Jocelyn's escape from her abusive boyfriend was far from easy. He found her at her moms and started beating her when she refused to go with him. Her mom called the cops. But before they handcuffed him and put him in the squad car, he warned that they all would be sorry.
Her and her cousin Traci talked from time to time. They now lived 12 hours apart, so mostly it was just phone calls, or video chats. Cards at Christmas and birthdays. They had been close growing up until college. She was afraid of her mom now being in danger because she called the cops, and because she was responsible for getting her out of town and into protection. Her younger brother was only 17 and a senior in high school. It was just him and her mom as her dad had passed away several years back. Jocelyn is a bartender. Her ex-boyfriend is Charles. His dad owns a construction company and he runs it. She met him at the bar, which should have been red flag number one. Red flag number two should have been him calling and texting multiple times a day. At first, she thought it was sweet and showed he cared. Now she knows it was because he's jealous, possessive, and controlling. After he talked her into moving in with him, the changes started. He constantly demanded to know where she was. He started accusing her of being with other guys. Or flirting with them when she was doing her job. She had to be nice and talk to the customers to get decent tips. Then he started complaining about her working extra shifts or staying late. Slowly the few friends she had quit talking to her. They didn't like him and didn't like them. He even complained when her mom or brother would call her. They didn't call a lot, but he complained they did. The trip to where Traci lived was 12 hours if you drove it straight. However, her motorcycle escort stopped three times to rest, eat, and take bathroom breaks. Even though it was just after 8am when they left, it was after 11pm when they arrived in town. They finally arrived at the Knight's compound. Jocelyn was in awe at the massive gates they had to go through. It was outside of town limits about 15 minutes. The main building was huge. When she walked into the main room, Traci was waiting on her. She looked at her face and wrapped her in a warm hug. "I am so sorry you went through that. But you're safe here and these guys won't let that happen again." Traci assured her. Jocelyn was too choked up to reply. She simply nodded her head. Traci stepped back and a tall muscular man stepped forward. "This is my husband, Jarret. They call him Prez. Everyone answers to him and he organizes all the jobs." Traci explained. Jarret held out his hand. "Nice to meet you. Traci's family is our family." "Thank you! You've no idea how much I appreciate this." Jocelyn finally managed. "I won't overwhelm you with introducing everyone. In time you'll learn their names. For now, I'll introduce you to Soldier and Ace. They'll be in charge of your security detail. While you're on the compound you're protected as long as you stay away from the entrance. If you need to leave then you'll have to have them with you." Jarret explained. Jocelyn nodded in agreement. Two good looking guys approached as Jarret looked at them. The blonde was hot, but the black-haired guy was out right sexy. He had a single dimple when he smiled at her. "This is Ace." Jarret replied motioning to the blonde guy. "And that's Soldier." He explained motioning to the sexy black haired one. They each shook her hand. And she felt tingles in her hand at Soldier's touch. Damn, didn't she just get away from a bad relationship? Well trying to? She did not need to jump straight into another relationship. She tried telling her lady parts to cool it. But they weren't listening! They were all about the tall dark sexy man. She also tried telling them that no man would give her a second look in her state. She had a black eye, a couple of bruises on her face and arms, and a busted lip that was almost healed but still a little puffy. She looked and felt like a punching bag. They would all fade with time, but the emotional part would take some time. "We have a professional on payroll that comes once a week to talk to anyone who has suffered emotional or physical trauma. I think you should sit in. You can do group here and promise you no one judges. Or you can do private one on one at her office. She is really good and you'd never think she's a doctor." Traci explained. "Ok I'll check out the group for now." Jocelyn agreed. While Jarret talked with the MC that escorted her, Traci, Ace, and Soldier got her things and showed her to the mobile home she would be staying in. "For now, you don't have a roommate even though it's three bedrooms. But that could change depending on if the guys get a rescue mission and how many they bring back. We help them to get back into society or until they can reunite with their families." Traci explained. "I think it's amazing what y'all do here. If more organizations like this existed, maybe the world would be a better place." Jocelyn remarked. "From your mouth to God's ears." Traci agreed. "You'll need to meet with Data in the morning to get your new identity. It's best you start right away and get used to your new name." Soldier explained. "Yes, and you can't call anyone unless you get with our tech geeks so they can jam your calls." Ace explained. "Ok." Jocelyn replied. They all left to give her time to unpack and settle in. Jocelyn sat down and exhaled a sigh of relief. She was finally safe. She could breathe easily for a change.Allison walked quickly to her car and grabbed her phone. Not feeling like talking she sent Dallas a text that told her she was fine and just needed to process their conversation. She promised she'd explain later.Gideon, no Scribe as he reminded her, texted and called every day. He signed his texts as Scribe. He wasn't letting her forget he was different now, as was she. Their past had changed them both. She finally gave in when he requested a visit to their daughter's grave. After all she couldn't refuse him that right? That would just be cruel. So, she agreed to meet him at the cemetery. When she got there, he was already there, leaning against his motorcycle waiting for her. She parked and got out and walked over to him. These visits were always hard for her.She started walking towards her grave and he quietly followed. In her hand were some pink daisies she had gotten from the flower shop. She always made sure she brought some.Once they reached her grave she stopped. Scribe gasp
