Scarlett’s POV

Seeing the “poor love birds” trying their best to protect each other against me, the evil dragon, makes me want to laugh at my old self for being ridiculously stupid.

She stole my identity to friend MY hero, acting her whole life as someone else to stay his friend, using him to harm me in every way she could, all the way to the point she wanted me dead. He let her.

And I’m the bad guy in this story?

“Which part exactly, did he mean well?” I’m so mad I have to squeeze words out of my clenched teeth. I glare at the vicious snake under the lamb’s clothes, having a hard time comprehending how one can be spoiled into so evil a soul, “Let’s say that I made a deal with him to get him into our marriage, did you not gain from that deal? He got to protect you, the apple of his eye, and you get to fucking live! And has never honored his end of the deal, not even for a day! Did he mean well with that? When you two went shopping all over the world, hand in hand, showing off how much

That’s a first.“You don’t have the right to apologize on my behalf,” I hide myself well behind Adrian, challenging Jack Fuller, “Your daughter deserved that slap and more, for luring me to be kidnapped. You two need to apologize to ME, or I WILL sue.”“Did you see? See what you are protecting?!” Jack Fuller points a shaking finger at me.Sebastian sighs at me, nailing his eyes on Adrian’s arm which I hug as if that could stop me from clinging onto it.For Sebastian to take my side against people who treat me wrongly was something beyond my wildest dream before. I try to find the sweetness or pleasure I should feel in it, but I fail. I have given too much for it, and I have wanted it for too long. It doesn’t taste as sweet now when I stopped wanting it.“Sebastian?! How could you t

Scarlett’s POVThat I did not know.Of all people, I thought Ava was the one who wanted me by her side the most. She fears death, and I’m her safety rope. I thought at most, she offered my name to Liam Ryan in exchange for her own life.I don’t like the dark tone Liam Ryan used.“Get him in the car!” In a police uniform, a bulky guy with a round face frowns at the officer who has Liam Ryan under his hand. They were transporting him, and Liam Ryan was fighting to stay for what he had to say.“Jeremy, let him talk,” Adrian calls the bulky guy, his voice colder than ever, “We might use it in court.”“His words right now are not admissible,” Sebastian glares at Adrian, adding to Liam Ryan, “Do you have evidence to support your claim?”But Liam Ryan ignores them both.To all our surprises, his eagle eyes nail on Jack Fuller: “You are the father of both the girls? I don’t believe that. No father would treat their little girl as how you treated the redhead.”Everyone darts their eyes at me.

You can turn around so quickly means your paradise is not exactly as happy as you said it would be, no?“What did you expect, when you chose a serpent over an angel?”Justin cries so hard, melting to the ground over and over again.Liam Ryan never said another word to him after that ask. He pulled up his window, not even looking at Justin. But Justin wouldn’t leave, hanging onto the police car where Liam Ryan sits as if that would go back in time.I don’t know how much Justin loved “his angel”, so I can’t even begin to imagine how horrifying it is to find out about such a mix-up only after her death.Would Sebastian shed a tear for me, if he ever finds out? It’s better for all of us if he never does.In the end, Sebastian went with Ava in her ambulance. Scarlett’s POVI don’t know how long I slept, but I felt much better when the bright twilight woke me up.The ward is empty. No doctor, no nurse...No Adrian.I guess the baby did his job alright.Warning myself that it’s stupid to weep over something I never had, I slip down the hard, tiny bed and walk toward the window. The breeze at the end of the fall is no longer warm. It’s chill.I wanted the baby thing to get me out of the awkward talk, so why am I feeling so low?Anyone in the right mind getting to know that the girl they met a week ago is pregnant, won’t stay around in the hope of any romantic whatsoever. He did the right thing. Actually, I wanted him to make this choice.I don’t know how to love again.Maybe one day I can heal, but I’m broken right now, I know.I’m no longer the brave girl who could put love as the center of her world, who could laugh at his happiness and cry at this sorrow. I gave all that to Sebastian, and it’s not fair to Adrian if I were to try things wit

Scarlett’s POVWhat did I ever do to deserve this? I know it’s wrong to accept it, but it doesn’t make any of the joy of this moment untrue.“As much as I believe you,” I try to choose my words more wisely than last time, “We only met a week ago, Mr. Dunn, I don’t think--”“I understand your concern, and that’s why I wanted to take it slowly,” Adrian cuts me off with a kiss on the tips of my fingers, “but I don’t want to do that anymore. You let me in on the pregnancy to warn me off, no? You don’t have to. I will love your child as my own, and I will take better care of you than anyone ever will.”No woman can resist such a confession from the hero who just pulled them up from a fall to their death.I’m merely a human!I trust his words. I’m just surprised because I never painted him as the “love-for-life” type. According to Aurora, he is nothing but a playboy, a womanizer that she wants to tear apart at sight.Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Adrian starts slowly: “I have been i

