Chapter 1

The livestream chat was buzzing with comments.

I grabbed the gasoline can from the garage and splashed it all over the door, couch, and curtains without any hesitation.

"Holy shit, is she crazy? Is she really live-streaming herself burning her mansion down?"

"Isn't this mansion worth like 15 million dollars? How could she just burn it down like that?"

"I don't think she'd actually burn it all down. She's probably just doing this for clout."

"I think I recognize her. Isn't she the richest heiress in the city who just got engaged recently?"

I didn't say another word as I dropped the gasoline can on the floor and pulled a lighter from my pocket.

The viewers were still debating whether I would actually set the mansion on fire when I lit the lighter, and a huge fire erupted across the entire screen as everything began to burn. The flames shot into the sky with a loud roar, illuminating the entire street.

Everyone was completely shocked.

"No, wait! Is she for real? Is she out of her mind? What's wrong with her?"

"15 million dollars! Literally all going up in smoke!"

"Is this what rich people are up to these days? This is really frightening."

I stood in the middle of the road, watching the raging fire and feeling absolutely no regret in my heart. Instead, I felt immense satisfaction.

This mansion was nothing to grieve over, compared to the betrayal and framing by my fiance, Nigel Taylor, and my best friend, Olivia Williams, in my past life, where they painted me as the scapegoat and eventually caused the destruction of my family.

I grabbed my phone and continued showing every angle of the burning house.

Since Nigel and Olivia had used this mansion to fabricate the most perfect evidence against me, I decided to livestream its burning, giving myself the perfect alibi instead.

I turned to the camera and said, "Look, this mansion is being burned down, including the garage next to it. Everyone here can bear witness to it. At this very moment, I, Adrienna Stafford, am setting fire to my mansion, right here, without going anywhere else."

I then pulled my driver's license from my pocket and held it up to the camera.

I wasn't just going to live-stream the arson. I was going to do it while exposing my real name and live location on camera.

The fire raged on amidst the shouts, exclamations, and curses directed at me in the livestream.

Soon after, sirens pierced the night, and police and firefighters rushed onto the scene.

A smirk played on my lips as I calmly offered my wrists to the police.

"I was the one who set fire to the place. I am mentally unstable. Arrest me now, or I will continue burning down more and more houses and mansions on this street! Maybe I'll even burn down your police station too!"

When the police heard that I was planning to burn down the entire street, they frowned and immediately cuffed me.

After bringing me into the interrogation room, they looked at me with grim looks on their faces.

"Does this mansion belong to you, Adrienna Stafford?"

"Yes."

"Why did you burn it down?"

I raised my voice and purposely stressed, "Because I am mentally unstable, and I felt like burning something down! If you don't arrest me now, then I will continue burning down the entire street! I'll even burn down your police station too!"

My brazen words enraged the police officers, and they slammed their fists angrily onto the table several times.

"Do you not know that you're committing a crime? You're going to go to jail for this!"

The mention of jail time reminded me of my tragic past life.

At this moment, Nigel and Olivia were most probably out partying and drinking at a bar, celebrating receiving this mansion I'd just given to them as a gift.

I had to stay at the police station that night and create a perfect alibi for myself, no matter what.

I purposely feigned indifference to provoke the police even further.

"So what if I go to jail? How many years will I serve for arson anyway? My parents are rich enough to get me out and sweep this under the carpet anyway!"

"You've got quite the nerve! Let me tell you that money means nothing when faced with the law!"

Mom and Dad arrived at the station as quickly as they possibly could and insisted on bailing me out. However, I absolutely refused to go with them and went on a rampage in the station.

"I'm not going out! If I go out now, I'm going to find more gasoline and set fire to every house on the street! I'm going to burn all of you up!"

Mom got such a fright that she began to cry.

"Rina! What's gotten into you? What nonsense are you saying?"

I looked at her anxious, tearful face and felt my heart aching for her. However, I didn't have any time for explanations. I just couldn't afford to leave the station now, and I wasn't going to let them take me away!

I threw a huge tantrum and began rolling around on the ground, shouting, yelling, and screaming at the top of my voice, threatening to burn down everything in sight.

The police couldn't bear to put up with me anymore. They had no choice but to cuff me up again and lock me up in the tiny interrogation room to make me "reflect" on my actions, like I was in detention or something.

I looked at the 24-hour surveillance camera in the room and smiled slowly.

I didn't continue with my tantrum anymore and just sat quietly in the chair, waiting for time to pass.

This time, I had millions of online eyewitnesses and the surveillance camera in the police station as my alibi. I refused to believe that I would be framed as a hit-and-run drunk driver and murderer again.

