Linda's POV
Mitch stared at me with a look of sympathy. “I’m so sorry,” he said in a soft tone. And I knew exactly what he was apologizing for. I think everyone in the plane knew that.Because of my finding out that my husband had been cheating on me.“It’s alright, it is what it is,” I replied, shrugging as if it didn’t feel like my heart was being torn into a thousand million pieces.“It’s okay to feel, you know? When we were together, you used to always suppress your emotions, pretending that you were superhuman, and that’s not healthy for you.” He flashed me a warm smile.I furrowed my eyebrows and scoffed lightly. I did not expect him to say that to me though. He was not someone who usually said deep things.“It’s not suppressing emotions that I do, I just don’t like dealing with very heavy emotions at certain times. I'd rather keep them for later.” I shrugged as if I just talked about something very common.Mitch was about to say something but then the flight attendant that had helped me brought us our food and drinks.“He’s asking to see you, do you want that?” She asked me as she handed me the cola that I chose.“Who?” I asked, confused for just a second, but then it clicked in my mind. She was talking about Chris. As if she saw the look of realization on my face, she nodded. “Should I allow him?”I glanced at Mitch, silently asking him for advice but it seemed like he did not want to be caught up in my drama so he just stared right back. But…what did I want? What did I really want? Did I want to see him?My mind immediately played a made-up scene of Chris and Meghan in bed together, kissing and tearing up each other’s clothes, causing my heart to drop.More tears pricked my eyes and I sniffled as I tried to collect myself. “No. He should stay away from me.”The attendant nodded and flashed me a small sad smile before leaving. The rest of the flight was like torture. Knowing I was in the same space as my husband who had cheated on me tore me.And having to sit next to my ex who was currently engaged to my brother woke up some weird feelings too.It was hell for me and I just wanted the flight to be over.Luckily, the plane started to descend after a couple of hours.Everyone was in their seats with their seatbelts fastened. A baby was crying loudly but the sound of the plane engines drowned it a bit. When we landed, the aircraft shook as it made contact with the road. Soon, we came to a stop and the sound of the seatbelts being taken off rang.Everyone was up on their feet, trying to grab their luggage so they could leave.“Um…Linda, he’s coming,” Mitch said to me, and I looked in the direction he was looking.I saw Chris walking in my way. My heart skipped a beat and I hurriedly tried to grab my suitcase from up.“Do you want me to help?” Mitch asked, hope-filled in his eyes.“Yes, please. I really don’t want him close to me right now,” I replied, breathing out a sigh.“Linda, stop this. We need to talk,” Chris was almost close to me, but my ex stepped in the way.“No, no, no,” Mitch said as he stepped between the guy and me. “Look here, buddy, she does not want to talk. At least not right now.”“This is none of your business,” Chris replied without missing a beat. “Now get out of my way so I can talk with my wife, you queer,” he spat the words out.Mitch was triggered immediately, and instead of processing what Chris had said, he swung his fist straight into the jaw of the guy.Chris doubled back and almost fell.My jaw dropped and I tried to get Mitch to stop. “It’s alright, please, it’s alright,”I begged him as I pulled him back.Chris released a series of homosexual slurs as he tried to attack my ex but a few people held him back.I just knew that the people on this flight were either very entertained by our shenanigans or they were very bothered and sick of us.“Break it up!” A security guard spoke authoritatively. “I said break it up!” He raised his voice when he saw that Chris still wanted to attack Mitch.I felt embarrassed, to be honest. I really did not like it when I was the center of attention. And since I boarded this plane and found out about my husband cheating on me, I had not been acting like my usual self.I had been way too emotional and impulsive.“I’m so sorry, officer,” I apologized to the man.“It’s okay, ma’am. But I would have to ask all of you to step out of the aircraft right now.”I nodded. It was understandable. Mitch and I walked next to each other as we passed not too far from Chris. He was glaring at my ex, and if eyes could kill, Mitch would have dropped dead right on the spot.“Don’t worry, with that punch, he would for sure stay the hell away from us,” he said to me, and I nodded.I was actually scared for him. He had no idea what Chris was like. The guy was not the kind of person that would forgive so easily. He was the kind of guy that did an eye for an eye. And I knew for sure that he was not going to let Mitch punch him in front of everyone's slide.“I think that’s our gate.” I pointed to gate number six. “I’m sorry, I mean, my gate. I’m going to Iowa, I don’t know where you’re going.”“Oh, what a coincidence, I’m heading down there too.” He chuckled, walking by my side as I headed for the gate.“Really?”“Yeah, I’m supposed to be there for a conference and will be staying in the Grand Hotel until it’s over.”My interest piqued, that was the same hotel that I was supposed to work at as a maid.Linda’s POVWe managed to get out of the burning room, and I swear I think I got a few burns but the adrenaline drowned the pain out. We were headed out and had no idea where the exit was due to how much smoke and fire was assaulting us from almost everywhere. The pinching pain in my belly was growing and as much as I tried to brush it off, it was getting harder to do with each step that I took.Suddenly, the roof caved in and fell to the ground causing us to be separated by angry flames. I was stuck on the other side and Chris and the others were away from me.Fear filled me and I took a few careful steps away from the raging fire. “Help!” I exclaimed.“Keep calm, Linda. We will find a way to get to you, but for now, I would recommend that you keep moving.” He pointed towards the ceiling. When I looked up, I saw that the fire was eating it up, it could fall at any second. “Okay!” I said loudly, so I could be heard above all the commotion. When I turned around to start moving, I was
