登入Sage's POV
I woke up slowly, my body deliciously sore and aching in the best ways. The morning light filtered through the forest canopy, and for a moment, everything felt perfect. The new mating marks on the right side of my neck tingled warmly, a constant reminder of last night. I could still feel their touches, hear their promises. Forever. Ours. We love you. My heart swelled with foolish, teenage hope. They had claimed me. Three princes had chosen the disgraced omega as their mate.
I reached out, expecting to find warm bodies beside me on the mossy ground. But the spot was cold. Empty.
“Kael? Vex? Cass?” I called softly, sitting up. My voice echoed in the quiet clearing. No answer. I looked around, panic starting to creep in. Their clothes were gone. The only thing left was one oversized shirt—probably Kael’s—folded neatly beside me. I pulled it on with shaking hands. It smelled like him, like all of them mixed together. Maybe they had gone to prepare things. To tell their families. Or get me proper clothes. They wouldn’t just leave after everything they said. Right?
I stood on wobbly legs, the bond in my chest pulsing faintly. It felt… distant. But I told myself it was nothing.
The walk back to the academy took longer than expected. My body still hummed from the night before, but doubt started gnawing at me with every step.
By the time I reached the dorms, something felt horribly wrong. Students were clustered in groups, whispering and staring at their phones. Heads turned toward me. Eyes widened. Then came the first whisper.
“Slut.”
I froze, pulling my hair over the marks on my neck.
“Did you see the pictures? She’s completely naked.”
“Who would even touch her? Traitor’s daughter.”
My blood ran cold. Pictures? I hurried toward the dormitory, and asked someone what is going on. she shoved her phone in my face. There they were—images of me from last night in the forest. Naked. Exposed. My breasts, my thighs. My face was clear in some of them. Humiliation crashed over me like ice water.
But the worst part was the marks. Three distinct mating bites on the right side of my neck, visible in the photos. Everyone could see them now.
“Three different wolves marked her,” someone laughed loudly. “What kind of whore spreads her legs for three guys at once?”
I ran. Tears blurred my vision as I locked myself in a bathroom stall. The bond pulsed weakly in my chest, but I couldn’t feel them clearly. They’ll fix this, I told myself, wiping my eyes. They promised. I needed to find them. Explain. Hear them say it was all going to be okay.
After i had change of clothes. I went looking for Kael. He was usually near the training fields in the morning. My heart raced when I spotted him by the fountain in the courtyard, talking to someone. As I got closer, my steps faltered.
Mara Thorne was pressed against him, her arms around his neck. She kissed him deeply—passionate, possessive, right there in front of everyone. Kael’s hand rested on her waist, pulling her closer. It wasn’t a quick peck. It was real. The kind of kiss that made a statement.
The bond screamed in my chest, sharp pain lancing through me. I stopped dead, unable to breathe.
When they finally broke apart, Mara’s eyes locked onto mine across the courtyard. Her smile was pure venom and triumph. “Oh, look, Kael. It’s the little Blackwood slut. Did you see those pictures everyone’s sharing? Pathetic, isn’t she?”
Kael glanced at me. His golden eyes were cold, almost bored. No warmth. No recognition of what we’d shared last night. “Sage,” he said flatly, loud enough for nearby students to hear. “I’m betrothed to Mara. so whatever crush you have on me, should die right now. I will never have something to do with a traitors daughter.”
His words hit like physical blows. “But… you said forever,” I whispered, my voice breaking.
"Go back to scrubbing floors where you belong.”
Tears streamed down my face as he turned back to Mara, kissing her again. Students laughed and whispered. The public humiliation burned deeper than the pictures.
I stumbled away, heart shattered, and went searching for Vex next. He was in the library, as expected, surrounded by books. I approached him in a quiet corner, my hands trembling.
“Vex… please. About last night—”
He looked up, his expression icy and calculating.. “Last night was nothing but biology, Sage. The triple bond is rare, but it doesn’t change reality. You’re still a disgraced omega. Worthless. Those pictures? They suit you. Show everyone exactly what you are.”
