Mag-log in*Candy POV*
I don't know how I get roped into all of this bullshit. I'm only supposed to be the resident advisor of the floor I'm on. However, it seems any time Draven asks me to do something, I feel compelled to do it.
It's no secret that I am in love with him. He barely gives me the time of day, and since the one time we fooled around, he hasn't looked at me twice in that way.
My friend Madeline says it's due to the fact that he's probably heard the lie I spread around to keep the other girls away, and is disgusted by my actions. I laugh at her when she says it, because I think it's funny.
"You are going to end up losing your job if you don't stop, Candy. That lie could ruin his reputation for nothing. His family, and their ties to the royal family will destroy you in the end," she would say, and I would shrug her off.
I don't see the harm in saying things went a little further than they actually did. We only did some very heavy making out, and I ended up blowing him in the end. However, in my truth, it was a hot, steamy, passionate night. Something I had only wished had happened.
The morning after that happened, I received a text from him saying that from that point on, we were just friends and co-workers. Nothing would ever come of us because he wanted to wait for his mate.
He was 23 at that point, and he still hadn't found his mate. So, I made it my point to ignore the text, and woo him into being mine. I'm still working my charms, and eventually, he will give in.
You see, he only has a few more months before he takes over as Alpha of the Silver Springs pack. He has to have a Luna, and if he hasn't found his mate, he has to take a chosen one. The way I see it, I'm as good of a choice as any.
These girls in this new group are very moldable. I've already spotted the mean girls, and can pinpoint who they like to aggravate the most. Remi, Naomi and Constance remind me of me at their age. I think I'll take them under my wing.
"Girls, my name is Candy and I'm going to be showing you around today. We will stop at the stairs leading to the dorms, and when headmaster Draven rejoins us, I'll take you to your rooms. Follow me," I announced.
I started towards the cafeteria, and made my way to each hallway, explaining what was what as we went. When we got to the library, the girls were given large bags full of things they would need for their classes. Mostly textbooks, supplies and their schedules, but some had essentials for any sports activities they belonged to.
After the library, we made it back to the staircase. I noticed Remi and her friends talking among themselves, so I made a point to approach them, and maybe take them under my wing.
"So, how do you think you will like it?" I asked. Remi turned her head towards me, and her eyes looked me up and down. With a smirk, she shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know. It depends on how strict the instructors are going to be. I can already see the students aren't worth a shit. Especially the ones standing around over there. It also depends on you, my new friend," she replied.
"Me? What do you mean by that?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"Well, you see, we aren't the type to do what we are told. I'll even be honest, there are some people that I like to make miserable because of who they are. Call me a bully, call me trouble, I don't care. If I don't like someone, I'll make sure they go away. I'm having trouble getting one to vanish, and just because we aren't at Hardwick anymore doesn't mean I won't keep trying," she replied. I think I underestimated this girl. However, she is just like me at her age.
You see, when I first started at ShadowFen, I was bullied relentlessly by a group of girls. When I stood up for myself, and ended up fighting Sasha Cornwell, I became the leader of that same group of girls. After that, no one fucked with me, because I was the one making sure others suffered at my hands.
"Hey, what you do is what you do. As long as no one is injured to the point of needing to be hospitalized, I don't care what you do. If you need help, let me know. I know all the secret places to hide in this place. So, who are the weaklings in this group?" I asked.
Without hesitation they started to point girls out who were under their radar. Any other advisor would be appalled, but not me. I felt like they did. Weak links needed to be weeded out. A school is only as weak as its most pitiful student.
"Then there is the biggest pain in my ass. Sage Thorne. Her parents were traitors, and our alpha took care of them for it. According to him, her dad was trying to take over his title. Treasonous parents have treasonous kids. The alpha took care of her parents, and I'm going to take care of her when the time is right. She hasn't been willing to leave willingly, so I'm going to make it to where she is forced to leave," she smirked.
On second thought, I think this girl is far worse than I ever was. If this Sage is not careful, Remi will make sure she ends up like her parents. Dead.
I wanted to encourage her to be careful, and not go too far, but I couldn't. There was something about that Sage girl that rubbed me wrong as well.
I don't know if it was her as a person, or the attention that Draven was going out of his way to give her. Either way, I had a feeling she and I weren't going to get along either.