Linda’s POVI had never been so scared in my life, the room held a tension that I could not describe. It felt like a nightmare, a real one.It felt like I was hallucinating all of this, but deep down, I knew that I was not. This was real, and it was something that I could not escape from. “Please, think about the baby,” I begged Mr. Kingston, tears flowing from my eyes and snot running down my nose.“Did you think of the baby before you and your friends decided to f*ici up my life?” He asked, dark humor dancing in his eyes.“Light them up,” he said, walking away. In seconds he was out of the room. Kirby flashed me a sad look before her features hardened again. She then walked out, the doctor guy following her.I sniffled and then sobbed out even more. I was beginning to smell gasoline, the smell was overwhelming. Sh*t, they were going to burn us up. My vision got blurred for a few seconds before I blinked the tears away, making it clear again. The door opened and I saw Kirby and th
Linda’s POVThe call went through but after a few rings, there was no answer. My heart was thumping in my chest and more tears threatened to spill from my eyes due to fear.“You better hope she answers, we are on a tight schedule,” Kirby warned me in a hard tone. I was praying for that too. “Call her again, maybe her phone is on Do Not Disturb,” I tried to find an explanation.“Hmm,” She mumbled in response before deciding to make the call again. This time, Fallon answers on the third ring.I let out a breath that I did not know I was holding. Kirby brought the phone close to me and put it on speakerphone. “This better be important, because I’m very busy right now,” Fallon said, it sounded like she was on a busy street because I could hear the sound of cars and people being people in the background. “It is,” I replied. “Fallon, I need your help; Chris and I have been kidnapped. The like went quiet for a few seconds and then she broke the silence. “Linda?” “Yes, Fallon, please…hur
Linda’s POVBeing bound was not a nice experience, the ropes were so tight that every time I would try to move, they would pinch my skin. But I had made my decision, I wanted to come out of here alive. I wanted my baby to come out of here alive, so I was going to do everything I was told to do no matter how messed up it would be.Kirby and the guy who I thought was a doctor soon walked out of the room, leaving me with the guy who was not too far from me.I knew it was a man because of his build but I could not tell who he was. He was wearing old and ragged clothes and seemed to be unconscious because his head was bent over in a weak way.“Are you okay?” I asked, attempting to see if he was awake even though I felt he was not. There was no reply. So I sighed and then glanced around the room, looking to see if I could find a way of escape, but it seemed like the only way to get out here was through the door. There were two windows in the room but both of them had iron bars that did not
Linda’s POVThe car soon came to a stop, it had been a long ride. “Take her inside,” Kirby commanded and the Doctor did as he was asked. He opened the door and got down before gesturing that I do the same. I did not want to be hurt and did not want my baby to be hurt either so I did as he told me. I got down from the car and glanced around. It was now dark but the lights from on the property were impressively bright. Acres of land stretched from both sides that I looked at, and a huge stood not too far from me. It looked like a castle. It was stunning but it had a dark energy that caused my heart to skip a beat. I already knew who was behind this. I mean, I had my suspicions at first but they had now been confirmed. The thought of Chris entered my mind and I felt a heaviness that I could not ignore. Why did they have me tell him that I was on a street that we were miles away from? Had it been a way to get him alone so they could harm him? Oh my gosh, I did not know what I would do
Chris’s POVKidnapped? The word rang in my ear over and over, and I could barely hear a thing after she had said that. The car behind mine honked loudly and I was pulled out of my trance. “Clink Street? You said you’re being held at Clink Street?” I needed to make sure that I had heard her right. “Yes…” Her voice broke before a shudder followed shortly after. Then the call dropped. I tried to call but there was no answer. So I tried again; again and again. And with the cars honking behind me as I was parked at the traffic light, blocking their way, I knew that I had to put it all aside for only a few seconds. My mind raced as I tried to make sense of what had just happened. Lind, my wife, was kidnapped. The thought was incomprehensible, surreal. But I could not afford to dwell on it. I had to act, I had to act fast. With a deep breath, I refocused on the present. The light that was was still green, so I finally drove and ignored the road rage that I was getting as I pulled to the
