*Draven POV*

Only six more months until I can move on as headmaster of ShadowFen Academy. Per tradition, I became headmaster the fall semester after my high school graduation, just like my own father did.

That was two years ago, and in six months, I will be taking over from my father as Alpha of Silver Springs Pack in Sandpoint, Idaho. I am more than ready, but the senior council has their doubts because I haven't yet found my mate.

I don’t have time to really think of a mate right now, because the preparations and training I have been doing take up all my time when I’m not working at the school. So, if it comes down to me having to choose a mate, for business purposes only, that’s what I’ll do.

“Headmaster, the bus has arrived. Do you want me to escort them into the library?” Gavin, my assistant, asked.

“Yes, Gavin. Please show them in, get them drinks, and I will be down shortly. Please have the welcoming team be prepared to take their belongings to their rooms,” I replied.

The bus in question was the transfers from Hardwick Finishing School. Their school was vandalized and burnt to the ground, so we agreed to take their third and fourth year students while Arbordale Academy took the younger grades. I just hope that they can keep up with our curriculum.

I moved from my desk to stand in front of the window and watch as they filed off the bus and into the building. I squeezed my eyes shut, and made a mental note to myself to remain positive that this was going to work.

Moving away from the window, I grabbed my jacket and put it on. After checking myself in the mirror, I made my way downstairs to welcome my new students.

I hadn’t made it completely down the stairs yet before the roar of laughter and chatter filled the air from the group of teenage girls. It was enough to send my head spinning.

“Are you ready for this, boss?” Candy asked as she approached me. Candy was the senior hall resident advisor. She was in charge of all fourth year girls, and in her mind, in charge of my bed after one mistake of a night.

“I’m ready. Candy, I would suggest you keep your hands to yourself. Touch me again, and I’ll fire you. You’ve been warned many times, and this is the last time.

She quickly removed her hands from my arm, and stood up straight as if she had never just been caressing my arm.

After chuckling to myself, I composed myself and walked into the school library. Surprisingly, none of them stopped their socializing, and I had to clear my throat to make it known that I was in the room.

I kept a stone face to let them know that I was a no nonsense kind of headmaster. I was a stickler to the rules, and I expected everyone from the students to the staff to abide by them.

“Have a seat, ladies. I would like to get started,” I stated, and suddenly, it felt like my heart was in my throat. My wolf, Daxton, began to pace wildly in my mind.

“Not now, Dax. You have to calm down. I have a job to do. We will speak after I’m finished,” I told him.

He began to whine, and all he said in response was “She’s here”. Who was she, and why was  that important? Unless? No. Not here, not now.

I started to look around the room, and no one stood out to me. Nor did anyone I could see make my heart beat wildly. He had to be wrong.

“Please, ladies, have a seat. We have a lot to discuss before you are shown to your rooms, and I would like to have you settled by lunch. This includes your campus tour,” I explained.

Once everyone was seated, I introduced myself.

“Thank you for moving so quickly. I am headmaster Draven Douglas. My father is Alpha Thiago Douglas of the Silver Springs pack. This is my second, and final year as headmaster, and for those who will be here next year, your headmaster will be my younger brother, Rowan. I am a strict, but fair headmaster, and if you follow the rules and do well in your studies, you will be given the recognition you deserve. We have a reward system in place for those who strive to do their best. We also have an excellent counseling team to help you with everything from your classes, tutoring, or even if you just need someone to confide in. Bullying and harming other students is strictly forbidden, and if you are caught doing so, you will be suspended. If it happens again, you will be expelled. That leads to another situation that will lead to expulsion on the first offense. At no time are you allowed in the boys' dorms. Not even to relay a message from staff. They are not allowed in the girls’ dorms either. So, save yourself the chance of losing your place in this school, and stay in your own areas. If you must intermingle with the boys, do it during common time. Lunch, free time in the common areas, school functions, etc…I shouldn’t have to explain that any further. Your classes will start promptly at 8:15am, and will end for the day at 2:45pm. Does anyone have any questions?” I asked.

I stood looking around the room, and that’s when I saw her. I knew it was her, because Daxton started to pace wildly again when my eyes landed on her.

She definitely wasn’t my normal type, but she was definitely gorgeous. Her flaming red hair was pulled up into a messy bun, and crystal blue eyes were mesmerizing. When she raised her hand, I couldn’t wait to call on her just to hear her voice.

“What about meal times? We have been on that bus for nearly 3 hours, and I, for one, am starving,” she asked. She had the sweetest voice I had ever heard, but something told me that she was going to be my problem child this year.

“Meal times will be assigned to you on your schedules. If you miss those times, there are vending machines in the common rooms, along with microwaves. You can also have your parents or guardian send you care packages. There are few exceptions to cafeteria access after your scheduled times, and today is one of those. We have provided you with donuts, fruits, bagels and cereal for breakfast. I ask that you eat quickly so we can continue on that tour,” I said and had Candy and Gavin show them to the area where it was provided.

I needed some fresh air, because her scent was driving me mad, and it was obvious she wasn’t yet eighteen. She had no clue what we were.

