“Run!”
The voices in my head yelled at me but I couldn’t even move. How do I escape him when he was standing right in front of me? I didn’t dare to look at him. I kept my eyes down and I hated how I couldn’t even meet his eyes when I should be yelling at him for sending his men to kidnap me.
I felt like a fool for trying to hide in fear and that made me realize that I had no reason to be scared of him. I haven’t done anything to him for him to keep me in his house and I can leave. I lifted my head to look at him for the first time and gasped audibly. Did I say gorgeous before? I take that back. I mean, drop dead, panties dropping gorgeous.
He looked everything like a living, breathing, walking sin. He had the look, body, and height that could bring any woman and even men to their knees. I wish I were joking but I wasn’t at all. It took a moment to get my senses back and when I opened my mouth to speak, he beat me to it.
“You are bleeding.”
I gasped when he spoke. His voice was surprisingly soft. I shrank back when he touched my forehead and I almost fell. I touched my forehead and gasped in fear when I touched something that felt like blood. I didn’t even realize I had been bleeding until he said it.
“Did you fall while trying to run away?”
I opened my mouth to respond to his question but couldn’t get the words out as I suddenly felt lightheaded. I blinked and steadied myself. This wasn’t the time to feel lightheaded. I already fainted once and woke up in a strange room, I wasn’t about to faint again after risking my life to jump down that window.
“We should go back inside, you need to be treated.”
He tried to reach for me again and I stepped away from him.
“Don’t fucking touch me!”
I felt proud of how firm my voice sounded. He listened and took his hand away.
“Okay, I won’t touch but get in the car.”
He said in a calm but commanding voice that caused a shiver to run through my body. I shook my head.
“I am not getting in your car. I am not going back to your house! I don’t belong here and you know it! I don’t know what you think you will gain from kidnapping me but you are wrong! I have nothing and you are only going to catch a criminal charge.”
I warned him. He didn’t even act like I just said something. I was forced to meet his eyes for a slight second. How can he look so calm and dangerous at the same time? For the brief moment I met his eyes, I couldn’t read him. I tried and could only hold for about five seconds before I looked away again. I can’t read him and I am very good at reading people.
“Dolce, I think you don’t have much of a choice right now, you either get in the car with me or bleed to death before you make it to the main road which I might warn you will take you at least five hours on foot. That’s if you don’t get eaten by one of those wild animals that roam the forest part of the area.”
I couldn’t believe any of the words that came out of his mouth. I refuse to believe he was telling the truth.
It didn’t even take an hour to arrive here by car. Surely it won’t take me five whole hours to find the main road! He was just exaggerating and trying to scare me.
“Liar! I am not getting in your car. You don’t even know me! You don’t even know my name yet you sent your men to kidnap me? You brought me here against my will and I am going to leave!”
I fired at him. He shrugged his shoulders and smirked. I wanted to slap the smirk off his face but I knew better than to do that. Just one look around and I saw the men who got out of the other cars and they all had guns.
Guns! My eyes widened when I looked properly and saw the numerous men with their guns. I realized that I might not make it out of here alive. Forget the wild animals he mentioned. There’s no way all these men would let me go without shooting me. I swallowed in fear and tried a different approach.
“Please let me go, I beg you. I am just a foreigner who moved here today. I have no money. My family isn’t rich or influential. They can’t pay any ransom. I b----“
I stopped talking when he started laughing loudly. His laugh should have been annoying but it wasn’t and I hated myself for not hating his laughter. He was mocking me for pleading with him yet I didn’t find his laughter offensive. I think the jet lag is messing with my thinking ability.
“Stop fucking laughing like a sicko! I don’t think I said anything funny!”
I yelled at him. Begging him was obviously not going to work seeing as he found me begging funny. He stopped laughing after I yelled at him. I spared a look at his men and they all looked surprised. Okay, maybe they were pissed that I just yelled at their boss. Maybe they were about to yell ‘fire’ right before they all started raining bullets on me.
“Dolce, do I look like I need ransom money?”
Was that why he was laughing? He didn’t kidnap me to get a ransom, then why?
“If that’s not the case then why did you kidnap me? What do you want from me? I don’t know anything! I haven’t done anything wrong!”
I blinked as I started to feel lightheaded again. l touched my forehead and realized blood was still rushing out.
“You are going to bleed to death if you don’t stop being so stubborn.”
I opened my mouth to respond to his words but I couldn’t speak because I had to fight to steady myself and keep the darkness that suddenly gathered in my eyes. Blinking and shaking my head didn’t help, it only made me feel dizzier. I didn’t know when I started falling but I knew when he caught and after that, nothing.
