Chapter 3

Author: Serein M
Caspian had flown to the Southern packs at dawn to handle pack business.

Before he left, his breathing still ragged, he whispered a promise in my ear. "I'll be back soon. And when I return, I'll make it official."

I didn't ask what he meant.

As long as he knew I was carrying his pup, he would make me his Queen.

But the days he was gone were hell.

My conversation with Isabella had been overheard.

The pack members all thought I’d seduced a common guard.

Meanwhile, Damien publicly announced at a pack meeting that Isabella was his one and only future Luna. He demanded everyone treat her with the same respect they showed him.

"Did you hear? Our oh-so-proper ceremony planner has lost her mind."

The whispers in the dining hall were like poisoned darts.

"Hooking up with a guard? She has no shame."

"Master Damien doesn't want her anymore. She has to settle for some nobody to get her fix."

No one saw me go into the King's suite, so they gossiped freely.

Damien heard them. His face turned grim, but he said nothing to defend me. He just turned and walked away.

The pack members trying to suck up to the future Luna started openly defying me.

I put down my fork. My plate was untouched.

They had tampered with my food.

The stench of rancid fish oil rose from the steak. The bread had shards of glass in it. The soup had some black substance floating on top.

"What's wrong? Not eating?" A maid approached with a fake smile. "We prepared this especially for you."

Her eyes were full of malice. I knew this was Isabella's doing.

I stood up without a word.

I walked out of the dining hall to the sound of their laughter.

"Miss Seraphina, there's a problem in the ballroom," the butler came running.

I rushed to the ballroom and found it in ruins. Flowers were torn and scattered.

The crystal chandelier was smashed to pieces.

The full moon celebration I had been planning was destroyed.

"What a shame." Isabella's voice came from the doorway. "I heard this ceremony was very important to you."

She was flanked by several high-ranking she-wolves from the pack, all of them smirking.

"Now that the celebration is canceled, your job is gone too." She sighed theatrically. "But don't worry. I hear you have new... career plans?"

Harsh laughter echoed around me.

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms.

"And another thing," Isabella took a step closer. "I hear you've been getting cozy with the men on the guard patrol?"

Lies.

Lies she was spreading.

"It's so worrying," she lowered her voice, dripping with venom. "For a woman to be so desperate, throwing herself at those crude guards. Are you that desperate? Trying to get knocked up by some mutt just to keep your place in this pack?"

The women behind her erupted in another round of jeering laughter.

"Oh, did I say something wrong?" Isabella asked, admiring her fresh manicure.

"Then again, with blood as weak as yours, any pup you pop out would be fit only to be a servant."

My blood boiled. I wanted to claw her face off.

But I couldn't.

Not here. Not now.

"Are you finished?" My voice was dead calm.

Isabella blinked, then sneered. "Still acting tough. That won't last long."

She turned and left, her cronies following her.

They were all Isabella's dogs, trying to force me out. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction.

As night fell, I was heading back to my room when I ran into Damien returning from outside.

He shoved me against the wall. His powerful Alpha scent was a net, trapping me, making it hard to breathe.

"Are you that desperate? Can't you go a second without a man?"

His face was blank, but the contempt in his eyes was overflowing.

I panicked, trying to break free, but his strength was overwhelming.

"Are you talking about yourself?" I stared into his eyes, my voice low and clear.

His eyes blazed with anger.

"Bitch! A woman like you is capable of anything."

He stared at my face, his gaze trying to pierce my soul.

Maybe my struggling annoyed him. "Seraphina," he said, "I can keep you on the side. But my Luna will always be Isabella."

My world went dark. All those years I'd spent loving him... it was all a joke.

"Go to hell."

He suddenly grabbed my chin.

"What? You want to find another man? Seraphina, don't push your luck!"

"You belong to me! Or else…"

His grip was crushing, the soft flesh of my cheeks aching.

He glared at me for a few seconds, then his grip loosened, his hand moving to caress my cheek.

His expression turned sly. "Just be a good girl."

"I can't marry you, but I can give you everything else."

I scowled. "Damien! I refuse."

He exploded in rage, grabbing my hair and slamming my head against the wall.

"Did you come to the Crescent Moon pack just to sleep around with other men? Fine! Get out! Our pack doesn't need a disgusting woman like you!"

I broke free and ran.

Leaving was a good idea. I needed a quiet place for my pregnancy.

I had just rounded the corner when Isabella blocked my path.

"Seraphina," she sneered, "trying to steal my Mate?"

I was speechless, too tired for her games. I tried to walk around her.

"Don't you dare walk away from me!" she shrieked, lunging forward and grabbing my arm.

I ripped it free with a snarl. "Get off me!"

Isabella stumbled back. Her eyes, for a split second, went wild with a sudden, terrifying idea. A cruel smile twisted her lips.

"You'll pay for this, bitch!" she hissed.

Before I could react, she raked her own perfectly manicured nails across her own throat. Four deep, bleeding gashes instantly appeared.

Then she screamed, a high-pitched, piercing sound of absolute, fake terror.

