*Sage POV*

I didn’t want to be at this damned school. I tried to get my aunt to allow me to just return home, but she refused. She said that until I learned some self discipline, I was stuck at private school.

I don’t know what I had ever done for her to think I was a bad kid. I snuck out one time to go and see my dying grandmother at the hospital, and Kathrine sent me away.

When my parents died, I was sent to live with Kathrine. My mother’s only living sibling. In turn, she did everything in her power to keep me away from my family on my father’s side.

I had found out that my grandmother was ill through one of the pack’s kitchen workers, and nothing was going to keep me from going to see her. The rest is, well, history.

I stayed with my grandmother until she passed, and when I returned home, my bags were packed. I was given a tote bag and fifteen minutes to finish gathering whatever else I would need. Then I was shipped off to Hardwick.

I was at Hardwick for nearly four years before it burned down. Something that I was being looked at for, and I had nothing to do with it at all. However, I know who did it, and I’ll never tell.

Now, I’m sitting in a musty library in a large, gorgeous, Victorian style building listening to one of the most gorgeous men I have ever seen.

He seems to be around 6’6” tall, has dark hair that is styled to perfection, olive skin and dark brown eyes. His name is headmaster Draven Douglas, and he smells like wood moss and amber.

I have hung on every single word he has said, and when he asked if there were any questions, I was the only one who raised my hand. I didn’t even know what I would ask when I did it.

“What about meal times? We have been on that bus for nearly 3 hours, and I, for one, am starving,” I asked.

His eyes locked on mine, and he answered my question in great detail. If anything, he was thorough.

We were led into a banquet hall, and on tables lined against a wall, there was more food than I had seen in a long time. Much more than was ever offered at Hardwick.

I prepared myself an everything bagel with jalapeno cream cheese, a bowl of watermelon, a banana and a large glass of orange juice. I found a spot away from everyone, and sat to eat my breakfast alone.

I had just taken a bite of my bagel when that deep voice that had me hypnotized during our introduction to the school spoke to me from behind.

“Did you find everything alright? Help yourself as much as you like. We will be taking a quick tour in about thirty minutes. I hope you are able to settle in pretty quickly,” he said, and then walked away.

I couldn’t even reply as I chewed my food. I didn’t notice him speaking to anyone else, and it made me wonder why he chose to speak to me out of everyone. The room was full of girls that were much more attractive than me.

Before we went on the tour, he asked us to go back into the library so that we could do introductions. He wanted to hear a little about our lives, as well as put names to faces.

For the next forty five minutes it was a lot of listening to self-centered and self-absorbed bitches who were all too happy to talk about themselves for what seemed like forever. It got so bad that headmaster Draven had to make them stop.

Then, it was my turn. I hated talking in front of people, and hated talking about myself and life even more.

“My name is Sage Thorne, I will be eighteen in about three weeks, and I come from a decent sized pack in South Dakota. I’m basically an orphan. My parents died at the hands of our corrupt Alpha when I was twelve, and I have been living with my aunt ever since. That was until I disobeyed her and went to see my dying grandma on my dad’s side. That’s when she sent me to Hardwick, and I was there for four years before being forced to come here. I have no friends, and I like it that way. I won’t be a jerk to you, as long as you aren’t a jerk to me. I love to read, and be by myself. That’s it,” I said, and sat back down.

“Miss, please stand back up. I have a few questions about things you said,” he said, and I cringed. What more could he want to know.

“Yes sir? I’m not sure what more I could tell you. That was pretty much it,” I replied.

His jaw locked, and it felt like his eyes were staring a hole straight through me. I didn’t know if I had something wrong, or what was going on, but I’m sure I’m about to find out.

“Your Alpha killed your parents? May I ask why?” he asked. He put me on the spot, and I wasn’t comfortable talking about it in front of everyone. I wasn’t sure how to get out of this, so I ran.

I ran as fast as I could, and when I came to double doors leading outside, I pushed through them and continued to run. I didn’t stop until I could no longer see the academy.

I collapsed to the ground, and tears started to stream down my face. No one had asked me how my parents died, or why, in years. I hated talking about it, because it brought back that painful memory.

I laid in the grass and stared at the clouds as they slowly passed by. In each one I tried to find the silver lining that this life was supposed to have.

With each passing cloud, there wasn’t one. Only darker clouds moving in. If that wasn’t a metaphor for my life, I don’t know what it is.

*Sage POV*Thank the Goddess for Dahlia. The second she walked into the penthouse, I squealed with joy. I missed her so much already, and as much as I was starting to love Naomi, it was good to have another face I loved so much around. “Did you miss me?” she laughed as I squeezed her tightly. I quickly nodded my head and told her I missed her more than she could ever realize. “YES! I know it’s only been like a week, but it feels like so much longer. I figured you would have been confined to the kingdom,” I replied. She pulled away from me, and then grabbed my arm. She dragged me into the kitchen out of earshot, and explained what was going on. “Mom and dad don’t know yet. I want to tell them myself when Tristan returns, but I'm pregnant. Just a couple of weeks along, but far enough to where he didn’t feel comfortable enough with me staying at home. I’m not complaining though. I’ve missed everyone so much. The kingdom is amazing, but it’s not home,” she whispered.I squealed again,

  • The Lost Luna of Mystic Shadows   We're Coming For You, Regent!

