Aria

The ride to the pack shifters realm is oddly calming, and quiet.

No one says a word to me, not even Piper who's not taken her eyes off me since we started moving.

The barrow-like truck I'm inside jiggles a few times, and when it does, my body is aggressively thrown to the side.

During these times, Piper's face darkens with a small smile, and her mood gets lighter.

She's clearly glad to see me suffering.

I want to glare at her, but the force keeping me sane has decided to force a serene and calm look on my face.

I can feel the flickering movement inside me, as the truck moves.

It trails from my finger tips, and doesn't stop till I can feel it wrap around my slim neck, and flicker all the way to my nose.

The tickling sensation nearly forces a giggle out of me, but I sneeze instead.

"Stay quiet, Wench!" Piper spits at me in annoyance, and I only stare at her oddly.

Ever since I found out what a lying conniving person my best friend is, I've always wondered just one thing.

  • Scent of Betrayal   IT WAS A DREAM

Aria“He would be fine.” One of the many physicians that Varaeys called tried to assure me.Riven laid on the bed, unconscious. His forehead had this light, bluish colour and his skin looked very pale. The physician told me he had been injected with the Valkie flower, a poisonous flower that would slowly dry his blood. That would explain why his whole body was pale, he was losing blood. The poison has spread throughout his whole body, so the physicians weren't able to extract it all, leaving his beta system to fight the rest. They claimed he wasn't a normal wolf, that if he was, he would have died within six to twelve hours if no cure was found. What could Riven have done for someone to want to kill him? The person obviously didn't plan on giving him an easy death. As the poison would kill him slowly, and torturously. Who could have hated him this much? Many questions but I had no answers to them. I sighed, looking at his unconscious figure. He had been like this for quite some hours

  • Scent of Betrayal   THE BLACK MARKET

KaidenI went through all the dungeons, but Aria was nowhere to be found. Maybe I should have been a little more patient with Darien, he might have a change of mind and tell me something. But deep down, I knew it would be a waste of time. Darien was kept there to waste my time, and stop me from finding her.I cast a glance at the guards who lay on the bare floor, trembling. They were of no use and all had the same story; they were kept here in case she tried to escape.Just then, I heard footsteps coming towards the part of the dungeon where I was.“Shh.” I placed a finger on my lips, giving the guards a warning look not to try anything stupid. To make sure they understand I wasn't joking, I cast my shadows around them.“Cole! Daven!” A masculine voice called, matching the footsteps.“Don't try to play tricks with me, I know you're there.” The voice chuckled.“Co—”He froze on the spot as saw me, with a sword and the shadows. Then slowly, he averted his eyes and saw his friends on th

KaidenI had wasted enough time with this…stranger, Darien. Time was far spent, and I wondered where Aria was and how she was doing. Despite the fact that she had my shadows with her, I couldn't help but worry.“I'm done playing this game with you, Darien. I’ll be off, consider that as me letting you off.” I said.He let out a dry laugh, then his face turned serious like he didn't just laugh a while ago.“I guess you're done asking questions, shadow king.” His eyes held a taunting look.“And I guess you're done with your pretense too.”“You and I know very well who is the pretender between us.” His lips curled.“I shall put the rest of my time in better use.” I walked past him, heading towards the doors of the dungeon.“Not so fast, shadow king.” I felt a whoosh behind my ears as he appeared before me, with the tip of his sword pressed on my neck.“Just one more move, and that would be the end. Then by tomorrow, the headlines would be, “Shadow king found dead in the dungeon with his

  • Scent of Betrayal   OVERDOSED

AriaRiven was still unconscious. The physicians from the tower said he had been injected with some kind of drugs, in an over dose. Though it wouldn't cause him any harm, it was the reason for his unconsciousness.“How do you see Avarish milady? Beautiful, isn't it?” I heard Varaeys say.I snapped out of my thoughts, I hadn't even been observing anything. The carriage window was slightly opened so I poked my head out.“Careful, else some rebels chop your head off with a clean slice.” He chuckled, but I didn't find it funny as I slowly turned to glare at him subtly.“Ahem, I guess your sense of humour is quite low milady.” His lips curled. For someone I just meant, he was hell bent on getting on my nerves.“Come to think of it, I don't even know your name.” He raised a brow.“I'm—” I paused, unable to continue. What if he finds out who I truly was? That I was the granddaughter of the deceased head of the Flynn pack. What if he was one of granny's frenemies?I had to be careful, but if

  • Scent of Betrayal   THE SAVED HEAD

Aria I felt my heart beating so fast that I feared I might have a heart attack. It didn't help that to me, it seemed the horses were running quite slowly. “You have to be calm, milady. You look like you’re about to faint.” I heard Varaeys say as the horse galloped. My lips pursed as I threw him a slight glare. Someone I knew was about to die, and he was cracking jokes. If we were in a vehicle, I was sure we would have reached his goddamned pack since. What was Riven doing in Avarish? It was quite far from the rogue pack. I wondered what he could have done that could have led to them, wanting to behead him. “What was his offence?” I asked, amidst the noises that emanated from the galloping. “Nmm, I don't know. But, I know he was sent to another pack of ours to be beheaded. I heard he committed treason, but the pack didn't have the ability to behead him so they sent him to us. Avarish has quite a reputation of punishing traitors, even for other packs.” He uttered. Treason? I scof

  • Scent of Betrayal   OFF WITH HIS HEAD

Riven I looked at Piper, unsure if what she was hinting at or what she meant by Kaiden took us for fools. “And what do you mean by that?” “Alot Riven, quite a lot.” She laughed as she deliberately walked slowly towards me, sashaying as her hips swung from side to side. Now that I noticed, she was dressed in a gown, shorter than normal; at least to me. Then she stood in front of me, using her fingers to draw lines on her chest through the shirt I wore. My body stiffened, and I immediately felt tense. “Stop it, Piper.” I growled. “Stop what?” She tilted her head to the side, feigning ignorance. “Whatever shit you're trying to do with me.” I gritted my teeth. “Oh really, so it's working. I was right, you indeed feel…something for me.” She chuckled. “In your dreams.” I said, albeit knowing she was right. But I would rather die than accept that. Those feelings were something that was slowly dying off, and it wouldn't take long before it disappeared, at least. “What do you mea