Olivia's words left me completely stunned and speechless. At first, I thought that she and Nigel had been cheating on me behind my back. But now, she was telling me that I had been a third-party homewrecker all along!"You'd never have known this, Adrienna, but Nigel pursued me first! He and I have been dating for a very long time!" Olivia exclaimed."But you were filthy rich, and that's why he and I hatched a plan to let him pursue you and use all the money you gave him on me instead! We spent them all on hotel rooms together!"Olivia's words made me want to throw up.I stared incredulously at Nigel. To think that I very nearly married this wolf in sheep's clothing!I couldn't hold back anymore and yelled at him, "Nigel Taylor! You're such a bastard!"Nigel panicked and hurriedly clamped a hand over Olivia's mouth."No! It's not like that, Rina! You have to believe me! The person I've always loved was you! Don't listen to her nonsense!""It's not nonsense!" Olivia screamed, s

Mom sobbed as she grabbed hold of my arm."Rina! We're so sorry to have let you suffer like this. Dad and I should have come earlier for you!"I couldn't stop crying either as I shook my head and said, "No, Mom. You and Dad came just in the nick of time!"I really thought that I was a goner again in this life. Fortunately, everything had taken a turn for the better after all.Mom turned to look at Olivia beside her. She was furious at her, and perhaps also very confused about Olivia's motives."Olivia! I had watched you grow up with Adrienna since young and treated you like my own daughter! Aren't you both best friends? Why did you have to frame Rina?"Olivia looked dazed. She was still panicking internally and hadn't snapped out of it yet."Why?" she echoed, shaking her head as she choked on her sobs. Then, she lost control of her emotions and burst loudly into tears. She looked like she'd just had her soul sucked out of her as she fell to the ground lifelessly.I thought sh

The autopsy report was finally out the next day.I thought that I would finally be able to clear my name. But reality dealt me a heavy blow instead."The child was hit on the head and died instantly. The two adults died from excessive blood loss. Based on their injuries, the earliest estimated time of death for the child, who died first, should be around 9:30 pm."The forensic doctor's words struck me like lightning. That meant the accident had definitely happened before I started my live stream. In other words, my alibi was useless.I collapsed to the ground in a heap, unable to snap back to my senses for a long time."How's that possible? Doctor, are you sure that you didn't get the timing wrong? You should double-check again!"I rushed toward the forensic doctor in shock, but the police officer held me back."Stop creating trouble, Adrienna Stafford!"I refused to accept it.I had clearly livestreamed the mansion's destruction. I had already provided myself with a foolpro

"Adrienna Stafford! We are doing this for your own good!" Nigel roared in my face. "Do you know what society is saying about you right now?"They're calling you a murderer! They say that you deserve the death penalty and to rot away in hell!"We're just doing all of this for your own good! If you confess to the crime now, you might even get a lighter sentence!"I looked at Nigel's hypocritical face and couldn't help but laugh."I'm really curious about something," I said, looking at Nigel and Olivia as my emotions rose. "Both of you keep insisting that I was the one who crashed into the other car."How are you so sure? Were you at the scene of the crime? Did you see me with your own eyes? Or did the victims haunt your dreams and tell you that I was the one who killed them?"Nigel didn't even flinch. He continued fibbing, "Because we all knew when you went out drinking just now! And you were the one who drove the red Ferrari! Who else could have hit the victims if not you?"I lau

"This Ferrari appeared at this intersection at 12:12 am last night," I said. "Officer, how far is it from the crime scene to the police station?""About 15 minutes away," the police officer replied.I nodded. "That means that if I were really the one who had been driving this car at that time, at the very least, I should have still been near the crime scene at 12:12 am and 12:30 am, right?"The officer looked at me impatiently. "Yes. What is your point?"I took out my phone and opened up my livestreaming app, replaying last night's live stream. I had purposely enabled the replay function beforehand."I started livestreaming at 10:38 pm last night, and it didn't end until the police arrived at 11:27 pm. Then, I was taken straight here to the police station and detained for the whole night. I never left at all."This was the crucial timeline. It was the timeline that I couldn't prove or provide in my past life. But this time, I was clear about everything and the sequence of events.

I was brought to the police station once again. The police officer looked at me, his expression grim as he pulled out a couple of gruesome photos of the accident last night."Adrienna Stafford! You drove under the influence last night and rammed your car right into a car carrying a family of three before fleeing the scene! Not a single person in the car survived!"The forensic lab has already completed its examination. Aside from the child, the two adults could have survived if only you'd called the police and the ambulance in time! However, you left them there lying helplessly on the road until they died of massive blood loss!"Everyone gasped.Mom nearly fainted when she heard this. She looked at me, sobbing uncontrollably, repeatedly asking me what had happened.Nigel stepped forward and pulled Mom aside."Didn't you understand what the police just said, Mrs. Stafford? Adrienne spent last night drinking with some random boytoy of hers, and then insisted on driving back home a
