LOGINHazel’s P.O.V.
“It seems that you are having your time of day, Hazel.” My jaw clenched, and I stared at Brad blankly when Keith spoke to me.
Brad was pale and slowly moved back in fear.
“It's none of your business.” I didn’t hide my hatress when I felt his anger. His black eyes were still cold, but with a hint of anger now.
He shouldn’t have come here when he is supposed to be with his chosen mate.
He stared at me for a few seconds before chuckling. He slowly took a step towards me, but it was enough for me to sober up a little.
I felt a bit hot, which was understandable. I really had consumed so much of wolf’s alcohol.
It couldn’t be the bond still affects me.
He is already marked. I could see the mate mark on his neck. Although my vision was a little blurred, that mark was like a display on his neck.
“My wolf, he is crazy about you, Hazel. Although you are worthless to us without your wolf, you are still appealing with all your curves.” My heart almost stopped beating, and my eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
His face was dangerously close to mine, but I was now more sober than I should have been with all that amount of alcohol in my system.
I couldn’t believe that my mate was such a jerk!
“Get away from me, you asshole!” I spoke to him in a hoarse and cold voice.
He laughed through his chest, and that grumbling sound sent a chill through my spine. I looked around, and my eyes widened in horror when I realized that the whole bar was now empty.
I snapped my head in his direction, narrowing my eyes a little.
“You are an orphan, Hazel. Above all, a wolf-less omega. You are lucky that I am still considering you to keep you with me as my mistress.” He spoke to me huskily, but every word coming out of his mouth was like a sharp dagger stabbed in my heart.
“I am your fated mate, not your mistress.” I snapped at him, and I didn’t know from where I got the strength to push him hard after pressing my hands on his chest.
He stumbled backward and growled angrily.
“A year, Hazel. I fought hard against the mate bond for a whole year when all I wanted was to mark you and feel you senselessly. It was so hard, and now you are here.” He spoke with the same sinister tone while looking at me with lust.
“Tonight, for a second, I felt as if I sensed your wolf. I swear that was the most overwhelming feeling." My heart almost leaped out of my mouth when the words came out of his mouth.
"But I knew that it was only my mate bond with you playing with my emotions so that I accept you, but I need a strong and powerful mate like Naisha, not a wolf-less omega like you.”
His words filled with disgust for me, still hurt like hell.
“F**k you and your wolf, Keith. Even if I am a wolf-less omega with no family or pack, I find you more disgusting than the garbage in that trash bin.” I tugged the collar of my top, feeling hotter than earlier, but anger took over my rationality.
Keith growled in anger but suddenly smirked, which confused me, but my breath started ragging for no reason.
I jerked my head a little to sober myself a little, but the temperature of my body continued rising.
“You still didn’t understand your condition, did you?” he asked me sarcastically, a sinister smile dancing on his lips that made me feel trapped again.
I snapped my head in Brad’s direction, but he was long gone. I looked at the bottle of alcohol from which Brad was pouring alcohol for me and narrowed my eyes.
“You drugged me.” I muttered angrily, holding the edge of the counter tightly when all I wanted right now was to pounce on Keith.
He didn’t reply but laughed while giving me a knowing look. “How could you?” I shouted at him, feeling betrayed in the worst way.
Worse than choosing a mate over me.
I was now breathing heavily; the drug took effect on my body.
“Stop fighting, Hazel. You want me as much as my wolf, and I want you,” He cooed sinisterly and got closer to me.
Damn it.
If I didn't do anything, he would succeed.
I mustered my courage and looked in his direction.
“I, Hazel White, daughter of Nester White, reject you, Keith Locke, Alpha of Black Lotus Pack, as my mate and my alpha. May the Moon Goddess sever our ties forever.” There was no hesitation or pain in my voice, only sheer determination.
All I could feel for him right now is disgust.
He immediately clutched his chest tightly and fell to his knees again as he was about to stand up.
He looked at me in disbelief, but I wasn’t better than him.
The rejection hurt more than it should have, as he had already finished marking the ceremony with someone else.
Or it might be because of the drug in my system or Xyla’s absence; I felt like dying.
It sobered me up a little, but I needed to get out at any cost.
Keith was now enraged, and he growled aloud in pain and anger while clutching his chest tightly.
“How dare you?” he roared, but I started crawling on the floor towards the exit.
The good thing was that he had sent away everyone.
So, no one to stop me.
I gasped in horror when he grabbed my right ankle.
Without looking back, I kicked hard. My shoe struck his face as he was still on the floor.
He howled aloud in pain, and I scrambled towards the door.
I was now on the verge of stripping off my clothes at any time.
I stood up out of the door with the wall support and tugged my collar harshly.
My vision was now blurred, but I kept on walking straight. I remembered that there was a back exit after turning right a few feet away.
So, I didn’t stop.
“Come back, you can’t go away from me.” Keith roared aloud behind me, making me almost run in that direction.
At some point, I tore off my collar, exposing my neck and the upper part of my breast.
I was now out of strength, too. I moved according to my memory and suddenly collided with a wall.
