a joke of the ceremony

Alexander’s P.O.V.

I regretted coming to Keith’s mating ceremony the most. Keith was distracted during the whole ceremony, and it was noticed by everyone present in the room.

So, Naisha Holt wasn’t his fated mate as he had claimed.

I watched the whole ceremony with an amusing smirk dancing on my lips. No matter if she was his fated mate or not, he shouldn’t make a joke like this on her special day.

Even when he marked Naisha, he was looking at someone else, I guess.

At least I didn’t feel bored while listening to the gossip going around about them.

Right after finishing the marking, he slipped away, leaving his mate standing stunned at the altar, facing those mocking gazes alone.

Our pack was in alliance with the Black Lotus Pack, and as the present alpha of my pack, the Stone Shadow Pack, I had to come here.

I also left as early as I could from the joke of that ceremony and headed towards my hotel to get my luggage so that I could leave this pathetic pack.

The air felt suffocating here. On top of that, Velan, my wolf's constant nagging was getting on my nerves.

I stopped my car at the bar a little far from the hotel and got out of the car.

“What’s wrong?” My beta, Hunter, asked me while approaching me as he was in the other car behind me.

“Velan happened. I guess I need a strong drink before we set off for the pack.” I grumbled while walking towards the entrance of the bar.

“I am coming with you.” He told me behind me.

“Nah. It’s just a drink. You go to the hotel and ask Bill to drive my car too. I will walk to the hotel after the drink.” I replied to him nonchalantly, walking towards the entrance without looking at him while waving my hand casually.

I thrust my one hand in my pant pocket and played with my phone in my other hand while walking.

A tall and burly he-wolf suddenly appeared in front of me and stopped me at the entrance of the bar.

I recognized him as Keith’s beta.

“I am sorry, Alpha Nickelson, but the bar is closed for tonight.” He apologized to me while bowing his head, but I furrowed my brow.

“I only need a drink.” I spoke to him calmly, but I felt uneasiness in my heart.

He still smiled apologetically.

“My apologies, Alpha Nickelson. I will arrange for someone to get the best alcohol that we have to serve you in your room.” He replied to me calmly, but I sensed something odd.

Because Keith’s scent was fresh in the air, it meant he was also here.

I just nodded while looking at David warily but moved back.

Whatever is going on here is not my concern.

“Go back. Get inside. Something is really wrong.” Velan urged, almost barked at me, giving me a headache.

“Goddess, Velan!” I grumbled hard but decided to follow his instincts. Even if this had nothing to do with me, I also felt an urge to check on the situation inside the bar.

So, I walked in the direction of the hotel as David was still watching me but slipped into a dark and narrow alley at the corner.

I always stayed in the same hotel whenever I came here for business or any other purpose. So, I knew that there was also a back entrance. I took advantage of the darkness and ran towards the backside of the bar.

The wall was more than 12 feet high, but I jumped over the wall easily. I chose the darkest part of the back alley to jump so that no one could see me.

I ducked a little and jogged towards the back door without producing any sound. Years of warrior training helped me stay light on my toes.

For some reason, my heart was now racing hard, and Velan was on the verge.

I reached the door and immediately opened it.

What welcomed me was the most intoxicating and alluring scent of rose and vodka.

Followed by a beautiful girl who collided with me hard and almost fell backward, but I reacted immediately and pulled her up by her waist to my chest.

“Mate.” Velan growled aloud at the back of my mind at that same instant when the sparks shot up all over my body.

“Mate.” Velan growled aloud in pleasure and anger one more time when I didn’t react.

How could I react?

I am already 29 years old, and I had given up hope of finding my fated mate long ago.

Yet, she is here.

Disheveled, clothes torn, scared, and……

Drugged?

What the f**k?

“Help me.” My whole body shuddered so hard when she pleaded in a raspy and intoxicated voice, her hands clutching my collar tightly.

Who dared to not only drug my mate but also touch her?

The instinct of killing that man was so strong that I was about to go inside to find that man but stopped when she moaned in pain.

“Take her away from here. She is in danger.” Velan growled aloud, fighting for control.

I pushed him back deep in my mind and scooped her up. She was so soft and light. I felt as if I scooped up a bundle of cotton.

At the same time, something slipped from her hands, but I grabbed it before it fell. I heard hurried footsteps and someone shouting aloud.

I ran out, securing her into my embrace, and jumped over the wall before anyone could approach us.

My heart was thudding hard against my ribcage, but the problems were her hands.

She was drunk and drugged. Her hands were roaming all over my neck and upper chest restlessly.

I ran towards the hotel, holding her tightly.

My body reacted so badly when her soft and plump lips brushed against the skin of my neck.

Call it the wrong time; she kissed the marking spot on my neck.

