Serena's Pov

I sat on the couch, with totally no idea of what to do. Then my phone began to ring again. I didn't have any desire to check it, but since it kept ringing, I decided to know who it was.

To my discovery, it was Jackson.

But I wasn't in any mood to answer his call. Just going to his house and spending the night caused me issues. If I answer his call, and Adrien surprisingly comes out, this problem between us is never going to end.

I silenced my phone, but before I tossed it away, a text came up from him.

“I'm sorry about the issue going on, but I have already ordered that the news flying around should be pulled down. So, you won't see any of it online. If you need me to tell your husband, I'll be more than happy to help.”

I felt relief wash through my heart, but the part where he offered to help with Adrien wasn't going to work. I picked up my phone again, and texted him so he wouldn't bother calling repeatedly until Adrien gets so angry.

“Thanks a lot. I'll try to convinc

Killian’s hand slammed against the desk with such force that the sound echoed across his office, rattling the pen holder and toppling over a glass of water that splashed onto the polished wooden surface. His jaw clenched, and his chest heaved as the call disconnected, leaving only the flat tone in his ear. Slowly, he lowered the phone, his knuckles were as though he wanted to crush it in his fist.Mr. Lincoln had just severed their partnership. The reality of it stabbed through him like a blade. Mr. Lincoln wasn’t just another investor. He was the investor, his biggest partner, the one whose influence had carried Killian’s company into spheres of the fashion industry that money alone could not buy. With him gone, an entire pillar of his empire had crumbled in a single conversation.Killian dragged a hand down his face, his eyes narrowing into slits as he began pacing the length of the office. His office had always been a place of command, of dominance; sleek black furniture, leather-b

Serena’s POVThe next morning carried a new energy, one that was almost new to me after the storms of recent days. For the first time in a while, I woke up without the pressing weight of defeat on my shoulders. Instead, hope sparked inside me like a fire beginning to burn better.Adrien had stepped in for me.The thought alone was enough to soften my expression as I sat by the edge of my bed, staring at the rays of sunlight spilling through my curtains. He agreed to invest a large sum in my company, which he did last night. When I got to work, I gathered the team again to have a meeting with them.“As we all know now, an investment has been made in our new project, so I want us to give it our best.”I was happy with the fact that it was an amount so significant that my production team, who had looked at me with uncertain eyes only days ago, were now brimming with determination. We weren’t just trying to keep up anymore, we were preparing to create something even better, something that

Killian returned home late that evening, his steps carrying the kind of weariness that came after a long day of negotiations, press coverage, and endless boardroom battles. Yet, when he opened the door to his house, the warm, inviting aroma of roasted herbs and buttered bread greeted him.“Wow.” He said under his breath, pleased with the nice aroma. He didn't see the maid coming to greet him, which meant she wasn't in the house currently, which also meant that it was Samantha who prepared the meal, and that was surprising because she rarely prepared such elaborate dinners anymore, but tonight the atmosphere was filled with the richness of home-cooked warmth.Killian walked to the dining room, and saw Samantha standing near the table, dressed in a soft silk gown that glowed faintly beneath the golden lights. Her smile was wide and welcoming, her eyes shimmering with an excitement he hadn’t seen in a while. Across from her, Theo was already seated, swinging his small legs beneath the ch

Serena’s POVThe ride home felt longer than usual. My driver kept glancing at me through the rearview mirror, probably wondering why I was so quiet, but I couldn’t find the strength to put up a facade. The sales numbers, the crushing revelation about Killian’s new product, it all weighed me down like wet sand tied to my ankles. By the time we got home, and pulled into the driveway, I felt like my lungs couldn’t draw in enough air.“Goodnight, ma'am.” The driver said to me, but there was no strength to respond.Well, he should understand that I didn't look okay.I pushed the front door open and slipped inside, expecting the familiar silence of the house. But instead, it wasn't what I expected as I could already feel that someone was in the living room, and it wasn't the maid.I walked further, and noticed that Adrien was already home.He was sitting on the couch, one hand resting lazily across the back while the other scrolled on his phone. When his eyes lifted to meet mine, I noticed

Serena’s POVThe three days I gave my production team flew by in a blur of tension, sleepless nights, and restless pacing on my part. I barely saw my own reflection in the mirror, and when I did, I hardly recognized the woman staring back, eyes shadowed, shoulders stiff, and determination etched into every line of my face. This was a gamble. A reckless one, maybe, but I needed a win. I needed to prove to Killian, to the world, and most of all to myself that I wasn’t going down without a fight. The morning of the meeting, I arrived at the conference room earlier than anyone else. The long glass table gleamed under the fluorescent lights, the air buzzing with a nervous kind of anticipation. Soon, one by one, the members of my production team filed in, carrying boxes, garment bags, and a nervous energy that filled the room. Finally, Bridget announced, “Ma’am, everything is ready.”I nodded and gestured for them to begin. The head designer, a wiry man named Lucas, stepped forward and care

Serena’s POVThe papers were gone just like that; signed, and finalized.By the time Mr. Sky walked out of my office earlier today, clutching the contract like some prized trophy. My chest felt like it had been hollowed out. Legally, officially, I no longer had control over the company that had once been my leverage. For him to have acted that way, wanting to return that huge sum of money, Killian must have really done something to make him change his mind. Whether through threats or a bigger temptation, I have no idea.“Gosh.”I sat in my chair long after the door closed, staring blankly at the polished surface of the desk. Anger dwelled in my heart like a stone, heavy and unmovable. For a while, all I could hear was the echo of Mr. Sky’s triumphant voice in my head and the image of Killian’s shadowy smirk hiding somewhere behind it.But anger is my fuel in this fight. If they think this was my defeat, they were wrong.By late afternoon, I straightened my back and picked up the landl