Nine months later, I lay in the manor's birthing suite, my hand locked in Caspian's."Deep breaths, my Queen! The pup is coming!" "A future Alpha King!"Ten minutes later, our daughter was born with a clear, bright cry.She opened her sharp, silver eyes the moment she was born, her tiny fists clenched, already radiating the presence of an ancient warrior queen."A prince and a princess!" Caspian dropped to one knee by the bed, kissing my sweaty hand. "My prince and princess. Thank you, my Queen."The celebration lasted for three full days and nights.Pack leaders from every continent came to pay their respects, and rare treasures piled up in the main square."A reward for my Queen," Caspian said, presenting me with a sheepskin scroll. "The deed to Pearl Island in the Azure Sea. It's spring there all year round.""You can

"Quick! Summon the physician!"Caspian's roar tore through the night.I was curled in his arms, sharp, cramping pains shooting through my lower abdomen.Damien's rage had terrified me, and my Omega body was sending out warning signals."The babies... our pups..." I clutched his shirt."They'll be fine," his voice trembled. "I swear it on my wolf's spirit."I was rushed to the sterile medical suite on the top floor of the manor."Your Majesty, the Queen's pregnancy is distressed. We need to do a scan immediately," the head physician, Dr. Morgan, hurried in."Use the best balms, the best equipment," Caspian commanded. "Any mistakes, and it's your head."In the exam room, the high-frequency ultrasound probe slid across my belly.Dr. Morgan stared at the screen, his expression shifting from tense to shocked, and finally, to ecstatic disbelief."Your Majesty! My Queen!" his voice cracked with excitement. "This... this is incredible!""What is it?" Caspian and I asked in unison."You're carr

A month later, on a full moon night, Caspian set up a romantic dinner for me in the manor's rose garden.Silver candelabras gleamed, and champagne glowed gold in the moonlight."You look especially beautiful tonight," he said, pulling out my chair.I wore a white silk gown. My stomach was still flat, but I knew a powerful new life was growing inside."I have a surprise for you," I said, pulling a folded paper from my purse.Caspian took it, a curious look on his face. He unfolded it.It was an ultrasound image. Black and white, but it clearly showed two tiny hearts, beating strong."Is this..." his voice trembled."Our pups," I said, watching the shock on his face. "Twins."The paper slipped from his hand, fluttering onto the rose petals. The next second, he pulled me from my chair and into a fierce hug."Really? Are you sure?" He could barely believe it."The physician confirmed it. They're four weeks along," I said, leaning against his chest, feeling his heart hammer."Oh my goddess.

The next morning, cries and pleas echoed through the manor. From my window, I watched a line of black cars drive away.Inside were all the pack members who had tormented me the day before."The King's orders. They are all to be exiled within the day," the butler reported to me. "They are never to set foot in the Northern packs' territory again."I gently touched my bandaged cheek, a cold smile on my lips. This was the price for crossing the Queen."We're going out tonight," Caspian said, walking into the room. "There's a private auction in Silver City."He came up behind me, his hands resting on my shoulders."Still hurt?"I shook my head. "Much better.""Those people will never have the chance to hurt you again," he murmured in my ear, his voice possessive and protective. That night, we arrived at the most luxurious auction house in Silver City. All the wolf nobility of the North was gathered here. Every item was priceless.I wore a deep blue evening gown Caspian had custom-made for m

The pressure was like a mountain crashing down. Every single person in the room was forced to their knees.Except me.A silver blur shot across the room. Before Damien could react, a fist slammed into his chest.CRACK!Damien flew backward like a broken doll, smashing into a marble pillar meters away. The entire pillar shattered, sending debris flying. He collapsed in the rubble, coughing up blood.Caspian stood before me, radiating the terrifying aura of a pureblood king.He turned and knelt, his silver eyes filled with pain and regret as he gently pulled me into his arms."I'm late," his voice was thick with self-blame.I leaned against his chest, only now realizing I was trembling.Blood was still flowing from my cheek, but I felt safer than I ever had in my life."Get the pack's head physician here! Now!" Caspian's voice was like thunder. The butler scrambled out of the room.Just then, Isabella's weak sobbing started up again."Your Majesty…" Isabella cried out weakly. "I'm alrigh

I froze, staring in horror at the new drama she was staging. This was worse than anything I could have imagined.Downstairs, pack members gasped as the scent of blood filled the air."Help! Someone's hurt!"The cry shattered the silence. Footsteps rushed in from all directions."Isabella!" Damien's roar tore through the air like a physical blow.He rushed to her, his eyes locked on the bloody wounds on her throat. He gathered her into his arms. Her face was pale, blood gushing from her neck."Baby, wake up!" Damien's voice was shaking with rage and fear. The other pack members crowded around, their eyes like daggers aimed at me."She attacked her!" someone shouted, pointing at me. "Seraphina tried to kill the Luna!""I smelled the struggle! It was her!""Murderer!"I opened my mouth to explain, but no sound came out. This was a thousand times worse than the last life."No... it wasn't her fault..." Isabella’s eyes fluttered open, her voice a pathetic, broken whisper.Everyone fell sile