"The rumor she started about me being pregnant and leaving town so no one would know. Then she said I had an abortion and had no idea who the father was." Allison barely managed to say."Were you, and did you?" He demanded."Yes Gideon, I was pregnant with your baby. And if you think I would abort my baby, well I guess you never knew me!" She raised her voice."What happened?" He rasped.Allison sat on the bench. For this next part she needed support. It still sliced her heart wide open. Even though it had been three years now."The pregnancy was normal, no problems. I went to the doctor regularly. When I hit my eighth month, I didn't feel her move. Panicked I went to the ER, and they ran tests and did an ultrasound. She had died. The umbilical cord had wrapped around her neck and she was gone." Allison choked out through her tears."Oh Ally, I'm so sorry." He whispered."Do you know how hard it is to have to give birth to your baby that died? Part of you still has hope the doctors ar
The girls quickly finished up eating and left. They didn't say anything, but each knew the other's thoughts. They said bye and each got in their own car and left.Seeing Gideon had hurt worse than she had expected. It brought back all the old memories and devastation she had went through as if it were just yesterday. Allison was able to keep the tears at bay, until she was in her shower. After a long hot shower she got dressed and decided to take a nap until dinner. The cry had exhausted her. The two hour nap made her feel better. Now to figure out how to avoid him as out of sight out of mind right?Wrong, so wrong. Every time she had to go to town he was there. He kept trying to get her to talk to him. She kept ignoring him. After two weeks he was starting to wear her down. She was about to give in and let him have his talk. Then maybe he'd leave her alone."Ally the least you can do is tell me why you never responded to my voicemails or calls." Gideon replied."You can't respond to
Allison and Gideon aka Scribe were high school sweethearts. Scribe joined the army and Allison was going to college to be a lawyer. They agreed to do the long distance relationship, but as most, it didn't work out.Allison changed colleges to one that was ten hours away. She finished her four year degree, but her dad's health started to decline, and instead of going to law school changed to a business degree to help her dad.She just finished up all her classes and after a little over four years moved back home. Her dad was having trouble keeping up with the paperwork at their farm, and he had to hire more people to help him which meant funds were tighter. Her goal was to get a job in a law office, and then spend her evenings and weekends helping her dad. She was even moving back onto the farm, in her old room. Her mom passed away when she was 17. Her best friend Dallas and Gideon had helped her through her death. She knew it would happen sooner or later that she'd run into Gideon. Ev
They finally arrived in Addie's hometown. All her family met them at the apartment to help them get moved in. Edge refused to let her move off the couch. Only thing he'd let her do was give orders of what went where. The next day, Edge went to the Pawn shop to start his training with Preacher. He actually found the work interesting. He loved looking up history on some of the pawn items. He watched Preacher haggle prices with people wanting to pawn stuff. It was slower pace than the bar, but truly he had been burnt out from the bar for a while. He really had never felt truly home or family with the Knight's MC. He'd always have their back and they'd have his, but he just felt something was missing.A month went by, and Addie would join him at the Pawn shop most days and Edge would only let her sit behind the counter or in the office. He loved having her around. He had to assure her many times that he was not sick of having her around day and night. There was a meeting at the clubhouse
Prez sighed. "I understand your frustration and anger at the situation. You have my word we will handle it. I've had some rooms made ready for you and your family. I'll have one of the brothers to show you where they are as I'm sure you want to get back to the hospital to see your daughter."Levi stood and nodded. Edge walked back into the room. He nodded to Prez and Levi. The others left the room understanding Edge needed to talk to them privately."I should have paid more attention and realized Addie had something bothering her. I take full responsibility for that. I love Addie with everything that I am. She's my forever. I love her enough to do what's right for her. I realized today that she's unhappy here. Her happiness means everything to me." Edge explained."What are you saying?" Prez asked."Her going back home is what's best for her. And I want to go with her. I don't want to be without her, and I want to raise our baby together. So I'm asking if I can leave the club. And I'm
