*Sage POV*

I didn’t want to be at this damned school. I tried to get my aunt to allow me to just return home, but she refused. She said that until I learned some self discipline, I was stuck at private school.

I don’t know what I had ever done for her to think I was a bad kid. I snuck out one time to go and see my dying grandmother at the hospital, and Kathrine sent me away.

When my parents died, I was sent to live with Kathrine. My mother’s only living sibling. In turn, she did everything in her power to keep me away from my family on my father’s side.

I had found out that my grandmother was ill through one of the pack’s kitchen workers, and nothing was going to keep me from going to see her. The rest is, well, history.

I stayed with my grandmother until she passed, and when I returned home, my bags were packed. I was given a tote bag and fifteen minutes to finish gathering whatever else I would need. Then I was shipped off to Hardwick.

I was at Hardwick for two and half years before it burned down. Something that I was being looked at for, and I had nothing to do with it at all. However, I know who did it, and I’ll never tell.

Now, I’m sitting in a musty library in a large, gorgeous, Victorian style building listening to one of the most gorgeous men I have ever seen.

He seems to be around 6’6” tall, has dark hair that is styled to perfection, olive skin and dark brown eyes. His name is headmaster Draven Douglas, and he smells like wood moss and amber.

I have hung on every single word he has said, and when he asked if there were any questions, I was the only one who raised my hand. I didn’t even know what I would ask when I did it.

“What about meal times? We have been on that bus for nearly 3 hours, and I, for one, am starving,” I asked.

His eyes locked on mine, and he answered my question in great detail. If anything, he was thorough.

We were led into a banquet hall, and on tables lined against a wall, there was more food than I had seen in a long time. Much more than was ever offered at Hardwick.

I prepared myself an everything bagel with jalapeno cream cheese, a bowl of watermelon, a banana and a large glass of orange juice. I found a spot away from everyone, and sat to eat my breakfast alone.

I had just taken a bite of my bagel when that deep voice that had me hypnotized during our introduction to the school spoke to me from behind.

“Did you find everything alright? Help yourself as much as you like. We will be taking a quick tour in about thirty minutes. I hope you are able to settle in pretty quickly,” he said, and then walked away.

I couldn’t even reply as I chewed my food. I didn’t notice him speaking to anyone else, and it made me wonder why he chose to speak to me out of everyone. The room was full of girls that were much more attractive than me.

Before we went on the tour, he asked us to go back into the library so that we could do introductions. He wanted to hear a little about our lives, as well as put names to faces.

For the next forty five minutes it was a lot of listening to self-centered and self-absorbed bitches who were all too happy to talk about themselves for what seemed like forever. It got so bad that headmaster Draven had to make them stop.

Then, it was my turn. I hated talking in front of people, and hated talking about myself and life even more.

“My name is Sage Thorne, I will be eighteen in about three weeks, and I come from a decent sized pack in South Dakota. I’m basically an orphan. My parents died at the hands of our corrupt Alpha when I was twelve, and I have been living with my aunt ever since. That was until I disobeyed her and went to see my dying grandma on my dad’s side. That’s when she sent me to Hardwick, and I was there for four years before being forced to come here. I have no friends, and I like it that way. I won’t be a jerk to you, as long as you aren’t a jerk to me. I love to read, and be by myself. That’s it,” I said, and sat back down.

“Miss, please stand back up. I have a few questions about things you said,” he said, and I cringed. What more could he want to know.

“Yes sir? I’m not sure what more I could tell you. That was pretty much it,” I replied.

His jaw locked, and it felt like his eyes were staring a hole straight through me. I didn’t know if I had something wrong, or what was going on, but I’m sure I’m about to find out.

“Your Alpha killed your parents? May I ask why?” he asked. He put me on the spot, and I wasn’t comfortable talking about it in front of everyone. I wasn’t sure how to get out of this, so I ran.

I ran as fast as I could, and when I came to double doors leading outside, I pushed through them and continued to run. I didn’t stop until I could no longer see the academy.

I collapsed to the ground, and tears started to stream down my face. No one had asked me how my parents died, or why, in years. I hated talking about it, because it brought back that painful memory.

I laid in the grass and stared at the clouds as they slowly passed by. In each one I tried to find the silver lining that this life was supposed to have.

With each passing cloud, there wasn’t one. Only darker clouds moving in. If that wasn’t a metaphor for my life, I don’t know what it is.

