Chapter 5

Author: Summer Dream
At the last second before darkness swallowed Rosa, all she heard was the pack's cheers and Ivy asking, "Why is Luna Rosa unconscious?"

Right away, an urgent voice called out, "Rosa!"

How noisy. Rosa thought that maybe it wouldn't be so bad if she just died right then. However, with only four days left until their bond dissolved, dying now would be such a waste.

When Rosa came to again, she was lying in the healing hall.

Her throat burned like it was on fire. She tried to speak, but no sound came out. Outside the door, she could hear someone sobbing.

"I'm sorry… I really didn't know that there was silver in it."

Ivy's voice sounded broken and helpless. "If anything happens to Luna Rosa, I'm willing to give my life to make up for it…"

"What are you saying?"

Kyle's voice rang out, but he wasn't scolding Ivy. "Don't talk about giving up your life so casually. She has a strong body. She won't die."

Rosa stared blankly at the ceiling. Her eyes felt rather dry. Even though she had nearly died, in his eyes, she simply wouldn't die.

The portiere rustled, and Kyle stepped in.

There was hardly a flicker of relief or joy in his eyes when he saw that Rosa was awake. He merely remarked, "You're awake? Ivy spent half the night kneeling outside because of you. Since you're fine, let's call it even."

Rosa stared at him, questioning him with nothing but her gaze.

Kyle frowned. "What's with that look? It's not like Ivy did it on purpose."

Then, without giving Rosa another glance, he took Ivy, who was still wiping her tears, by the hand and strode away.

For the rest of the day, Rosa lay alone in the healing hall.

She could hear the cheers of the pack from the window.

Kyle had taken Ivy hunting in the forest. Rosa had begged him to take her there for three years, but he never did.

Rumor had it that Ivy caught a snowshoe hare, and Kyle was so pleased he rewarded the whole pack.

Rosa shut her eyes, burying the bitterness deep within her. On the day of her discharge, the sky was overcast. A storm was approaching.

Kyle's car was waiting in front of the healing hall, but he wasn't there for her. He was holding a bouquet of white irises. Seeing Rosa come out, he tossed them to her. "For your father's memorial."

Rosa caught the flowers, thinking maybe Kyle hadn't completely forgotten about her after all. However, as she opened the car door, she found Ivy already seated in her seat.

Instead of making a scene, Rosa silently got into the back seat. By the time they reached the cemetery, it was already pouring.

The guards watching over the cemetery rushed over. Worry was etched on their faces. "Alpha Kyle, the recent heavy rains have loosened the soil on the hill. The previous Alpha's tomb is at risk of collapse. We need to relocate the urn immediately."

Kyle nodded. "Alright. Get to it."

Rosa struggled up the slippery stone steps. Her body was still weak.

The guards quickly dug open the tomb and took out the urn.

"I'll take it," Rosa said, waving the guards aside before picking up the urn.

She pressed the icy urn to her chest, and it gave her a faint sense of long-lost comfort.

"Luna Rosa, the rain's coming down hard. Allow me to shield you with this."

Ivy came up beside her without warning. She was holding a black umbrella.

"There's no need!"

Just as Rosa tried to move aside, Ivy slipped and fell forward in a panic.

Rosa, who was already weak, lost her balance from the impact and fell backward.

Her back slammed hard against the edge of the stone steps. The sudden pain made her vision go dark, and her hands fell slack on reflex.

The obsidian urn slipped and flew from her grasp. With a crisp crack, it shattered into pieces.

Kyle left the northern wastelands. While making their way back to the Silver Moon pack, the group suddenly ran into trouble.Several dark figures leaped out from behind the rocks. Leading them was John, the same werewolf who should have been locked in the dungeon. He had taken his half-wolf form, and there was a grin of delight on his face. "Didn't expect that I'd be out, huh, Kyle?"Kyle glanced at the familiar figure behind John, but his eyes showed little surprise."Ivy," he called out flatly. His voice was devoid of emotion. "You freed him?"Ivy stepped from the shadows. Her face was twisted with madness. "So what if I did? You made me do it! I hated you for toying with my feelings, Kyle! You'll die here today!""What makes you think you can kill me?"Kyle scoffed, instantly shifting into his wolf form.John transformed too, leading the attack. "Get him! Tear him apart!"The two groups clashed.John had the advantage of numbers, so he was confident that he would win. Unfo