*Draven POV*When our car finally pulled out of the pack, I was alright with leaving things how they were. Tristan and I would be back in two weeks, and Sage would join us that weekend for Diego’s swearing in. “Do you think Henry is going to give Diego problems?” Sage asked. I shook my head, and I was being honest. “No, not at all. You saw them at lunch. They were acting like best friends by the end of it all. I think Diego might be just what he needs. You heard what he said, he just wants a true friend. He hadn’t had anyone truly care for him for just being who he is since his parents died. I think Diego has the heart to help that guy, and I hope it works,” I replied. I was honest with my answer, but I had a question for her, and I had to brace myself for her answer.“I do have a question for you though, babe. Was he one of the guys in the group that tried to, you know?” I asked. She quickly shook her head. “No. Not at all. I don’t think I have ever seen Henry with a girl, ever.
*Diego POV*When I was summoned to Sage and Draven’s place, I wasn’t expecting to see Henry on their floor, passed out and hands zip tied. “Sage, what is going on here? Why is Henry on your floor?” I asked. She and Draven explained how Henry had broken into their home, and attacked Sage. Now, they needed me to help figure out what to do with him.“I don’t want him punished. He’s scared. He is being kicked out of his home, and everyone who ever cared about him is gone. He just needs someone to care about him, Diego. He hasn’t been right since his parents died. He thinks that Roland and Regent actually gave a shit about him. He doesn’t understand that they were using him,” Sage explained.I had always liked Henry. He is an amazing warrior, and Sage was right. A very misled young man. Something in me wanted to give him a chance and help him. However, I was very worried about him continuing with the ways Roland taught him.“If he’s willing, I’ll let him stay with me at the pack house. He
*Draven POV*I had planned on being back to the house a lot sooner than this. I took Tristan, Dahlia, Katherine and two warriors to the hotel, then the airport. He got a notification that their plane would be delayed by two hours, so he talked me into going to breakfast. I knew if Sage woke up she would be worried about where I was. I had fallen asleep without letting her know I had agreed to go. “Send her a text. That way she won’t worry,” Dahlia said. I laughed and told her that I would if I had remembered to bring my phone. She pulled out her phone and sent Sage a text. At least she wouldn’t be as upset, but I still hated leaving her alone there. She struggled just driving through the place. She probably would until things began to change.“Do you think it’s a good idea to keep Katherine out there with the warriors? She is a sneaky old broad,” I asked. Tristan laughed and said that they had permission to kill her if she got out of hand. I knew he was joking, but also knew that t
*Sage POV*After dinner last night, we all met back at the house to finish our discussion. It was good to spend time with my uncles, aunt and Diego just catching up. I found out a lot about what happened after my supposed death, including things about Katherine that I was unaware of. Uncle Axel told me the reason that Katherine was so anti children, and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “You know, when you were just a baby, maybe a year old, Katherine had a baby. His name was Dalton, and she was forced to give him up for adoption. Your grandparents basically had caught her neglecting him, and she enjoyed hurting him. It was sick. Your grandfather told her that she would put him up for adoption willingly, or he would make sure that she would never see him again. No matter what he had to do to make it happen. So, she gave him up. That boy was adopted by a loving family that doesn’t live too far from me. I have watched him grow up, and is a pretty smart kid,” he explained. I had
*Axel POV*After getting over the shock of seeing my niece, we sat down to a wonderful dinner. I hadn’t had this place in forever, and forgot just how amazing it really was. When the king started to explain the plan for Mystic Shadows, I wasn’t impressed. What he described was something he should have stepped in and done long ago. “Before we make any kind of decision, I need to ask you something. It may come off slightly rude, and I apologize ahead of time. However, why are you just now doing something about everything when it’s been ridiculously terrifying for so long now? There have been many of us calling out for aid and rescue from the Darlings since Sage was a little girl, but aid never came,” I said. What I said had struck a cord with him, but not in a negative way. His explanation was solid, and it was something I’m sure none of us in the pack knew. Roland had made it seem as if the kingdom didn’t give a shit about us.“Truthfully, Mr. Thorne, up until a few weeks ago, I didn
*Diego POV*Sage called and asked what restaurant we wanted to meet at. We had changed our minds a million times, so I decided to ask dad and Georgio. They decided on Sage Creek Grill, and on the drive over, my dad said something that concerned me.“I can’t wait to see her, but I don’t think I will get too close to her this time. It nearly killed me the last time,” he said softly. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Before, he was always so hellbent on never letting her go again if we had ever been able to see her. Now, he wasn’t sure. I had to find out the root of this thought process.“Please tell me you’re joking. If you pull away from her now, it will destroy all of us. She is so excited to see all of you again, and to have some kind of normalcy with the family who loves her. She didn’t ask for any of this, so please don’t act like a jerk and pull away,” I told him. I struck a cord with him. When he sat up straight, and cleared his throat, I almost thought our conversation w
