Serena's Pov

“What job might that be?” I asked, out of curiosity, seeing as he was taking his time to speak further.

“Hmm. "I see you're quite interested, even more than I thought,” he spoke, with a smirk.

That was sort of humiliating, but I tried my best to stay calm and act like he said nothing of such.

“Wasn’t it expected of me to ask?”

“Hmm. "You're right. "I just needed to find out if you might have a little interest in it, at least.” He responded, then leaned to the comfort of his executive chair.

“Well, you have your answer now.”

“Alright. So, like I said, I think you are fit for the task, which I see as the first step towards you getting back at your ex-husband. "But the question is, are you ready to do it regardless?” Adrien asked, tapping his fingers on the table.

I looked within myself for a minute and when I raised my head, I looked into his eyes, searching for the explanation he was yet to give.

“Sorry. "Did I make the atmosphere tense?” he asked, sarcastically.
