Chapter 486

Author: Cloud Drop
“Then sing me a song to help me fall asleep,” Aria tried a different approach.

He let out a quiet laugh, rubbing her back in slow, steady strokes. “Aren’t you a little too old for lullabies?”

Aria’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Archer, don’t play dumb.”

He patted her back again, resting his chin lightly on the top of her head. “Stop fussing. Go to sleep.”

“Archer!” she huffed. It was such a small request, and he still wouldn’t agree. That only made her more annoyed.

No matter how many times she called his name, he didn’t answer.

Lifting her face from his chest, she found him lying there with his eyes closed, looking for all the world as if he had drifted off.

She didn’t believe it for a second. He was faking.

It was just one song. Was that so hard?

Fine, maybe he didn’t sing for outsiders—but she wasn’t an outsider. She wanted to hear him.

It wasn’t just about the song. She was in a romantic mood, and she wanted to know what it would be like to hear him sing a love song to

Aria felt the damp chill of her pajama top clinging to her skin, raising goosebumps along her arms. The cold made her shiver.Archer lifted his head, and she saw that his own face was wet, strands of hair plastered to his forehead, giving him the mischievous look of a boy up to no good. Before, when his face had been pressed against her chest, the coolness hadn’t been too bad. But the moment he moved, a draft slipped in, and she shuddered.“You’re so childish!” Aria twisted and pushed at him, trying to burrow under the covers to warm up.But all that wriggling caught his attention. His gaze dropped, and he noticed the way her pajama top clung to her curves. His eyes darkened. Catching her hands as she reached for the blanket, he pinned them above her head and leaned in, his lips brushing hers. His voice came out low and husky. “Want me to warm you up?”He didn’t give her a chance to answer before his mouth claimed hers.…By the time he finally let her go, Aria was dazed, breat

Ronald was so quiet it was almost infuriating, and with that calm, unreadable face of his, he was perfect for this kind of game. Even Archer couldn’t figure out what was going through his head.So after a few rounds, Ronald still hadn’t lost once.As for Wesley and Ethan, singing was second nature to them. It didn’t count as a punishment at all, so even when they lost, they went up and sang without hesitation. They played several more rounds, and soon Wesley, Ethan, and Ronald seemed determined to team up to take Archer down.Unfortunately for them, Archer was too sly to get caught. He didn’t lose a single round. Even Aria lost twice and had to sing two songs.Archer glanced at the time. “It’s getting late.”“Last round!” Ethan said, pulling out his phone. He sent a group text to Ronald and Wesley: ‘If we can beat Archer, tonight will be worth it.’The plan got immediate approval. But after just one turn, Archer saw right through their little alliance. He raised an eyebrow, pla

Aria turned to look at Archer in disbelief. The man who seemed capable of everything… sang off-key? And not just a little—really badly?Yet Archer sat there completely unfazed, chewing popcorn straight from the bucket as if nothing was amiss. She couldn’t help her curiosity. When it came to Ethan and the others, she tended to believe them. Out in public, they all carried themselves with quiet, intimidating presence. But get them together, and they were nothing but troublemakers—though never the type to lie for no reason.Still, she was too stunned to accept it right away. She gave Archer’s sleeve a little tug, but he kept on chewing, not even glancing down at her.Leaning closer, she whispered, “Really?”He didn’t answer, though the tips of his ears flushed faintly. Under the dim lights, it was hard to notice—but she was close enough to see it. Her lips were practically brushing his ear, her gaze dropping to the warm red creeping along his skin.So there was something he wasn’t g

“I just called Aaron. He said he’s busy helping Melvin with his homework. Seriously? Do his parents just not care about that kid and dump him on Aaron? I mean, at this point, what difference does it make if Aaron gets married or not? Even if he wants to stay single, he’s basically raising Melvin like his own son.” Ethan pulled the cigarette from his lips, ground it out in the ashtray, and checked his watch with a snort. “It’s only eight-thirty and he can’t even come out? Tsk.”Since he couldn’t smoke anymore, Wesley popped a candy in his mouth. “Can you at least get your grandma to tone it down a bit? Mine showed up today and nagged me for over an hour. My ears are still ringing.”“Tone it down for what? Once the wedding’s set, your grandma’s gonna find out anyway. This was bound to happen,” Archer said coolly. That shut Wesley right up. He shook his head. “You two move fast. How long has it even been? Don’t tell me… you’re expecting already?”Aria’s cheeks flushed. What? They ha

Archer didn’t react at all, clearly unfazed by Ethan’s teasing.Aria, on the other hand, felt her cheeks warm. She hated the thought of anyone looking down on Archer when they were out together. In the past, whenever Ethan and the others invited them out, she always agreed, not wanting Archer to lose face or drift apart from his friends.“Let’s go,” Aria said, a little uneasy.“Where?” Archer asked as he lifted his phone back to his ear.Ethan rattled off the name of a bar. Archer said he knew it, then added before hanging up, “By the way, she heard everything you just said.”After the call, Archer glanced at Aria’s calm profile. “If you don’t want to go, you don’t have to force yourself.”“It’s fine. I’m not busy,” she replied, sneaking a quick look at him. “Next time they call, you decide for yourself. Don’t ask me—unless you want to do it quietly. Otherwise, they’ll just keep making jokes about it.”The truth was, Archer wasn’t the type to be henpecked. He only asked her out