“I don’t understand,” I cried, stepping closer. “You said you loved me. You promised we’d face everything together. The marks—”
Vex stood, towering over me. His voice was low and cruel. “The marks were a heat-of-the-moment error. I’m rejecting the bond. And to prove how little you matter, here’s a task. There’s a rogue wolf loose in the eastern forest. Bring it back using this.” He shoved a small remote for a shock collar into my hands. “Succeed, and maybe I’ll consider not making your life worse. Fail… well, that’s on you.”
His friends nearby snickered. “Look at the slut begging,” one said.
Vex didn’t even look sorry. “Don’t come back to me unless it’s done. Now leave. You smell like desperation.”
I left the library in tears, the bond twisting painfully. One more. Cass had always been the kindest. He would understand.
I found him near the dormitories, alone for once. “Cass!” I ran to him, reaching out. “Please talk to me. They’re saying awful things. The pictures—”
Cass’s face hardened. He grabbed my wrist, not gently. “You really thought last night meant something? I was caught up in the heat, Sage. All three of us were. But look at you now. Pictures of you naked everywhere. Three marks like some pack whore. I can’t be seen with that. None of us can.”
“But you said you loved me,” I sobbed, my voice small and gullible even now. “You promised forever. You held me after—”
He laughed bitterly, pushing me back. “Wake up. We rejected you. Go away. I don’t want anything to do with you anymore. Those marks? They’re your problem now.”
The final rejection broke something inside me.
I was called to the main office, the head administrator was waiting with cold eyes.
“Your scholarship has been revoked, Miss Blackwood. Effective immediately. The academy doesn’t tolerate students who bring this kind of scandal. Pack your things.”
By lunch, the entire school was buzzing. Mara cornered me again in the cafeteria with her group. “Did you really think Kael would choose you over me?” she sneered, shoving me hard against the wall. “You’re nothing but a used-up slut with traitor blood. Three marks? Disgusting. No one will ever want you now.”
She slapped me across the face, then again. “Stay away from them. Or I’ll make sure those pictures reach every pack way beyond this territory.”
I didn’t fight back. I just took it, tears flowing freely. No one knew it was the princes. They just saw a worthless omega who had been marked and discarded.
That evening, alone in my now-empty dorm room, I stared at the three marks on my neck in the mirror. The bond felt like broken glass in my chest. After all the promises, all the love I had poured into them.
I touched the marks, feeling them burn with rejection instead of warmth. My gullible heart had believed every word last night. Now, everything was gone—my scholarship, my reputation, my mates.
How was I supposed to survive this?
Sage's pov I was speechless. My daughter had just laid her heart bare in front of me, and I had no words to respond. She wanted them. She wanted to make this her home."I do not know what to say," I finally managed. "I cannot just leave my life behind. Everything I have built, everything I have worked for, it is all out there. And I cannot leave you here, Milo. I will not leave you. But I do not know what to do. I do not know how to make this work."I looked at her small face, at the hope shining in her eyes, at the trust she had placed in me. "Your safety is more important than anything else. More important than my comfort, more important than my fear, more important than anything. I will do whatever it takes to keep you safe."Milo nodded. "Alright. I know you will make the right decision for me."But as I looked at her, I felt like I would not be able to. The weight of her expectations pressed down on me, and I did not know which path was the right one.****The next day, I found
Sage's pov"Nothing is impossible. Do not let my father's words make you believe that."I shook my head. "I do not want to talk about this right now. Please. Just leave."The look he gave me was heartbreaking. His eyes were full of something I did not want to name, something that made my chest ache and my throat tighten. He opened his mouth as if to argue, then closed it again. He nodded slowly."At least when you decide to leave," he requested, "Tell us. Give us a chance to say goodbye. Do not disappear in the middle of the night like a thief. I do not want to wake up one day and find out you are already gone."The image was so ridiculous, that I could not help but laugh a little. Kael's lips twitched in response. We both chuckled, the tension between us easing just slightly.I gave him a tired smile. "I will not run away. I promise."I opened the door for him, and he paused in the doorway. Our eyes locked for a long moment. The air between us was thick with everything we had not said
