Xander's POV

Max slams into me and stills, as he finds his release. Fuck, that was incredible. My heart’s racing, breath coming in shallow gasps, and I can still feel Max’s weight on top of me, grounding me. But my legs won’t hold us up. They’re trembling too much. I slump to the floor, and we roll to the side in a tangle of limbs. It’s messy, and yet, in this moment, it feels perfect. I have never felt pleasure that intense before.

I should feel weird about this, right? But I don’t. I feel… whole. Like something inside me clicked into place. My heart’s still hammering, but for the first time, everything feels calm. Like all the weight of being the future Alpha, all the pressure to be perfect, to have every answer—it’s just… gone. It’s just me and Max, and everything’s okay.

But then reality creeps in. It hits like a cold punch to the gut. What the hell just happened? I mean, I know what happened, but why does it feel like the world shifted beneath my feet? Max and I have known each o

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 158

Max's POVBianca stands, and she and Christine head over to their dads on the lawn. Seb gets up and stalks toward the front of the house, clearly waiting for Noah and Ralph to arrive.Quietly, I lean toward Zahra. “Zahra, I’m sorry this is happening. I know you’re going to wipe the floor with them, but can I ask you a favour?”She glances up at me from her bacon, her expression flat. “I am not throwing this fight. You can forget that right now.”I can’t help but smile. “I would never ask that. Honestly, I’m looking forward to watching you demolish them.” Her lips twitch slightly, but I press on. “Here’s the thing. We’ve been having trouble with those two for a while. Seb has two alternatives for Gamma and Delta, and we’ve been trying to find a way to replace Christine an

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 157

Max's POVI hear Christine snicker softly, and my stomach tightens. Zahra’s head snaps in her direction, her eyes sharp and murderous. I silently pray Christine keeps her mouth shut because if Zahra decides to unleash herself, it’s going to be a scene.Zach sits scowling into his plate, and I can feel Oscar’s hostility radiating from where he sits. His gaze is locked on Seb, who, of course, is staring at Zahra like a lovesick idiot. I can practically hear the wheels turning in his head, like he’s trying to figure out what to say. I clench my jaw, bracing for whatever drama is about to unfold.‘This is a powder keg waiting to blow,’Medus mutters darkly.‘No kidding,’I reply. All I can do now is watch and hope no one decides to light the match.

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 156

Max's POVThis week has been a complete shit show. I still can’t believe what Zach said to Zahra on Tuesday night. Honestly, I’m disgusted. How could a brother say something like that to his sister, especially a sister who’s been through what Zahra has? Every time I see him, I have to fight the urge to knock his teeth in. The only thing that’s kept his face intact is the fact he seems genuinely wrecked over it. But still, what the hell was he thinking?Zahra has been avoiding us all like the plague, and she’s steering clear of the Alpha house too. They’re taking it hard, but what do they expect? As for Sebastian, he’s persona non grata after it came out that he cheated on her. He’s been moping around like a kicked puppy, but that’s on him. Frankly, I nearly punched his lights out at the time, and I probably should have. I saw him brush her off, the way he dismissed her like she didn’t matter—it still boils my blood. But then he went further and kissed that Rebecca girl. Zahra is way t

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 155

Zahra's POVAfter devouring some absolutely divine scrambled eggs on toast with maple bacon, Daphne’s breakfast game is unmatched, we head out in her car. It’s not far, but Abby apparently can’t be bothered to walk. I roll my eyes at her, and she just giggles in response. Typical. When we arrive, the training field is packed. I’ve never seen so many pack members in one place before. There’s a small platform set up in the middle of the field in front of the main building, complete with a microphone. None of the ranked members are here yet, so everyone’s just milling around. The sheer number of people is a bit much for me. Overstimulating doesn’t even begin to cover it.Abby and Sienna seem to pick up on my discomfort because they each loop an arm through mine. Goddess, I love these girls. They don’t push or pry, they just anchor me in the chaos.Just then, I notice Max and Sebastian heading over from the car park. Seb’s dad is with them, along with two girls I vaguely recognize from sc

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 154

Zahra's POVMy tears blur my vision as I sprint away from the bonfire. I can’t believe Zach. Is that really how he feels? Hogging the spotlight? Seriously? I was fucking attacked! How is surviving something that horrific the same as grabbing attention?Zanthe paces restlessly in my mind, her energy radiating frustration, but she keeps sending calming waves of love through me. ‘It’s not your fault, Z. They’ve suffocated you ever since, and you never asked for that. They’re projecting their issues onto you.’‘I know,’ I snap back, swallowing hard as I push my legs to move faster. ‘But it doesn’t stop it from hurting. I didn’t ask for any of this.’I can’t help it. The hot sting of tears falls harder, and my sobs leave me gasping for air. My legs slow, almost of their own accord, as the lack of oxygen drags me down. I come to a stop, bracing my hands on my knees as sobs shake my chest. It’s like every horrible thing I’ve kept bottled up is breaking free all at once, spilling out of me li

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 153

Zach's POVMy insides feel like they’re melting. My sister. My little, 14-year-old sister, just announced she’s graduating this summer. In six weeks. What the actual fuck? How can my baby sister be finishing school a full year before me?The crackling fire is the only sound around the circle. Zahra is staring down at her shoes, and the rest of us are just gawking at her, wide-eyed and open-mouthed.The hot, prickling sensation in my stomach spreads, crawling up my back and neck. I can’t think straight. My emotions are tangled and burning, and before I know it, I’m on my feet, pacing the small space in the middle of the logs.“What?!” It’s all I can manage.“What do you mean, Little Bit?” Oscar croaks out, his voice just as stunned as I feel.Zahra looks up briefly, then back at her shoes. “Well… I’m graduating at the end of the semester. Finals start in two weeks,” she says softly. Her eyes meet mine as I pace. There’s an almost apologetic look in them, but it just fuels the storm ins