The fight didn't last very long. Kyle might be a strong Alpha, but against Leon, who grew up in the harsh northern wastelands, he didn't stand a chance. After a few exchanges, Leon had beaten Kyle so badly that he could not get up. Even so, he refused to leave. He and his group settled near the Snow Wolf pack's territory.Wherever Rosa went, whether it was to eat or to the bathroom, Kyle followed her everywhere.Leon fiddled with a bone-carved dagger. His gaze was menacing. "What an annoying pest. Want me to bring a few wolves to finish him off?"Rosa sighed. "No. I'll go talk to him. I have some things to say anyway."…At the birch forest outside of their territory, the snowstorm had eased some. The moment Kyle spotted Rosa coming over, his once-dim eyes lit up. He thought she had finally come to her senses. He just knew that if he lowered his stance, Rosa would relent. "Rosa!"He handed her the flowers he had prepared. "Look, these are your favorite… I looked everywhere for

On the snow-covered plains, the two forces faced off. Standing in the front, Kyle looked a lot thinner, and his eyes seemed sunken. The moment Rosa emerged, his breath caught, and a spark of light appeared in his eyes."Rosa…" he said hoarsely. He instinctively wanted to rush forward, but a tall figure blocked his line of sight.Leon stood between them, twirling a knife casually. There was a cocky smirk on his lips."Well, well. If it isn't Alpha Kyle from the south who lost his mate. Why did you come all the way to my territory to cause trouble instead of searching for her?"Kyle glared at Leon, and his voice was icy. "As if you don't know! Step aside. This is between Rosa and me."Leon raised an eyebrow. "Between you and Rosa? Rosa's mine now. You want to touch her? Maybe you should ask the knife in my hand for permission first.""Get out of my way!"Kyle didn't want to argue with Leon any longer. His oppressive Alpha aura surged around him instantly. He got around Leon and

"Shut up!"Having the ugliest, most hidden truth about himself exposed, Kyle flew into a rage. He kicked Ivy hard in the chest, sending her flying a dozen feet away."Say one more word, and I'll rip your tongue out!"Just then, Blake rushed in. "Alpha Kyle, there's news about Luna Rosa!"Kyle's eyes lit up instantly. "Where is she?"Blake glanced at Ivy, who was on the floor, and hesitated for a moment before answering, "Our warriors found traces of Luna Rosa at the border of the northern wastelands…"And she really is with an unfamiliar wolf. Judging by the totem, he seems to be the leader of the Snow Wolf pack, Leon Frost. They seem to be… together now…"Kyle swayed, and his face turned pale. John wasn't lying. She really had left with someone else……Three months later, in the northern wastelands, a fire burned brightly inside a warm tent.Rosa sat on a fur rug, sharpening a dagger. With her long hair tied high, she radiated a wild, dangerous aura."Beta Rosa, here's toda

Ivy was over the moon when she got the news."I'm the Luna… I'm actually going to be the Luna? So what if she's of white wolf lineage? An Omega like me managed to beat her! Alpha Kyle only loves me!"Twirling in front of the mirror, she couldn't help but laugh out loud. What started as suppressed laughter soon turned into outright maniacal cackling. As she looked at her reflection, her gaze grew savage and hungry. She recalled all the humiliation she had suffered. She swore she would crush everyone who had ever looked down on her."Someone, get over here!" Ivy shouted at the door.A young servant hurried in. "Ms. Cline, what are your orders?"Without warning, Ivy slapped the servant. "Address me as Luna Ivy, you hopeless fool!""L-Luna Ivy, please don't be mad!" the servant pleaded, dropping to her knees.Seeing that someone who had once ignored her was now trembling at her feet, Ivy felt a thrill unlike anything she'd ever experienced. "Get up."She fixed her hair before spea

At 11:50 pm, Kyle glanced at the sleeping she-wolf beside him, fixed his clothes contentedly, and headed to the altar on time.In a great mood, he casually picked a handful of wildflowers growing along the path."Rosa? You can stop hiding now. I've come as promised," he shouted into the night. The altar remained deserted, and only the cold wind greeted him. There were just five minutes left until their bond was undone. A sudden panic gripped Kyle."Rosa? Time's almost up! Come out already!"Still, there was no response.Instinctively, he tried to reestablish their mind-link, only to realize he couldn't sense Rosa's presence anymore.A bad feeling washed over him. He raised his hand in a panic, but there was nothing there. His bond mark had vanished."No way…" he muttered. The smile on Kyle's face went rigid as the wildflowers slipped to the ground. "Weren't there still five minutes left?"It was then that he remembered Rosa asking him, "Are you sure you want to keep being b