*Draven POV*Tristan arrived an hour ago, and he decided to not leave Dahlia behind. They found out she is pregnant, and he felt it would be best if she were with mom and dad while Regent was on the run. “Sis, please make sure Sage stays sane. I know she is pissed and chomping at the bit right now. If you don’t want to stay in the penthouse apartment, you are welcome to crash in Sage’s room for privacy. I guarantee she doesn’t hang out upstairs the whole time. She likes the quiet too much,” I said before she and our parents left. She promised that she would make sure Sage’s mind stayed busy, and said there was no way she was missing out on an opportunity to sleep in her favorite room as long as Rowan and Naomi didn’t take it. Rowan and Naomi had decided to take their friendship a step further. They weren’t officially mates yet, and would hold off on mating until it was official. However, the attraction between the two of them made it hard to just remain friends. “Honey, we will ma

  • The Lost Luna of Mystic Shadows   I Can't Believe This

*Sage POV*I had a feeling that Regent being locked up was too good to be true. Not to dig at Tristan and his kingdom pack, but his security and guards don’t seem to be very good. First Thiago killed himself, now this. I listened carefully as Draven told me what was going on, and all I kept hearing was that I was going to be trapped in this school for the unforeseeable future, and that his mom and dad were coming to stay with me.Don’t get me wrong, I love Izzy and Michael. However, I don’t know if I want my in-laws sleeping in my room. Especially when Draven comes here. If he comes here. “Sage, are you listening?” he asked. I must have zoned out, because I didn’t hear a word of what he had just said. “Um, I’m sorry. No, I didn’t hear you. I zoned off,” I admitted. “The book. Garrett was able to decipher some of the book. It’s not a good thing to have around, and he has suggested burying that book deep into the dirt on hollowed ground. He called it a book of shadows, and thinks it

  • The Lost Luna of Mystic Shadows   Escape

*Draven POV*The way I had to send her off wasn’t ideal, but it was for her safety. Gavin had gotten the call to let us know that Regent had escaped. He had help, and now he and those who helped him were out there somewhere, and we all knew that he was hellbent on killing his twin sister.“Do you think she is going to understand? I don’t ever question you, but I think sending her back to the academy was a bad idea. She would have been more safe here, or the kingdom,” Rowan said. Would she understand? Probably. However, she is going to be more pissed off that I took her choice away again without even telling her she had one.“I think the school is going to be the best place. No one can get in the staff wing without the key card. I also think we should put the school on high security lockdown. That means we will need to send a troop to the school to make sure it’s completely secure. Next, I want you to go back to the academy as well. You are her Gamma, it’s your job to make sure she is

  • The Lost Luna of Mystic Shadows   Soaked

*Sage POV*After dinner, I started to get impatient. Draven had promised that we could shift and run to the hot springs, but his mom and dad lingered longer than they regularly do. I understand why, but that hot springs was calling my name loud and clear. When they left, my wolf, Storm, started jumping for joy. “Are you ready?” Draven asked. I nodded quickly and started towards the door. As soon as we stepped onto the back porch, the cool air hit my face, and I got excited.Thankfully, the forest edge wasn’t far, and once we were inside, my clothes started to come off and were placed in my bag. As soon as I was naked, Storm took over and shifted, and shook out her fur. It didn’t hurt as much as the last time. The release actually felt good to me. Seeing the world through Storm’s eyes was amazing. Everything seemed clearer, and the smells were stronger. I waited until Draven was fully shifted, and when Storm saw Dax, she took off running. She playfully made him chase her, and a few

  • The Lost Luna of Mystic Shadows   Dad's Permission

*Draven POV*I felt much better after talking with Sage. I’m sure she did too. As an Alpha and Luna, it’s important that we work through our shit, and show each other the respect we deserve. Mom and Michael agreed to come to dinner, and were waiting for us when we arrived. Rowan and Naomi were with them, and I was pleased to see how good Naomi was recovering. Dinner hadn’t yet arrived,so I felt this was a good time to talk. I could see my mother’s worried face, and I had a feeling she thought this talk was going to be bad news. She is definitely in for a surprise.“Thank you everyone for coming. I promise you this isn’t a doom and gloom dinner. There is just an issue that Rowan and I would like to discuss with the two of you. I’m sorry we haven’t been very present since the night everything came out, there’s just been a lot going on. Rowan, have you introduced mom and Michael to Naomi?” I asked. He quickly nodded. “Mom did the introductions as soon as she walked in. By the way, she
