Rosa’s POV

“He actually called me back.” I muttered, pacing Donald's room. “Why is he bothering me, Cade? I don’t think he’s being paid to turn on me, but why can’t he see things from different angles? He’s so good at analyzing business deals, yet something about this one feels… off. I can’t even verify it myself.”

As the phone buzzed in my hand, I sighed and reluctantly answered.

“Rosa, you didn’t let me finish when I called earlier. You hung up on me.” His voice held a quiet disappointment, but I could tell he was trying to stay calm.

“I’m sorry,” I lied smoothly. “I didn’t mean to hang up on you. The connection was bad, and I couldn’t hear you clearly.”

A pause. Then, he chuckled lightly. “No problem. Hey, girl, I was just teasing when I called earlier. You take things way too seriously sometimes.”

I rolled my eyes, despite myself. “You haven’t stopped with your antics, have you? Anyway, what’s the real reason you called?”