Luca“Nadia, I am going to kill her!”I sat through watching the CCTV footage myself and it was unmistaken that Nadia had helped her get away. She opened her booth before she left and dropped something in.She knew Gianni had been in there and she helped her get away. I looked through other footage from the road and saw when she let her out of the booth. She helped her escape.Only that Nadia hadn’t been helping Gianni. She did what she did out of spite. We fought again after she treated Gianni for the second time and she told me that I would regret turning her down again and bringing a woman home even though I told her times without number that Gianni wasn’t special to me.I told her everything that Arturo planned to do with Gianni so she knows. She knows what will happen if she goes to him yet she helped her just to get to me. I dragged my fingers through my hair as a fresh wave of anger swept through me.I reached for my phone to call her but on second thought, I dropped my phone.
Luca“What did you just say? Where did she go?”That woman is just trouble. Why would she leave her room again after her near-death experience? I expected her to have learned her lesson after the last near-death experience but I was wrong. She will never learn. What do I expect from a woman who knowingly left her country for a man like Arturo?“Have you checked around? Has Nadia left?”I asked Teresa who was panicking by the sound of her voice.“Yes, Nadia already left hours ago and she told me to let her sleep for about three hours which I did but when I got to her room to wake her, she wasn’t there.”I dragged my fingers through my hair in frustration.“You have looked everywhere for her? There’s no way she would have left the property. She is probably somewhere trying to find a way out!”I pointed out. I should have known she wouldn't listen when I told her that there’s no other way out of there.“We have looked everywhere for her but she is nowhere in the property. I think she mig
Gianni“Does it still look like I am joking?”I couldn’t say a words. Tears stung in my eyes but I didn’t cry. I couldn’t cry in front of him, that would give him the satisfaction that he had me under control. I refuse to give him that. I managed to stand up and glared at him while still holding my cheek.“If you can slap me then you can tell your men to shoot me too! I don’t care what you do but I am going to leave this place whether alive or dead!”I fired at him and once again, I turned and started walking away. I made it back to the door and glared at the idiot who was still pointing his gun at me.“Take one more step and you will regret it!”Arturo yelled after me. I ignored him and tried to pass the man but he blocked the way. He was no longer pointing the gun at me but trying to stop me. Of course, he can’t shoot at me unless Arturo tells him to and so far, the bastard hasn’t given the order yet. Well, I don’t care what he does because I am not going to be trapped by yet anothe
Gianni“Can you please stop? You are not being funny right now Arturo! You are scaring me!”I let out because now I was genuinely scared of him and the way he was speaking. If he was joking, then he should know when to stop. If isn’t joking, then I don’t even know what to do. The words of the taxi driver who brought me here suddenly flashed into my mind and a cold fear enveloped me. I didn’t get the chance to ask him questions because he left before I could.“You still think this is a joke? You think I am playing silly games with you? Do I look like I joke around? Do I look like I have time to joke around with women?”The way he said women sounded very derogatory. I swallowed hard and tried to make sense of what was going on. I just got here and a few minutes ago, he had been worried about me and welcomed me with a hug. What changed and why was he suddenly making me so scared. I was already shaking in fear.‘I can’t stay h3ere! I don’t know what sick games you are playing Arturo but I
Gianni“Those bastards!”Arturo cursed out. Yeah! That bastard, Luca is so lucky that he has someone like Nadia with him because she is his saving grace. “They were terrible! I tried to run away twice but only ended up injured.”I told him and he growled. He held me and started examining my body. He cursed every time he saw an injury. It made me feel good seeing him care so much. His reaction proved that if I told him who did it, he would have declared war like Nadia predicted.“Did they touch you? Did they take your virginity?”I shook my head. Did I forget to mention that Arturo loves the fact that I am untouched? When I told him I had never had sex before, he was so happy about it and it made me feel good. I wasn’t exactly keeping myself for anyone but I just wanted to do it with someone I really like and that person turned out to be someone who honored the concept. It could have been weird if I told him first before our relationship started but he didn’t find out until two month
Gianni“Are you really going to Arturo’s avenue? I actually thought that you meant to say you are going near there.”The driver questioned long after the ride started. I didn’t know the place directly but by his words, we might be very close.“I mean Arturo’s avenue.”I told him. I caught him watching me through his rear mirror and he looked curious.“I am Arturo Baldino’s guest.”I added to clear any misunderstanding.“Wow, I thought you were a foreigner.”“Yes I am,”I answered.“So you are one of those?”He definitely sounded condescending in the way he asked the question but I didn’t read much into it because I wasn’t really used to the way of life of the people here. He could just be asking out of curiosity so even though it sounded offensive to me, I tried to downplay it.“One of whom?”I asked him as politely as I could. He shrugged his shoulders but didn’t answer my question. Before I could ask again, he pulled his car to a stop in front of a huge gate.“This is Arturo’s avenu
