Chapter 5

Author: Echo
"Lucia, I know you're angry," Andrew said, sitting by my bed, his face a mask of remorse. "I'm so sorry. I was dealing with a difficult situation and had to cut the link. I didn't know..."

He reached out to touch my face. The cloying scent of sweat, cheap perfume, and sex rolled off him, and I had to fight the urge to gag.

I couldn't take it anymore. I shoved his hand away. "Don't touch me!"

My reaction stunned him. He stared at his rejected hand, then back at me, his eyes filled with confusion and hurt.

"Lucia, what's gotten into you? I'm your mate. Why won't you let me touch you?"

I took a deep breath, fighting down the rage and disgust.

It wasn't time for a confrontation yet. I had to keep up the act.

"I'm sorry," I softened my tone. "I'm just not feeling well. It's not you."

"Then tell me," he pressed, "why is your wolf's spirit so weak?"

"It's probably a side effect from the last full moon," I said, feigning nonchalance. "I used too much of my power to soothe you, and I never fully recovered."

It was a partial truth.

During last month's full moon, Andrew's wolf had been unusually feral, and I had indeed exhausted myself calming him.

Hearing my explanation, a complex expression flickered across Andrew's face before he nodded. "I see."

He reached out and stroked my hair, his touch as gentle as if he were handling a priceless piece of art. "It's my fault. I've put too much of a burden on you."

"It's not your fault," I said, the lie tasting like ash in my mouth. "It's my duty as Luna."

Andrew was quiet for a moment, then said thoughtfully, "Maybe for the next full moon, you won't have to use so much of your power."

I knew what that meant. He had already found my "replacement."

He was already planning to let Crystal anchor him during the next full moon.

"Oh? That's good," I forced myself to smile.

Seeing me smile, Andrew seemed to relax.

He leaned in, about to hug me.

But just then, his phone rang.

The sound was jarring in the quiet hospital room.

Andrew glanced at the caller ID, and his expression shifted slightly.

From the corner of my eye, I saw the name "Crystal" on the screen.

"I have to take this outside," he said, standing up hastily. "It's an urgent pack matter."

Pack matters.

His all-purpose excuse. He’d used it a thousand times.

A few minutes later, Andrew returned, an apologetic look on his face.

"Lucia, I'm so sorry. There's an emergency with the pack. I have to go deal with it right now." He leaned down and pressed a kiss to my forehead. "You get some rest. I'll be back as soon as I'm done."

"Go on," I said, nodding obediently. "The pack is more important."

But just as I expected, Andrew didn't keep his promise. He never came back.

Instead, I got another message from Crystal.

It was an ultrasound photo, with a triumphant caption underneath:

【Dear Luna, I'm pregnant. Andrew was so happy, he's rushing over to be with me for my appointment.】

(Lucia’s POV)Three days later, at dusk, I was sitting at a small table in the back of the shop, studying an ancient herbalism text."Laura," Margot said softly. "You should see this."She held up her communicator. A video was going viral on the werewolf networks.I looked up and saw Andrew in the hospital bed. I could feel the life draining out of him. Cullen looked old and broken, his every word laced with a father’s pain. After watching, I calmly handed the device back to Margot. "People don't die just because someone leaves them, Margot."See him one last time? The biggest lesson I had learned was to never again compromise my own well-being for someone else's."Not even for a destined mate?" Margot asked gently.I shook my head. "Especially not for a destined mate. True love should make you stronger, not more fragile."Just then, the wind chime on the door jingled, and a tall, lean man walked in.He was around thirty, with dark brown hair and piercing gray eyes. He wore simple trav