Scarlett’s POV“Even though I carry another’s baby in my womb?” I ask.“They will know me and only me as their father,” He answers.“Even if I’m a workaholic who is sloppy at home and everything else?” I ask, remembering the messy living room I shared with Aurora.Adrian lets out a light chuckle. It was light just to not ruin the moment, I think.“I would appreciate the chance to take care of you, yes,” Somehow he keeps his tone solemn still, “I admire you, my shooting star.”Okay, fine! I have no more tests and he passed all of them with a perfect score.“Okay, last question,” I nod, “...Even if I’m best friends with Aurora?”My question takes Adrian by surprise. He blinks in confusion, not seeing a clear question in there.“I’m not sure what you mean...?” Adrain frowns lightly at the confusion, “I...I’m not against whoever you choose to keep in your life...Sebastian aside!”This time it’s my turn to burst into laughter.“But you two always fight at the sight of each other!” I pull h

Scarlett’s POVTurns out, Adrian never noticed me until that racing night, and it was because of that night that he went back to dig into me, only to find that I was the little wolf that he liked from years ago. But before he could do anything more, I married Sebastian and he decided to seal his first love that never bloomed.“Seriously, awful detective work,” I laugh at him, eating snacks he brought me to the hospital bed.Adrian rolls his eyes with a sigh, his ears turning pink again: “You promised to take that to your grave for the sake of all the snacks you ordered me to get!”“No! The snacks are for me keeping your proposal as a secret from Aurora!” I throw myself over the snacks when he starts pulling them away, “I have got pictures of the flowers! Scarlett’s POVAva likes collecting men, I knew that. But to show her intention so obviously for her target to tell was not her style. She likes to play ambiguous. After all, she was “Sebastian’s girl”, that’s a title she would never let go of.“May 21st...” I mumble, that was the day when Ava was thrown out by Granny, “Was that before or after Granny threw her out? Do you remember?”“Ohhh... I went to her when the news of your wedding came out, so definitely after,” Adrian nods, rolling his eyes, “I guess that explains it. I was shocked how she would flirt with me when her whole heart was ‘Sebastian’s property’, so I went digging.”Adrian shoots me a guilty glance: “And I found out that the girl that Sebastian claimed to love was not Ava, but you.”“What?!” I open my eyes wide in shock, “How did you even find out?!”It wasn’t like there was any hard evidence to find.“It wasn’t really a finding,” Adrian waves his hand indifferently, “Remember that time when Olivia hid your history bo

“Scar mama, are you okay?”Alice’s lovely voice pulls Scar’s gaze back from outside the window.“Yes, of course,” Scar picks Alice up into her arms, putting a smile on, “When did you come, hmm?”Lilith has been coming over every day recently, claiming it’s just because she misses Scar. Scar indulges her story, but she knows there is more -- Lilith is a simple person, and she can’t hide a secret. If she doesn’t force out a smile every time when Scar looks at her, while failing to hide the concern in her eyes, there might be a slight chance that her lame excuse might actually slide.“Just now,” Alice drags Scar over to the piano, “Papa Vandy is giving me a piano class later.”Scar cocks her eyebrow at Lilith, who forces yet another awkward, nervous smile just in time.A lame excuse is a lame excuse, whether it's missing her or a piano class. Lilith is worried about her. Well, she has been worried about her ever since she found Scar in that institution, so that’s no news. What intrigues

Scar bursts out in tears, hitting him and clawing him and kicking him everywhere she could, “I will never forgive you! Ever! I was blind to have fallen for you, but now I know better! If you want a piece of advice, here is one: never love someone who doesn’t love you. And I, don’t, love, you! Never again!”The man stands there, letting every word slam on his heart like little hammers. But no matter how much they hurt, he just can’t seem to let go. How could he when he knows what real love tastes like now? She says it as if loving him was a mistake. It wasn’t. It was the best thing that could ever have happened to him.The mistake was that he didn’t cherish it, because he didn’t realize what he had.“You said you would give me a chance if our daughter didn’t die,” The man says.“I didn’t say that!” Scar snaps.Lilith listens carefully--“You didn’t say no either,” The man says calmly. In the end, Lilith told Sebastian everything she knew, didn’t get anything out of that man, AND got pushed into the small bedroom -- to avoid Scar. She didn’t notice the door on the wall behind his desk when she first went into his office. The door is small, the room smaller -- just enough for a single bed, a table and a floor mirror. Nothing more. The owner of the room didn’t put any thoughts into comfort when he was deciding the ufnction of the room. The bed is not made. Someone just used it very recently. The table is, magically, messier. On its top piled papers, folders, and notes. Whoever left them there, left them in an order that he might recognize, but no others could.Lilith dares not touch anything. Turning around twice, she ends up standing in the small space between the bed and the door, awkwardly.“Where is your honorable guest?” Scar starts firing the moment she is allowed in. Lilith gets so nervous, her breathe slows down to the lowest, too. Scar might be on fire, think

