I Always Mess Up

Chris’s POV

I waited with bated breath for Linda’s response. I was scared that maybe by my line of questioning, that I had upset her. So I had my fingers crossed as my nerves danced all over the place.

“You’re asking me about the five million dollars but you just took out a million dollars too, right?”

I chuckled a bit. “Yeah? But was it five million?” My mouth was working on its own, and I feared that I was going to mess this up. I had called her to find out how she was doing, it was never about the money.

I did not care even if she took a billion dollars from our account. But here I was, messing it up and letting my ego lead me.

I heard her scoff on the other end. “I think you’re forgetting that it’s my money too. It’s a joint account.” Her tone was hard, and I could tell that she was getting annoyed or was already there.

“Alright, whatever,” I replied. “Can we just drop it? All I wanted to know was if you were okay, not to start an argument.”

    Linda’s POVThe car soon came to a stop, it had been a long ride. “Take her inside,” Kirby commanded and the Doctor did as he was asked. He opened the door and got down before gesturing that I do the same. I did not want to be hurt and did not want my baby to be hurt either so I did as he told me. I got down from the car and glanced around. It was now dark but the lights from on the property were impressively bright. Acres of land stretched from both sides that I looked at, and a huge stood not too far from me. It looked like a castle. It was stunning but it had a dark energy that caused my heart to skip a beat. I already knew who was behind this. I mean, I had my suspicions at first but they had now been confirmed. The thought of Chris entered my mind and I felt a heaviness that I could not ignore.