*Diego POV*When I was summoned to Sage and Draven’s place, I wasn’t expecting to see Henry on their floor, passed out and hands zip tied. “Sage, what is going on here? Why is Henry on your floor?” I asked. She and Draven explained how Henry had broken into their home, and attacked Sage. Now, they needed me to help figure out what to do with him.“I don’t want him punished. He’s scared. He is being kicked out of his home, and everyone who ever cared about him is gone. He just needs someone to care about him, Diego. He hasn’t been right since his parents died. He thinks that Roland and Regent actually gave a shit about him. He doesn’t understand that they were using him,” Sage explained.I had always liked Henry. He is an amazing warrior, and Sage was right. A very misled young man. Something in me wanted to give him a chance and help him. However, I was very worried about him continuing with the ways Roland taught him.“If he’s willing, I’ll let him stay with me at the pack house. He

  • ShadowFen Academy   Seeing A Pattern

*Draven POV*I had planned on being back to the house a lot sooner than this. I took Tristan, Dahlia, Katherine and two warriors to the hotel, then the airport. He got a notification that their plane would be delayed by two hours, so he talked me into going to breakfast. I knew if Sage woke up she would be worried about where I was. I had fallen asleep without letting her know I had agreed to go. “Send her a text. That way she won’t worry,” Dahlia said. I laughed and told her that I would if I had remembered to bring my phone. She pulled out her phone and sent Sage a text. At least she wouldn’t be as upset, but I still hated leaving her alone there. She struggled just driving through the place. She probably would until things began to change.“Do you think it’s a good idea to keep Katherine out there with the warriors? She is a sneaky old broad,” I asked. Tristan laughed and said that they had permission to kill her if she got out of hand. I knew he was joking, but also knew that t

  • ShadowFen Academy   Surprise Visitor

*Sage POV*After dinner last night, we all met back at the house to finish our discussion. It was good to spend time with my uncles, aunt and Diego just catching up. I found out a lot about what happened after my supposed death, including things about Katherine that I was unaware of. Uncle Axel told me the reason that Katherine was so anti children, and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “You know, when you were just a baby, maybe a year old, Katherine had a baby. His name was Dalton, and she was forced to give him up for adoption. Your grandparents basically had caught her neglecting him, and she enjoyed hurting him. It was sick. Your grandfather told her that she would put him up for adoption willingly, or he would make sure that she would never see him again. No matter what he had to do to make it happen. So, she gave him up. That boy was adopted by a loving family that doesn’t live too far from me. I have watched him grow up, and is a pretty smart kid,” he explained. I had

  • ShadowFen Academy   Big Changes

*Axel POV*After getting over the shock of seeing my niece, we sat down to a wonderful dinner. I hadn’t had this place in forever, and forgot just how amazing it really was. When the king started to explain the plan for Mystic Shadows, I wasn’t impressed. What he described was something he should have stepped in and done long ago. “Before we make any kind of decision, I need to ask you something. It may come off slightly rude, and I apologize ahead of time. However, why are you just now doing something about everything when it’s been ridiculously terrifying for so long now? There have been many of us calling out for aid and rescue from the Darlings since Sage was a little girl, but aid never came,” I said. What I said had struck a cord with him, but not in a negative way. His explanation was solid, and it was something I’m sure none of us in the pack knew. Roland had made it seem as if the kingdom didn’t give a shit about us.“Truthfully, Mr. Thorne, up until a few weeks ago, I didn

*Diego POV*Sage called and asked what restaurant we wanted to meet at. We had changed our minds a million times, so I decided to ask dad and Georgio. They decided on Sage Creek Grill, and on the drive over, my dad said something that concerned me.“I can’t wait to see her, but I don’t think I will get too close to her this time. It nearly killed me the last time,” he said softly. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Before, he was always so hellbent on never letting her go again if we had ever been able to see her. Now, he wasn’t sure. I had to find out the root of this thought process.“Please tell me you’re joking. If you pull away from her now, it will destroy all of us. She is so excited to see all of you again, and to have some kind of normalcy with the family who loves her. She didn’t ask for any of this, so please don’t act like a jerk and pull away,” I told him. I struck a cord with him. When he sat up straight, and cleared his throat, I almost thought our conversation w

  • ShadowFen Academy   Exact Location

*Sage POV*I knew the lady that Tristan was talking to very well. She lived not far from us, and I remembered when her husband was murdered. I was just a little over three years old. I don’t remember him so much as the sounds of her crying after it happened. As I got older, I would see her sitting on her porch holding a bright blue container. I thought they might be her husband’s ashes, but apparently I was wrong. She sat on her porch daily waiting on Roland to do the right thing as he “promised” and deliver the ashes to her to put inside that container. Now that I have heard her tell Tristan her story, I had to say something. I knew what happened to those bodies. I knew what Roland had done with them. I saw him and his men dispose of them myself one night when I was walking alone after dark. I approached the woman, and introduced myself. She smiled widely, and put her hands on my shoulders.“Oh sweet girl. You have grown up to be a beauty. Not that you weren’t pretty as a little gi
