do you want to talk to me? Is it important, huh?" Niccolo asked her obediently. Casey nodded slowly."Yes, it's important," she said. Niccolo gasped. "But what's your name, huh?"Casey cleared her throat before she says her name to the man in front of her. Niccolo is waiting for her answer."Casey. My name is Casey Lopez," she replied, saying her name to him. "How about you?" Casey asked his name even though she knows it from her friend Cora."My name is Niccolo. Sit down please, Casey," he said, pointing the chair in front of him. Casey sat down immediately. She can't take her eyes off him. Her heart is still beating faster. Maybe it's because she's still nervous. Casey didn't expect to do it."Have you eaten your lunch?" Niccolo asked her. Casey speaks quickly and tells the truth to hi
Casey doesn't want to pretend as his girlfriend in front of his parents and friends, but she had no choice. She needs to agree with him. If she didn't agree with him, she'll suffer for more living in the streets. She found someone who could help her. Niccolo wants to help her. It's her only chance to get out from the suffering she had experienced when she arrived in Manila from the province where she was born. Casey closed her eyes and took a very deep breath before she opens her mouth and answers him."I'll agree with you," she said. "I'll pretend as your girlfriend, but you need to help me." There's a wide smile appears on his face when he hears her agreeing with him to pretend as his girlfriend."Thank you so much for agreeing with me, Casey. I promise you, I'll help you," he said. Casey nods quickly. "Thank you, Niccolo."After they'd talked inside the restaurant, Niccolo brought her to the mall. Niccolo bought her new clothes and fixed her looks in the salon. She needs to look mor
"Thank you for driving me here," Casey said, thanking him for driving her. Niccolo gave her a quick smile and said, "You're welcome, Casey. You're now safe. Where were you sleeping?" Casey bit her lower lip."We're sleeping right there," she said, pointing the direction where they're sleeping every night. Niccolo nods. "I can't believe you endured the cold breeze every night sleeping there. But tomorrow you'll never sleep in this place again," he said. "We had no choice. So, we endured the cold breeze of the wind every night," she said. "I need to see my friend now. Thank you so much for helping me." Casey smiles at him before she leaves him. She hurriedly went to her friend Cora who's waiting for her to come back. People are staring at her as she walks towards her friend. Cora's eyes got bigger when she saw her coming in her direction. She's sitting on the wooden chair and counting her fingers repeatedly. "Where have you been, Casey? I've been looking for you for the afternoon, but
Casey woke up early the next morning. She had a peaceful sleep last night. It was her last moment sleeping in the park with her beloved friend Cora. She went to the bakery and bought some bread for their breakfast. She bought two cups of coffee too. "Good morning, Cora," she greeted her friend as she put down the bread and two cups of coffee she bought in front of them. Cora smiled at her and said, "Good morning too, Casey. You woke up early today. Are you excited to see him?" Casey sighed deeply and shrugged her shoulders before she speaks to her beloved friend."Well, I'm not excited for it. I'm sad though. And you know why I'm feeling sad, Cora," she said bitterly."You don't have to feel sad, Casey. You should be happy because you won't experience the life here in the streets. You should be grateful for the blessings you have right now. And without his help, you couldn't have the life you deserve. You don't have to think of me here. I'll be fine here. No more drama, please. We can
"Can I go to the park today?" Casey asked him the next day. It's Friday morning. Casey wants to visit her friend Cora at the park. Niccolo allowed her to go there."Of course, yes. You can visit your friend. There's no problem with me, Casey. I'll drive you going to the park and call me later if you want to go back here in my condominium," he said, allowing her to visit her friend this morning. Casey smiled at him. "Thank you for allowing me to visit my friend. But I can't call you later because I have no cell phone," she said, frowning. Niccolo tapped his forehead and he left her quickly. When he came back from his room, he's holding a paper bag and he gave it to her immediately. Casey's eyes widened."W-what is this?" Casey asked. She had no idea what's inside the paper bag. "I'm sorry I forgot to give it to you last night. But since you told me you don't have a cell phone, so I remembered it. You should open it and see what's inside, Casey," Niccolo apologized.Casey opened the pap
"I'm now free from them. They can't do it again, Cora. Maybe someday they'll realize their mistakes against me. They'll regret the bad treatment they'd shown to me so many years. I hope it'll happen soon," Casey mumbled with pain in her voice. "It'll happen, Casey. They'll realize their mistakes against you. They'll regret everything they did to you," Cora answered. Casey nods to her friend who really cares for her. She bit her lips. "Anyway, I just want to give these groceries for you," she said, pointing the groceries for her friend Cora. Cora's eyes widened as she sees it. "W-what? Are you sure?" She asked. Casey nods very quickly to give assurance. "Yes, Cora. Before he drives me here, we went to the grocery store. He bought it for you," Casey said."I didn't tell him, Casey. Did you tell him to do it, huh?" Cora asked."No. I didn't tell him to do it. He's the only one who insisted to do it, Cora. Maybe he felt pity for you," Casey answered. There are tears in her eyes when she