sage's pov "Nothing is going on between Kael and me. You have nothing to worry about."The old Alpha King studied me for a moment, his cold eyes unblinking. "I do not care about that. Whether something is going on or not, I want you to reduce your contact with him. Stop spending time with him. Stop letting people see you together. It does not matter if it is innocent or not. Perception is everything, and the perception right now is that you are a distraction."I nodded. "Sure. No problem. Is that everything?"The old Alpha King waved his hand dismissively. "For now. You may go."I stood up and walked toward the door. My hand was on the handle when his voice stopped me."One more thing," he said. "You should think about settling down already. Your age, and the fact that you already have a child, reduces your worth on the market. You are not getting any younger, and your options are limited. My son deserves better than someone who comes with baggage. Keep that in mind."I did not reply
Sage's povI felt my body getting hotter just looking at him. It was crazy. He had always been this handsome, with his sharp jaw and his dark eyes and the way his hair fell across his forehead. I had noticed it before, when I was too young and too foolish to know better. But now it was getting more intense, more overwhelming. Because the reason I had hated him in the first place was fading away. The anger that had fueled me for seven years was crumbling, piece by piece, and without it, all that was left was him.My body felt hotter. My skin prickled. My breath came shorter. I swallowed hard and forced myself to look away, to focus on something other than the curve of his lips, the line of his jaw, the way his hands rested on the steering wheel."Let's leave this gloomy place already," I said roughly.Vex put the car in gear and drove. The detention center faded behind us. But we were not heading toward the pack house. The streets were unfamiliar, the buildings smaller, the lights dimme
Sage's povI was too stunned to speak. I could only watch Vex as he walked beside me, his hand still holding mine, his face set in stone. His parents' voices echoed behind us, but he did not look back. He just kept walking, his grip firm and steady, as if he had been waiting years to do this and was not going to let anything stop him now.I could not believe this could ever happen. Vex defending me. Was choosing me over them.So Vex truly never tried to kill me. The shock collar had been sabotaged by his brother. The rogue had been sent to kill me by someone else. Vex had been cruel, yes. He had been arrogant and dismissive and emotionally cold. But he had not wanted me dead.We got outside. Vex released my hand and walked to the driver's side of the car. I climbed into the passenger seat. He got in, slammed his door, and then slammed his forehead against the steering wheel. The thud was loud in the quiet of the car."What are you doing?" Vex did not lift his head. "Why did you let
Vex's povMy father waved his hand dismissively, his face still red with anger. "This is nonsense. This does not connect anything. You have a video of Carson in a workshop. You have a video of yourself picking up a collar. You have a video of a rogue being released. None of this proves that Carson tampered with the specific collar that was used on that specific rogue."My mother nodded, stepping closer to the cell. "That is right. How do you even know it is the same rogue? And even if it is, this is something that happened seven years ago. Why are you dealing with it now? Why dredge up the past?"I looked at my mother, then at my father. Their faces were hard, unyielding. "It is never too late to get justice for Sage," I said.Carson laughed from inside his cell. "Justice? She deserves what happened to her anyway. She is a Blackwood. Her father was a traitor. Her mother died of shame. The whole family is cursed. She should be grateful she is still breathing."My father turned to Sage
Sage's POV"Shut up," Clara snapped, her grip on the knife tightening against my throat. "What can a child do? She is seven years old. She is nothing."Her question was answered immediately. Clara's body went stiff behind me. Her arm locked in place, the knife pressing harder for a moment before st
Sage's POVI launched myself toward my daughter, shadows screaming around me, my hand reaching for her. But the infected holding Milo tightened its grip on her neck, and I froze."If you make a single step closer," Clara's weak voice came from behind me, "she dies. Right here. Right now."I stopped
Sage's POVThe shockwave rippled through the car, shaking the frame, rattling the windows. The vehicle shuddered but held. Good thing it was built strong, military grade, designed to withstand more than just a bumpy road. Debris rained down on the roof, clattering like hailstones, and I ducked my h
Sage's POVI was embarrassed by her statement. My face flushed even deeper, and I could not figure out what to say to that. Of course I could not tell my daughter that I had just had a very blissful experience, one that I did not even want to admit to myself. The words would not form on my tongue.
