As Eugene stepped back, a cruel, almost vicious smile twisted across his face. "Soon enough, Jackie will be mine again."

"Dream on!" Liam spat.

For a heartbeat, a flash of malice flickered in Eugene's eyes before he was gone.

Liam was about to speak, but the worry etched across Jacklyn's face stopped him.

Her voice, low and tense, carried the weight of urgency. "Liam, I must find Abel. Martin only relented because of the evidence Abel had gathered for me. He risked himself for my sake, and I can't abandon him now."

After speaking, Jacklyn spun on her heel, ready to dash out.

Liam seized her shoulder. "Jackie, I know Abel's safety is urgent, but pressing matters in Swanford can't wait. Starborne and the studio have waited far too long. For now, you need to return.

"Leave the search to me. Trust me. I will ensure Abel comes back safely."

Jacklyn clutched his wrist, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "You must find him, Liam. You must."