Hazel’s P.O.V. (Continued)At the same time, they all lunged at us all together. Janet immediately stepped forward while extending her nails and attacked back.I swung the last bag that was still in my hand on the two rogues who attacked me. Most of them came to me.So, I was sure that they were here for me, but Janet’s presence had put her life in danger too. Janet was also a trained warrior. So, with my fight against them as a human and her as an alpha wolf, we fought fiercely. They all had covered their faces, but we could see their eyes. They had black leather gloves on their hands and all of them were in black clothes as if it were their uniform. They snarled aloud, threatening us to submit to them while trying to injure me with their extended nails. They all attacked at once. Even when I threw them away, they lunged at me again together.Janet continued roaring for security, but for some reason, they were taking forever to approach this. The rogues had masked their smells, but t
Hazel’s P.O.V. (Continued)To be honest, Janet’s enthusiasm and cheerfulness are contagious. With her, I felt like a normal person with no problems in life at all.I laughed with her, welcoming the coldness of the air slapping my face.“We have so much to do today. It’s girl day.” She screamed at the top of her lungs while punching the air high over her head.“Be careful,” I yelled in panic when she left the wheel suddenly. She laughed while taking the wheel again.“Look at you. A scary cat.” She teased me, and I just glared at her in response. But I love this feeling of being reckless sometimes. In just a few days, our friendship became so strong that we spent most of our free time together. She started visiting Mary with me, having lunch with me, and having me with her during her rounds in the hospital. She wasn’t a friend of words. She also super protective towards me.Two days ago, a patient lost his control and attacked us during our evening rounds.Janet not only protected me by
Hazel’s P.O.V. (Continued)I smiled when I saw Cody coming towards us. I saw Janet stiffening in my peripheral vision.“Shall we?” He asked me while wrapping his hand around my waist loosely.I hummed in response and looked at Janet again.“I will take my leave now, Dr. Wilson,” I spoke to her politely. She nodded in response and slowly stepped away. Both I and Cody walked away together.“Did she bother you?” Cody asked me worriedly while walking.“Nope. She came to apologize. She has some misunderstandings, but we cleared them.” I replied calmly.“That’s good. I guess I also need to talk to her.” Cody muttered, but I shook my head gently.“If this is about overtime, and that attack, you don’t need to. She is not behind the attack. She can’t be.” I spoke confidently but kept my voice calm.“How can you say that?” Cody asked me, surprise written all over his face.“Because there is no way that she will do anything to jeopardize her engagement with Alexander,” I replied to him with a ca
Hazel’s P.O.V.“You should stay home for a few days, Hazel. You still looked so pale.” Cody spoke worriedly, cupping my face with one hand.I smiled and leaned my face on his palm and rubbed it gently like a cat rubbing her head.“I am okay now. And staying at home will only make me sicker. I will think about the kidnapping, and it’s not good for my mental health, right?” I replied to him calmly, smiling gently in the process. He was still worried but pursed his lips and nodded in understanding.“That’s right. Okay. But you will not go back alone, okay? We will go together after work.” He instructed sternly, and I just rubbed my face on his palm again. He laughed this time and pinched my cheek. I hissed in pain and glared hard at him.“Go.” He whispered dotingly while patting my cheek gently.I grimaced and spun on my heel. I heard him laughing behind me, but I didn’t look back.I went straight to the locker room.“Hey, Hazel. Are you okay now?” Zara asked me when I met her at the loc
Alexander’s P.O.V. (Continued)She moved her gaze away, biting her lower lip in the process. It’s a habit. She bit her lower lip when she lies.“We are mates, Hazel. We can feel each other’s emotions very well.” I spoke coldly, still looking at her face with an intense gaze. She stopped biting her lip for a second, then started it again. She was not only scared but anxious too.“I know that you are lying, but I am not pressing you to tell me everything. You have your reasons, and I respect that.” I continued, trying to assure her that I am not going to force her into anything that she doesn’t want to do or to tell. She looked at me immediately – her gaze was now filled with gratitude and pain. Tears were still there.I gulped hard, feeling a tightness in my chest. She was still Cody’s wife, but she trusts me.“You don’t need to leave the pack, Hazel. We are still mates, and for the sake of our mates, we need to stay close to each other.” I spoke calmly, suppressing the storm of emotio
Hazel’s P.O.V.I shifted uncomfortably on the chair, looking here and there but not at Alexander, who was busy on a phone call near the window. It was a work call. So, I didn’t try to listen to him.Cody got a call from the hospital. So, he left me at Alexander’s office as Alexander demanded my presence here.I waited for him to finish the phone call, but I was dreading the worst. Will he ask me to leave the pack?Cody told me that Hunter interrogated the kidnapper. What did the kidnapper tell him? Did he tell him about his employer or the reason why he wanted to kidnap me?There were so many questions in my mind, but more than that…I was scared of what I was going to do next.Alexander finished his call and slowly walked towards me.I still didn’t look at him but continued fidgeting with my fingers on my lap.I gasped aloud when he suddenly wrapped his hand around my upper chest from behind and put his chin on my shoulder.“A….lex.” I spoke fearfully, dreading that someone would ent
Hazel became more anxious when she noticed anger pooling in Alexander’s eyes. She thought that he was now bothered by her being wolf-less.On the contrary, Alexander was confused by her presence here, and anger filled his heart when he saw how close Cody was to his mate.Velan was ready to rip Cody
Cody was still holding Hazel's hand. He squeezed her hand gently, comforting her that everything would be okay and he was with her.Hazel smiled tightly, but the restlessness that both she and Xyla were feeling didn’t let her relax a bit.Cody felt helpless in front of her emotional turmoil. He wis
Alexander’s P.O.V.Only I knew what it took me to keep myself calm all the way to the hospital. The person who mind-linked me earlier reported me every two minutes, but those two minutes were like hell. And the time that we took to reach the hospital was like an eternity.“You should have marked he
Alexander’s P.O.V. (Continued)“Don’t give me that look, Hunter. I am not the first wolf who found his fated mate.” I grumbled, glaring hard at him angrily.“Who is she? Where is she?” he asked me hurriedly, straightening his body, leaning towards the desk.I pursed my lips into a thin line, feelin
