Hours passed, and when Elara went to look for her brother, he was nowhere to be found. At first, she thought he was off goofing around with Rook, but when she checked the training grounds, the kitchens, even his usual napping spot under the big oak tree, nothing.

That was when the panic started.

Word spread fast, and soon enough, search parties were deployed, searching even the forest for any sign of their future Alpha. Even their father, who was ussually calm under stress looked tense when

  • Shadowfang's Curse   Chapter nine

The morning sun filtered through the trees as Ronan, Rook, Celeste, and Mira 'another teenager from the visiting pack' walked down the path that led out of the pack's territory. The cool air carried the scent of wet grass from the earlier rainRonan, hands shoved into the pockets of his hoodie, yawned as they made their way toward the black car, waiting to take them to school. He wasn’t really looking forward to the day, but at least he had an excuse to not think about pack politics for a few hours.“I still don’t get why I have to go,” Celeste muttered bitterly as she walked slightly behind them. “I finished school last year.”“Pack orders,” Rook replied flatly. He opened the passenger door and slid in without another word. He wasn’t in the mood for Celeste’s complaints.Mira, who had been quiet for most of the walk, adjusted her backpack and gave Celeste a small shrug. “It’s just school. You’ll live.”Ronan chuckled. “I wouldn’t be so sure. She looks ready to jump out of a moving c

Celeste stopped in front of Ronan. “You seemed distracted,” she said, tilting her head slightly. “Long night?”Ronan blinked. “Huh?”Celeste smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “You didn’t say much in there.”“Yeah, well,” Ronan scratched the back of his head, “I don’t usually do much talking in elder meetings.”“Right,” she said lightly. “Future Alpha and all.”He wasn’t sure if that was sarcasm or not, but he didn’t care enough to figure it out. His head was still buzzing, and the meeting hall felt stuffy. The last thing he wanted was to get dragged into some drawnout conversation.Rook must have sensed it because he stepped in smoothly. “If you’re done oanalyzing him, we’re heading out.”Celeste raised a brow, looking amused. “Of course. Don’t let me keep you.” She gave a small nod before turning away, walking toward the other members of her pack.Ronan watched her go, then exhaled tiredly “She was testing you,” Rook muttered, already leading them toward the exit.“For what

The Silverclaw Pack arrived just after mid day , By the time they reached the middle of Shadow Fang’s territory, the sun was already high up. Ronan stood at the front of the gathered wolves, arms crossed as he watched them approach. He had barely paid attention to the frenzy of preparation leading up to this moment. Even now, as his father stepped forward to greet Alpha Garrick, leader of Silverclaw, Ronan’s mind was aleady drifting somewhere far away.Rook was at his side as usual. "You don't look thrilled," he muttered under his breath, shooting Ronan a side glance."I’m bursting with excitement," Ronan said flatlyRook snorted but didn’t press further. The two alphas exchanged formalities, words of friendship and all the whole diplomatic nonsense, but many people around weren't even listening, they were busy thinking about the possibility of finding mates. Younger wolves from both packs sized each other up nervously. Blake nudged Ronan from behind. "You feel anything yet? a str

Even their father, who was ussually calm under stress looked tense when he was guvung out orders. And then, just as suddenly as he had vanished, Ronan returned. It was nearly late evening when he stumbled back into the pack’s territory. His bag was filled with dried herbs, but his eyes were empty. H He didn’t speak as people crowded around him, demanding to know where he had been. He barely reacted when Elara flung herself at him in relief. Even Rook, who had spent the entire day tense and angry, stopped short when he caught sight of Ronan’s dazed expression.

Ronan woke up to the feeling of something cold pressed against his forehead. His eyes fluttered open, squinting at the dim light filtering into the room. His body felt... weird. "You're finally up," a voice came softly from nearby. He turned his head slowly, because even that took effort and found Rook sitting on a stool beside the bed with a blank face and his arms crossed. That wasn't unusual. Rook always had a permanent scowl on standby. why was he looking at him like that though Ronan groaned and ran a hand over his face. "Why do I feel like I got punched by the entire pack?" Rook didn't answer immediately. He just tilted his head slightly studying him for a bit "You don't remember?" Ronan frowned. "Remember what?" "Huh," Rook muttered under his breath. "Interesting." Ronan pushed himself up on his elbows, wincing at how sluggish his limbs felt. "Okay, seriously, what's with the look? Did something happen?" Rook exhaled slowly through his nose, debating whether

Rook leaned against a tree, arms crossed, watching the hooded figure fidget under his gaze. The moonlight barely cut through the thick branches, casting uneven shadows over the clearing. It was clear this conversation had been going on for a while."I don't care what happens to anyone else. No one is allowed to touch him," Rook said, his voice low but leaving no room for argument. The hooded figure swallowed hard. "That... that might be a little tricky."Rook raised an eyebrow, tilting his head slightly. "Does it look like I'm asking?"The figure let out a nervous chuckle, rubbing the back of their neck. "N-no, of course not. I just... you know, things happen. Accidents, I mean, I'm not saying it will, but.."Rook took a slow step forward, his jaw tightening. "He got hurt today," he said, voice low but thick with restrained fury. "Do you have any idea what that felt like? Watching it happen and not being able to stop it?" In one swift motion, he grabbed the front of the figure's cloak
