LISA'S POV

The rain hasn’t stopped for hours. It trickles down the windows in lazy lines, blurring the world beyond the glass like a watercolor in motion. I sit curled up on the couch, a soft gray blanket draped around my shoulders, one hand resting on the curve of my belly. Six months. Just three months left, and everything changes.

Again.

I run my fingers across the little blue hat I knitted last night, its yarn still holding the warmth of my touch. It’s lopsided and imperfect, but I love it anyway. It’s his first. A tiny promise that I’ll be enough, even if I’m the only one he knows.

Even if he never knows who his father is. I want to raise him with so much love.

Enough love to soften the absence. Enough to make him whole.

I close my eyes for a moment, letting the warmth from the fireplace soak into my skin. The logs crackle softly, the flames casting golden shadows on the floorboards. The baby kicks again, stronger this time, and I press a hand there instinctively.

  • Secret Baby Of the Ruthless Billionaire   Chapter 107

Bryan's POV.The walls of Vincent's office exuded power and exquisiteness. From the antique mahogany desk to the meticulously arranged legal texts lining the shelves. I sat rigidly, my fingers locked together and eyes fixed on the man who had built my case brick by meticulous brick.Vincent closed a folder and adjusted his tie before leaning back. "Bryan, from a legal standpoint, our position is airtight. We have more than enough evidence to back up your ability to properly raise Eddie. The appeal court will throw the case back and accept the previous ruling. The custody hearing is tomorrow, and based on current documentation, I'd say our probability of success exceeds ninety percent."I nodded slowly. "On what grounds exactly?"Vincent gave a small, almost condescending smile. "We've presented compelling evidence of Ms. Donovan's financial instability, lack of consistent housing, and recent arrest for disorderly conduct. She has not secured stable legal representation, and she's fail

Bryan's POVThe clink of cutlery on porcelain echoed in the quiet dining room. Morning light poured in through the high windows, catching on the crystal glasses and polished silverware. The chef had laid out a perfect spread this morning meal. It consisted of scrambled eggs, French toast which was soft , fragrant and perfectly golden, grilled tomatoes, and fresh juice but it might as well have been cardboard.Eddie poked at his eggs, his little face drawn and sullen. Across the table, Lia scrolled through her phone with one hand and held her fork with the other.I cleared my throat and said. "So, Eddie... you excited about the science fair next week?"Eddie didn't look up. "Not really."I forced a smile. "Come on, you always like building things. Remember the volcano you told me you built last year?"Eddie shrugged.Lia glanced up briefly. "Didn't it explode on the teacher?""Yeah, but that's the fun part," I said with a smile, trying to keep the mood light.Lia stabbed a piece of toa

Lisa's POVThe city had never looked so cruel. Mu stood on the edge of another bank's marble steps, watching the automated doors seal shut behind me like the gates of heaven slamming closed. Another no. Another thin smile. Another suit saying "unfortunately" like it was a holy and sacred word.My phone's battery percentage was at 12%. My throat was dry. My legs ached from standing and walking about all day. I had skipped breakfast and completely forgot lunch. All I had left was a headache and a growing suspicion that the world had conspired to break me.I crossed the street and stepped into yet another financial institution, praying for something, it not anything, to change."Hi. I'm looking to apply for a personal loan," I said, approaching the teller. The woman behind the glass blinked at me. "Do you have an appointment?""No, but I've been to three different banks today and, please I just need to speak to someone."The teller tilted her head slightly and clicked something on her co

  • Secret Baby Of the Ruthless Billionaire   Chapter 104

Lisa's POVThe air in the apartment was thick, stale, and heavy with tension. I sat cross-legged on the worn carpet of my bedroom, surrounded by a scatter of envelopes, printouts, and a half-empty cup of instant coffee. My laptop wheezed weakly in front of me, buffering on yet another loan application site."Just one approval," I whispered, hitting the refresh button. "Just one."The page blinked and then the dreaded words appeared: APPLICATION DENIED.My head dropped into my hands. My scalp ached from the constant tug of my fingers in my hair over the last few hours. The rejections were piling up like a bad joke, and the humor was lost on me. I was loosing my mind.I had applied to six different loan platforms already that morning. Each one more soulless and mechanical than the last. No phone calls. No person to speak with. Just automated rejections and thinly veiled apologies that had no genuine feelings.I pushed myself off the floor and went to the tiny closet in the corner. From

Bryan's POV The mansion was silent except for the faint ticking of the grandfather clock in the hall. I stood alone in the study, the evening light filtering through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the room. Outside, the world carried on unaware of the war I was waging - a war not fought with weapons, but with rules, restrictions, and cold, calculated moves.Lisa's absence still echoed in these walls, but I could feel the tension tightening like a noose around her life. Every restriction, every little inconvenience was a strategic cut designed to wear her down. I wasn't cruel for cruelty's sake - I was precise. Ruthless, yes, but with a purpose.Monday - The New RestrictionsThe morning briefing from my lawyer was brief and efficient. More court motions filed: a new petition to limit Lisa's access to Eddie during weekdays, insisting her visitation be supervised, citing concerns about her "emotional stability." The wording was clinical, precise - everything needed for th

  • Secret Baby Of the Ruthless Billionaire   Chapter 102

Lisa's POV I thought losing custody of Eddie would be the worst part.Turns out, I was wrong. The real hell came after. The court had barely cooled from the verdict before Bryan started turning screws I didn't even know existed. It wasn't loud, it wasn't public - no big scenes, no screaming matches. Just a thousand little things that chipped away at what was left of my sanity. It started with the school. Two days after the hearing, I went to pick Eddie up, hoping for just a few minutes. He wasn't expecting me, and I figured if I could catch him before Lia scooped him up, maybe we could grab ice cream or just sit on the swings for a bit.I never made it past the front office."I'm sorry, Ms. Emerson," the receptionist said, not meeting my eyes. "We've been instructed not to release Edward to anyone other than Mr. Ryke or the approved guardian.""I'm his mother.""I know," she said softly, almost apologetically. "But the custody order..."I felt the eyes on me. A mother from Eddie's cl
