"Give me a sec." I said, rushing to the light switch, and turned it off. The room would have been plunged into complete darkness if not for the little sliver of light that came from the other side of the window.

I rushed back to Sebastian, standing so close that our chests almost touched, and I furrowed my brows.

"I know I sound crazy, but in the dark, under a little light, you do kind of look familiar." I mused, touching his cheek.

"Really?" He replied, placing his hand on my waist and pressing my body against his. His eyes stared into mine, curiosity lurking in them, and was that eagerness?

Did he know something I didn’t?

"Uh-huh." I nodded. "I can't quite place it, or maybe it's just all in my head, but I feel you did something really, really important to me. I just feel like I should be grateful for something you did, even though I can't remember, but I know I should. I sound crazy, don't I?"

"No, you don't. Maybe we have met each other some time, somehow." He said, pl

"Aww! It's big! And pretty!" Tiffany gawked, pressing her face to the car's window as Sebastian's parents' house came into view. 'This is it. I'm finally meeting his parents again, but this time there are no other guests to take their attention. Their eyes will completely be on me.' I swallowed air and rubbed my palm across my lap. 'It's not a big deal. I just have to lie to a couple that I'm dating their son, but who knows what they would do to me if they find out I'm lying? Maybe I shouldn't have agreed to Sebastian's plan. I'm even more nervous than I would have been if Sebastian was actually my boyfriend. Is it too late to—' "You'll be fine, Aurora. My parents love you." Sebastian assured me, patting my knee. "There's a high chance of them changing their mind if we don't pull this off." I let out a dry laugh. "Trust me, we make the perfect couple." He kissed me on my cheek, and my face flushed. "Aww, Mummy is shy." Tiffany cooed as she ogled at Sebastian and me, a larg

'I will do anything for you.' Sebastian's words rang in my head. Anybody could have said it without meaning it. But his eyes, his eyes told me they meant every word he said. Why? I had done absolutely nothing to deserve what he was promising, yet he was. And I knew he wouldn't promise it to just anyone. Then why me? A few weeks ago, I would have suspected he had some bad hidden agenda against me, but I trusted him. Sebastian wouldn't hurt me or my daughter. But why was he promising me these things? "I hope that doesn't include ruining my family's business." I joked, distracting myself from thoughts as I placed my hands on his broad shoulders. "Trust me. I would." Sebastian remarked, and I frowned. "Please don't actually do that. Because I don't want them in my life doesn't mean I want to ruin them." I pleaded. As much as I didn't like my family, I was terrified for them at what Sebastian had in mind. He might seem like a chill guy, but the version of him I saw standi

"Another one? For heaven's sake, how many numbers do they have? Can't they get it?" I scowled under my breath as I blocked another of the many numbers my family had been using to disturb me. "Can't who get what?" Sebastian asked as he sat down beside me. "Nothing. It's just some people that have been disturbing me since yesterday." I scowled as I tossed the phone on the other side of the couch and picked up my sketchbook and pen. "Since yesterday? Why? Did something happen?" He furrowed his brows, and I bit my inner cheek. 'If I try to completely dismiss the issue, he'll get suspicious that I'm hiding something. But I can't tell him my family wants to see me after all these years. What if he wants to play a fixer in our relationship?' "Nothing really. It's just some... people that abandoned me are trying to reconnect because they found out I'm dating you. I know, shameless, right?" I scrunched my nose and clicked my lips. "Of course I turned them down, but they've been distu

"Do you know how hard it was to—" I ended the call and dropped my phone on the kitchen island like it was lava. 'After all these years... After all these years...' My legs turned heavy as I stumbled back and pressed my hand against my chest where my heart raged. 'Why would she call me now after all this time?' *Ring Ring* 'What does she want with me? Why is she calling me when she and my fath— her husband have disowned me? Did Bruno go and talk with them? That can't be a good reason.' I stared at the phone as it rang, and my hand refused to move. 'No, I'm sure it's because they heard Sebastian and I are dating. I can bet she wants to reconnect because of him. He's rich and will be good for business. It makes sense why she would call me after all this time.' My eyes narrowed at the phone as the call ended and another one came in almost in the next second. 'She isn't going to leave me if I don't answer, is she?' I scowled and grabbed my phone. I took a deep breath and let it

"The three of us? As in you, me and Tiffany!" I gasped and took a step back."Yes," Sebastian nodded."Oh," I mumbled.'No! No! No! No!' I screamed in my head. 'I can't meet your parents, Sebastian. Lying from afar is bad enough, but lying to their face? That's too far. I knew I was going to meet them soon, but I didn't expect it to be so soon. I've barely even accepted that I'm his pretend girlfriend, and now his parents want to see not just me but my daughter too. What if I mess up? I could blow our whole cover before it even started. Ugh, I knew this was a crazy idea, but I never expected it to be this crazy. What—'"Aurora," Sebastian's gentle whisper pulled me out of my mind. "Maybe I shouldn't have told you now.""It's alright. The earlier, the better." I said and ran my hand through my hair. "Do you think it's too soon? If we were actually dating, don't you think it would be too early to introduce me to your parents?""I know, but they're completely adamant. I've never seen th