Sebastian’s words freezes Lilith. His accurate intuiation shocks, but not as much as his aggressive eyes. Looking into his eyes, Lilith knows she can’t win this fight without needing him to say those words. She has seen how tamed this man can be in front of Scar, and that gave her the illusion that he is not dangerous. Not as how any man in his position holding his kind of power should be.How wrong was she. When it comes to anyone but Scar, he is still the predator who is to be reckoned with. She frowns and tries to run, but the man wouldn’t let her open the door: “If you know that Silco might harm Scar and you hide it from me, then it’s on your hand when Scar gets hurt.”“It’s on me when I refuse to deliver Scar into YOURS hands, which are holding Ava Fuller’s filthy bloody ones?!” Lilith fights back fiercely, “Don’t make me laugh! I come here because YOU begged to make amendment, no the other way around!”The man doesn’t show it, but Lilith could see that her words sting. If there

Does she really treat Sebastian differently?Scar doesn’t like touching this question. It stings. He is like a wound on her heart that just won’t heal. Every scar he left on her remains hurting, bleeding, and corrupting nonstop, yet she just can’t seem to gouge it out.If only she could. Why is it so hard to just cut all ties with this man? However she warns herself of the danger this man poses, she keeps finding him back in her life, closer and closer.Unlike Ava who has never even apologized for what happened but basically took all the harm she did on Scar as okay, Sebastian apologizes. He puts up the genuine guilt act all the time. Doing the right thing, that’s his brand. He takes all his chances to apologize, but he still doesn’t understand--His fault is not giving Ava a key to his house. It wasn’t even falling for that simple lie when the

Scar couldn’t answer Silco’s question. What kind of a question was that?! She doesn’t treat them differently! They are all her enemies, and they all played a part in that horrifying night five years ago! When Ava bullied her, Sebastian took Ava’s side; when Ava needed her blood, Sebastian was the one plugging the tube into Scar’s wrist; when Ava tried to murder her child, HIS child, he gave Ava the key to their house! So of course she treats them differently! If Ava was a murderer, then Sebastian was just a stupid tool Ava used; if Ava wanted her dead, Sebastian only failed to protect her.So why that question?!Why SHOULD she treat them as equally evil? She doesn’t only because she is a fair person!Having a bloody battle in her mind, Scar couldn’t help but feel angry when she couldn’t pin down where the anger comes from.It was a simple question, one that she does have an answer for.So why couldn’t she?Why did she feel guilty when Silco asked that, and why did she run from that qu

Silco finally nods with a proud smile, seeing Scar had led her to where he was leading her to go: “I think that would raise our chances by a lot, princess.”Scar’s eyes beam, not at the coming win, but at the proud look from Silco. She doesn’t even realize it.Never in the first twenty years of life has she tasted what being proud of feels like, and that’s not because of a lack of trying. For a very long time, she believed so long as she worked hard, she would get the praise from Jack and Anna just like Ava. She never did.It feels amazing. While Scar is enjoying her newfound secret, forbidden satisfaction, Lilith is amazed at the closeness shared between Scar and Silco that her best friend doesn’t seem to even notice herself. Does Scar still remember that she doesn’t even know the identity of this man? Scar looks up at him like a little lamb at her shepherd. What’s with this sudden, almost-father-daughter vibe?!“So we just wait?” Scar asks Silco, “What if they don’t make a move?”“Y

“Silco!” Still in the euphoric state, Scar springs off the sofa, demanding the man like a little girl, “You knew him?! Elijah Green? Did you know what a weirdo he was?! Who tells people that they look like their dead friend on the first time they meet?! Why on earth did you make me go to that horrible party?! You owe me an explanation!”Silco lets out a smirk, “Dead...friend? Interesting...” He laughs at her pout, rubbing her hair as he leads her back to the sofa: “The party was horrible? Then why did I hear that the Fuller’s mother-daughter pair put on quite a show to entertain?”Well, it WAS quite enjoyable when they panicked as their lies spilled all over the floor before Scar picked it up for them.Scar sticks her tongue out.“Sure, she begged me for mercy,” Scar shrugs, throwing herself back into the sofa with a loud sigh, “but they only wanted to keep up their lies in front of the Green Lady. She swears to God! She would—“I think they are lying to mom,” Elijah Green answers tamely, as if he doesn’t even hear the sarcasm in Scar’s tone. In Scar’s surprised look, the man laughs like a marshmallow, with a childish, mischievous shade in there, “Anyone who looks so much alike my dear -- hmm -- friend, couldn’t be a bully.”Every time he says that, he adds a pause in there as if it originally wasn’t a “friend”, but something else there. Weird. Scar thinks.“...but I bet you are fierce, no? I bet you are kind to people, but take the stand if needed,” Elijah Green is still going