I entered the hotel from the back gate and ran upstairs instead of waiting for the elevator.

“Help me.” She moaned against my neck, her hot breaths increasing my body temperature, and her hand found its way inside my shirt.

“Damn it. You need to control yourself, my love. I don’t want to mark you or mate with you when you are not in your right senses.” I coaxed her in a hoarse voice, but she whimpered and squeezed my n*pple tightly.

I stopped breathing; my already hardened s*aft became steel hard, threatening to tear up all the clothed boundaries down there.

It’s my sheer luck that the corridor was empty when I reached the floor where my suite was.

I almost collapsed at the door with her in my embrace when she suddenly bit the same spot on my neck.

“Sober up, woman. You are calling the disaster.” I threatened her in a hoarse voice, and she whimpered aloud, still hiding her face at the junction of my neck and shoulder.

After swiping my card, I burst open the door and ran towards the bathroom. The drug had taken effect on her to the full extent, as her body temperature was dangerously high.

She moved her lips on my neck, continuing to kiss here and there.

I reached the bathroom and tried to put her inside the bathtub, but she refused to let me go. I almost lost my balance but pressed my hands at the edge of the bathtub.

I was hissing in pain when something sharp cut my palm. I forgot that I was still holding that pendant in my palm.

I groaned and put it inside my pant pocket. She was an alpha by blood, I could say. Her wolf is strong, and I sensed something mysterious about her, but I don’t remember knowing her as an alpha’s daughter of any other pack.

Neither Keith nor his father had a sister. So, who is she?

She continued kissing and sucking all over my neck while I waited for the tub to fill with the cold water.

This is the only solution that I have right now.

My whole body stiffened when I heard a very faint sound of tearing clothes.

I looked down and regretted looking there. She had ripped off both her top and bra.

Before I could stop her, she ripped off my shirt too.

“Too eager, huh?” I asked her teasingly, but lust started clouding my judgement.

She moved her head away from my neck, and I saw her face clearly.

She had a small heart-shaped face with a broad forehead.

Sharp fox-like brows, and those intoxicated and alluring almond-shaped eyes were so captivating that I couldn’t help but lean and kiss them.

She moaned in pleasure, sparks shooting like jolts of electricity everywhere.

I wrapped my hand around her torso and entered the bathtub.

The water was ice-cold, but her body was burning like a furnace. I didn’t close the tap and let the water flow out of the bathtub.

She suddenly pushed me backward. My back hit the bathtub wall, and before I could react, she strangled me, pressing her naked upper body on my naked chest.

“So cold.” She moaned while looking at me with those beautiful hazel eyes. Intoxication made them more alluring. She slowly pressed her clothed c*re over my steel-hard shaft, scratching my chest in the process.

I cupped the back of her head, pulling her face closer to me.

Kissing her in this state is not a bad thing, right?

She is my mate, and I have every right to kiss her, right?

But it seems that my mate was more eager than me. Blame it on the drug in her system.

She crashed her lips onto mine in a clumsy kiss—eagerness and desire both evident in that. She was so cute.

I responded immediately, taking over the kiss. She moaned aloud before following my lead.

Goddess! She tasted so divine!!!!!

I sucked her lips as if I were in a hot desert and just found the oasis there.

She tried to do the same thing with my lips but took both of her lips inside my lips and bit her lower lip while sucking them hard.

She rubbed her hard n*pples against my chest, making it hard for me not to flip her and f**k her. I cupped the bottom of her hips and rocked her lower body over the hard shaft.

I thrust my tongue inside her mouth, ravishing every inch of her mouth. I grabbed the hem of her jeans when I felt pressure at the back of my mind.

“What?” I barked angrily, pissed with the interruption.

“Where are you? There is a problem out there.” Hunter asked me anxiously through mind-link.

I looked at my mate and scowled darkly when I found her sleeping peacefully on my chest now.

“What happened?” I asked Hunter in a grim tone, holding my mate safely in my embrace and slowly standing up.

The good thing was that her body temperature was normal.

The bad thing was that I was still steel-hard.

“Keith and his beta have sent people all over the pack in search of someone. They asked me about your whereabouts a few minutes ago.” He replied to me, and I scoffed internally.

“I am at my room. If his beta asked you about my whereabouts again, tell him that I am still waiting for the wine bottle that he offered me earlier.” I instructed him casually, suppressing my urge to be sarcastic, but I knew that Hunter got the implication.

“Got it, bro.” Hunter replied to me before cutting off the mind link.

I put my mate on the bed and moved all the strands of hair stuck on her face behind her ear. She was beautiful.

Her face was still slightly red, making her irresistible, but she was now unconscious, and I am a man of principles.

I sighed when I looked down on myself.
