Chapter 1

Chapter One (NOVA'S POV)

‘Come to me~’

‘Set me free~’

‘Child of Silas~’

‘Come to me~`

The voice in my head calls to me… The same words echoing through my thoughts like they had done since the day I arrived on campus. Why this mysterious voice was haunting me every night I do not know, but I had decided the moment it started up yet again tonight I was going to investigate who or what might be calling for my help.

I blindly wandered through campus, waiting for any change in tone or volume that may lead me in a certain direction. When nothing changed, I headed into the woods that surrounded the school. As I headed deeper and deeper into the darkness the calls grew more demanding, pulling me further into the welcoming embrace of the leafless branches of the trees.

After some time of searching, allowing the voice to guide me, I stumbled upon an old tower-like building. It was made of stone that was crumbling in some areas and covered in moss in others. It was obvious that it had been deserted for quite a long time and though I questioned the safety of it all I headed to the door that sat at the front of the building.

The voice practically begged me to continue my journey as I pushed the door open, the hinges creaking as it gave way. Stepping inside, I glanced over the area, my eyes already adjusted to the darkness of the night. The entrance room was completely empty besides a set of spiral stairs that looked to lead to the very top of the tower. With a deep breath to steady my nerves, I headed towards the stairs. Carefully, I made my way up them, using the wall to brace myself against. the last thing I needed was to plummet to my death in the middle of nowhere….

‘Come to me~’

‘Set me free~’

‘Child of Silas~’

‘Come to me~’

The voice continued to call to me, louder now than ever, the urgency of the voice growing as I finally reached the door at the top of the stairs. Yet again this door gives under my touch as I push it open, stepping inside a room full of old trunks and paintings.

Every item calls to me, urging me to study each one. I ignore the artificer side of me though, allowing my body to be called in by the mysterious voice and involuntarily be pulled towards the one of the many trunks. I kneel on the ground, running my hands over the top of it in search of a latch that would allow me to open it. Within seconds I find what I’m looking for, flipping the latch open before pushing the lid of the trunk up.

It’s filled with old clothing items that look like they date back to the late eighteen-hundreds. I’m about to close it back when I spot an old silver locket inside. Reaching forward, my finger brush against the locket and the voice practically screams;

‘SET ME FREE~’

Snatching up the locket, I turn it over in my hands, looking it over carefully. Against better judgement, I click the button on the side of the locket and it springs open, black mist exiting it and quickly filling the room. My breath catches in my throat as my sight leaves me, filling me with pure terror.

“Finally,” A deep masculine voice groans, as the mist finally starts to fade away, a man standing in its place across the room. He’s gorgeous in a deadly type of way. He is easily over six foot tall with long dark hair that flows to his shoulders, a chiseled jaw covered in a dusting of a beard, and dark red eyes that seem to glow in the darkness. My eyes trail down him, taking in the way his black long sleeve tunic like shirt is pulled tight over what I imagine is defined muscle on top of muscle. His black trousers hang low on his hips, gracing me with the slightest view of his v shaped abdominal muscles and dusting of hair leading a trail into his pants. “I have been trapped in that hell of a prison for far too long"