  • Severing My Alpha's Mark   Chapter 18

(Lucia’s POV)On the cobblestone streets of Marseille's Old Port, sunlight filtered through narrow alleys. An herb shop named "Herbes de Lune" sat quietly on a corner, bundles of dried lavender hanging by the door.Inside, the air was filled with the gentle scent of herbs. The owner, Margot, was a witch in her seventies with silver hair and sharp, deep-blue eyes. She knew I had a story but never asked, simply offering me a job and a place to stay."Laura, you can go rest," Margot said gently.Laura was my name now. A clean break from the past.I shook my head. "I'm not tired, Margot. The work keeps my mind busy."Just then, the communicator on the counter buzzed. It was the device I always carried but had never used. I looked at the flashing screen, a strange feeling in my gut. After a moment's hesitation, I answered."Hello?"Andrew's trembling voice, thick with tears, came through the speaker. "Lucia… is that you? Is it really you?"Hearing that voice, my hand trembled slightly, but

A week later, the entire werewolf world was stunned by a video that appeared out of nowhere. In it, Andrew sat on a simple chair against a stained wall. The once-handsome and powerful Alpha, the object of desire for countless she-wolves, was now so gaunt he was unrecognizable. His cheeks were hollow, his eyes ringed with black, but the most terrifying part was his eyes—empty, desperate, and flickering with a madness that was on the verge of breaking."I am Alpha Andrew," he said, his voice raw. "I'm here to make a confession."He paused, struggling to control his emotions."Three months ago, I did something unforgivable. I betrayed my Luna, my destined mate, Lucia. I… I got another omega pregnant with my child."Every wolf watching gasped. An Alpha publicly admitting to cheating on his Luna was unheard of."I know how pathetic and shameful that sounds," Andrew continued, tears welling in his eyes. "I am a coward and a liar who deserves none of the love she gave me."His voice broke."L

At three in the morning, moonlight streamed through the windows of the empty mansion.Andrew knelt on the cold marble floor, his hands clasped, facing the full moon.He was so thin he was almost skeletal. His once-perfect features were now terrifyingly gaunt, with high cheekbones and sunken eyes. This was his seventh sleepless night."Moon Goddess…" his voice was a raw whisper. "I know I have sinned… I broke my vow… I hurt her…"A tear fell from his dry eyes, hitting the cold floor."But please… I'm begging you… bring her back to me… I will pay any price… my life, my soul, anything…"Andrew’s body began to shake, not from the cold, but from the emptiness that seeped from his very bones. After losing Lucia, he felt his life force draining away. His wolf was howling, roaring, struggling in despair. The only sounds in the room were his broken prayers and a suffocating silence. This mansion, once filled with laughter, was now a tomb. The staff had been dismissed, the furniture was covered

After midnight, the rogue district in south Seattle was bathed in the dim glow of streetlights. This was the city's underbelly, a haven for wolves cast out by their packs. The air stank of cheap alcohol, sweat, and despair.A black SUV pulled to a stop in front of the "Moonlit Bar," the most notorious spot in the district. The doors opened, and two burly men got out. They opened the trunk and dragged out a barely conscious Crystal. Her expensive red dress was ruined by blood and grime, her face streaked with tears.Thump.Crystal was thrown onto the filthy concrete. She tried to get up, but her body, now without its wolf, was too weak to even stand. The rogues loitering outside the bar immediately gathered around."Gods, is that Crystal?" a woman with green hair shrieked. "The one who shacked up with Alpha Andrew?""Hahaha! Look who it is! Our 'lady' has returned!" another man with a face full of tattoos mocked. "What's wrong? Couldn't handle the high life?"More and more wolves crowde

Andrew released her, throwing her to the floor.Crystal saw her chance. She adopted her usual weak facade and started sowing discord. "I admit, I lied to you! But Lucia never loved you! If she did, how could she have left so easily?"Her words died in her throat as Andrew held out the phone, displaying the vile text messages.Line after line of chats, one explicit photo after another—every venomous word was exposed in the light.Crystal stared at the screen, her face turning whiter than the walls. Her lips trembled, but no words came out."You really went to great lengths, didn't you, Crystal? You did everything you could to drive my mate away.""I…" Crystal was speechless. The proof was irrefutable."Did you think I was going to let you go?"Andrew suddenly smiled, a chilling expression that terrified her.In the next second, his Alpha power slammed into her with the force of a tidal wave.As a prime Alpha, Andrew possessed powers beyond imagination, including the ability to shatter a