*Draven POV*I don’t know if it was the right thing to do in inviting her to go with me, but it felt like it was. If she accepted, I knew I had to get her aunt’s permission to take her from school grounds, and that was going to be a task in itself. After I asked, and even mentioned throwing her a birthday party, her face dropped. I couldn’t tell if she was unhappy about me asking, or if she thought something else.“Did I say something wrong?” I asked. She smiled softly and shook her head. She took a drink of her soda, and then told me how she was feeling.“No, no, you didn’t say anything wrong at all. It’s just, it’s just I know Katherine will say no. Anything to keep me from being happy, she will do it. I can’t wait until I’m from under her control,” she replied.I had a feeling it was either how it would appear to the other students, or the aunt. The aunt it is.“Let me take care of your aunt. I will just tell her that since you have signed up as my assistant to earn extra credits,

  • ShadowFen Academy   The Voice

*Sage POV*“Wake up little dove,” a voice called out to me. Who did this voice belong to? I was about to find out.“Who said that?” I asked. My eyes were closed, but I could hear things going on in whatever room I was in. However, it didn’t feel like the voice was coming from the room itself.“Don’t be afraid. I am a part of you that you have been expecting. I am your wolf, Storm. I am with you now, and will be with you always. You need to wake up, there are people worried about you. One person in particular. Stay close to him. He will protect you always,” she said.Him? Who could she be talking about? I haven’t really interacted with many of the boys since coming to ShadowFen, and the only two that I have been around a lot were Draven and Gavin. Could it be one of them?I began to open my eyes, and once they began to focus, I winced at the bright lights.Once I was able to focus,my eyes met the most gorgeous amber colored eyes. The ones I have looked forward to seeing every day since

  • ShadowFen Academy   Fired

*Draven POV*I have been summoned home for an emergency pack meeting with the elders. When I spoke to Elder Matthews, he said his concern about my father’s wellbeing had reached a higher rate of concern, and it was urgent that the elder panel spoke with me. So, this weekend, I’m going home to take care of this.“I won’t be in school on Friday, so you don’t have to come and help with anything. Just enjoy your free period in the library or somewhere on the grounds you like to hang out. I’ll let security know not to bother you,” I told Sage. She looked disappointed, and I wondered if she was starting to catch on to what we were to one another. Her birthday was in just a week's time, so her wolf should be starting to wake up inside her. “Oh, ok. Taking a little vaca are you?” she teased. I thought it was cute that she was trying to get information out of me without directly asking.“No, nothing like that. I wait for school breaks for that sort of thing. I told you this was my last year a

  • ShadowFen Academy   Petty Nonsense

*Sage POV*The next several classes went pretty smoothly. That was until some girls saw Headmaster Draven speaking to me in the hallway. He had only stopped me to give me a change of location to help him, and apparently they overheard our conversation. “Moving kind of fast there aren’t you, Thorne? Finally in a school with boys, and you just can’t wait to get in one of their pants? Kind of bold of you to go for the headmaster, he is kind of hot though. Can’t say I blame you,” Remi taunted as she nearly knocked me over by nudging me with her shoulder.Remi was one of the girls transferred with me from Hardwick, and she bullied me pretty fiercely there, and it seems that it’s going to carry over to ShadowFen or so she thinks.“Remi, get a life. I’m not trying to get into the headmaster’s pants. No matter how hot he is. I’m not like you. I am waiting for my mate, not just jumping in bed with anyone who’s interested. So, back off, or I’ll put you on your ass again,” I threatened. The l

  • ShadowFen Academy   Silver Wolf

*Sage POV*Last night I had the strangest dream. I don’t know if it was because I was in a strange place, or if I was just completely exhausted from the day's events. I was wandering the school grounds trying to get familiar with the place, and I came face to face with the most gorgeous silver wolf I had ever seen. No matter how close I came to him, he would back away. I could tell he wasn’t afraid of me, but it was like he was keeping his distance for a reason. I sat in the grass, and he sat with me. And I started to talk to him like he was someone I had known all my life. I poured my heart out to the silver wolf, and released emotions I had been holding in for so long. “I shouldn’t be burdening you with my sadness. A beautiful creature such as yourself should be with others who don’t have such anguish living inside them. Thank you for listening though, it’s been a long time since I felt I could release,” I half smiled. The silver wolf, who had kept his distance this whole time,

  • ShadowFen Academy   Baby Brother

Dahlia POV*When Draven called me, I was surprised that it wasn’t just to talk. He needed advice this time, and he sounded very conflicted about something.Draven and I are as thick as thieves, and have been since we were small. We are only thirteen months apart, so sometimes it feels as if we are more like twins. “Dahl, I’m in some shit. I need someone to tell me that everything will be alright,” he said as soon as I answered the phone. Instantly confused, I asked him to elaborate. However, I was not expecting him to tell me that his fated mate just showed up at the academy. “My fated mate is from Hardwick. She is three weeks away from turning eighteen, so she is clueless. I feel like I’m making an ass of myself around her, and behaving like a creeper. What do I do about it? I can’t stay away from her, and she already thinks I’m strange,” he explained. I giggled to myself, and shook my head. I asked him how his wolf was reacting, and he said that Daxton kept urging him to go to h
