He is so hot!

Kelsie Nicole Miller

“Aira, see you tomorrow,” I bid goodbye to my friend and co-worker Aira while heading out towards the exit door of LaBelle - a popular western restaurant in Los Angeles California.

When I stepped foot in California, I immediately looked for a part-time job to support my studies. LaBelle is one of the restaurants that offer part-time jobs for employees like me. I could say that my three years of working in the restaurant helped me tremendously in my finances.  Aside from having an amazing workplace, most people are considerate and kind. I felt lucky enough to be part of the team.

“Bye Kelsie, good luck on your exam!" she smiled widely and waved her hand.

Honestly, being a working student requires infinite perseverance and determination to be able to cope up with everyday needs in school and work. I'm proud of myself that I was able to balance everything in between after years of hardships. I could say that hustling in my final year is never easy.

I chose BA in Legal Management at California State University – a public entity that offers low tuition fees but a highly competent school. I did acquire a scholarship because of my outstanding academic performance and I'm so thankful for the program. I settled on that course because of its relation to the profession that I've always wanted - to be a LAWYER.

My determination of becoming a lawyer ignited upon learning what happened to my father. The injustice was evident during that time and the influence of money played a huge role in breaking off the truth which irked me exceedingly.

Pursuing Law degree was a dream and my goal. To say determined is an understatement. Possibilities started to arise and I felt certain I could fulfill the promise I made to my Father’s grave. I told myself I wouldn't be satisfied until I get the proper procedures for him. I never lose hope and I knew that I needed to stay focus so that I could claim the justice that I longed for.

I could say that life has been cruel to me. I never felt the love of a mother since I was born. My mom died when she gave birth to me and my dad- the only person I have in my life passed away when I was 16. I was left alone and grieving. At a young age, I learned how to be independent and live on my own.

I used to recall the past which imposed excruciating pain and hatred to my heart. I'm clouded with anger at those people who were involved in my father’s death. I instilled in my mind to put them rotten in jail and experience hell.

I was walking hurriedly along the street of Hollywood drive and as I checked the time, it was already five forty in the afternoon. Truth be told, I'm always afraid to get late for my exam.

“Three seconds left” I murmured sighting the traffic light and the cars haven’t moved yet. I ran as fast as I could to be able to cross the road, however before I could reach the other side, a speeding Black Range Rover is about to hit me.

My body stilled. I closed my eyes waiting for the impact since my mind got blocked because of the sudden situation. After a few seconds, I opened my eyes again and saw it stopped in front of me. With a furious face and raging anger, I walked towards the car and hit the tire on the driver's side.

“You freaking idiot, get out of this damn car!” I shouted to the driver.

“Are you trying to kill me, huh?! Damn you Damn!" but before I could utter another word, a man wearing a suit- no! A tall and handsome man stepped out of the car. He has a pointed nose, a defined jaw, and hazelnut eyes. He looked intimidating and his aura screams power and authority.

“Whoa! He-Is-So-Hot!” kept playing at the back of my mind which I immediately deleted.

“Kelsie, remember he almost killed you” I reminded myself.

“Are you done checking me out, woman?!” I was back from my reverie when I heard his baritone voice. I stiffened when I met his gaze, his eyes looks familiar.

“You’re drooling!” he smirked and I realized I was still looking at him.

“I want you to apologize to me,” I demanded him.

“And why would I do that? He was still smirking which added to my irritation.

“I almost die because of what you did!” I shouted at him.

“Jesus, woman! It was your fault. You’re running in the middle of the road without observing those traffic signs,” he pointed to the post and I knew he was just holding his anger.

“Traffic lights don't matter, you violated the law for over-speeding and I want you to apologize!” we kept on shouting against each other in the middle of the road that caught the attention of people around us.

“I don’t owe an apology to anyone. Now, get out on my way and I’m in a hurry” he hit back impatiently. My blood extremely burst inside when I heard him say that. How dare him!

My blood rose and I couldn't let his arrogance win. It popped through my mind that he needs to learn his lesson.  I reached for my apartment key in my pocket and scratched the other side of his car. Quickly, I ran fast without looking back at him.

“Shit! woman! what did you do?!” he was shouting and I could still hear his exasperation though I was already far from him. I laughed hard because of what I did. “You deserved it, jerk!”

I reached my class 10 minutes behind. Thankfully, our professor allowed me to take the exam despite being not on time. When I was done,  I also attended my History class which happened to be my last subject.

My mind flew to my encounter with the handsome arrogant man. Wait, did I say handsome? I should call him devilishly rude. I laughed as I recalled his face after scratching his car.

“Hey, penny for your thoughts?” Denver, my seatmate asked before tapping my arm. “Nothing, something's funny just crossed my mind,” I told him without any intention of elaborating the details.

“I’m so bored with this subject, I'm drowsy,” I whispered to him while looking at our professor. “I need something like an energy drink," he chuckled at what I've said.

“You might want to join us later at John’s birthday party, everyone’s invited," he was smiling disclosing the details to me. John belongs to the family of elites so definitely a rich kind of kid.

“Let’s get drunk later, you know unlimited beers and it’s free!” he added excitedly. I looked at him unable to decide because partying isn't my cup of tea.

“Thank you, I'll think about it," I replied.
