~Arya~

I looked up at Lucien. His lips curved up in a wry smile that told me all I needed to know. “Did you do this?” I mouthed. He stayed mute.

“I gave everything i have to your family last night, arya. I’m broke. Why on earth is a counterfeit painting being sold to me for two fifty million."

“Well, it was never supposed to cost that much. If you had stopped bidding when you should–”

“Shut the hell up,” he snapped furiously. “You really think I care about that? I didn’t pull out of the bid, and so what? Is that the reason a fake was sent to me?”

“I’m unsure there’s a mistake somewhere. There’s no way a fake was sold to you.”

“I called an appraiser.” His voice was way too loud for me to endure. I could tell that he was running crazy. Who wouldn’t? He gave his entire fortune away last night as a result of his impulsiveness. He drew ioooin a deep breath, groaning. “Don’t get on my nerves today, Arya. It's either the professional who had that painting checked is lying, or you are."

~Arya~“Make sure our guests are comfortable, Pamela. They spent the whole morning packing moving things. I need them to be in good health for the duration of their stay here.”It was Moving Day, the day Edgar officially lost the house to me. He had no idea that the person who snagged the mansion and other things he claimed ownership for was me. I made sure of that, even going as far as using a false name to receive everything from the bank. His shares, assets, expensive vehicles, they all belonged to me now.He stood in front of the moving truck, hands on waist, bent backwards awkwardly. He had tanned so much in the space of a few hours. What could be more touching than a man who went broke in just one night, to the extent that he couldn’t even afford to pay for services to help with his relocation.Pamela stood beside me, chugging down gulps of an energy drink. She threw the bottle into a bin nearby and inched closer. “You’re referring to them as guests. Isn’t that a little harsh

~Arya~On hearing my father's voice, Edgar sprang away from me. My father walked in and lowered himself into a chair beside the large table, leaning forwards with his fingers interlocked as he regarded Edgar with an unimpressed frown. “What do you think you’re doing, young man? Are you trying to hurt my daughter in the company she’s meant to inherit?”Edgasr scramble to his feet. He gave my father a quick bow, panic flickering across his features.“I didn’t mean to hurt her. We were having a conversation and she suddenly tried to leave. I only wanted to stop her.”My father’s brows knitted together. “Have you gone on social media today at all?” he questioned. Edgar shook his head. “Arya is trending for the wrong reasons. Why haven’t you done anything to stop her assault videos from spreading?””“Assault videos? What are you talking about?”“You don’t even have an idea? Your wife was ambushed in your company premises. I let her remain married to you because I thought you’d protect her,

~Arya~“What are you implying? That I'm trying to accuse the Manchesters falsely?" Edgar questioned. “They organized that auction. If there are any questions, it should be directed at them without issues.”“There shouldn't be any questions.” I gestured to the screen. “Apparently, someone snuck into the company and replaced the paintings."His eyes widened. He stared at the video playing, utter shock etched down his face. The conference room fell silent, the only noise in it the heaves of resignation from Edgar's lawyers. “This is a lie,” he finally drawled after minutes of replaying the video. I refuse to believe this.”I rolled my eyes, totally exhausted. It had been a long day. I could really do without hearing him whine one more time. “How convenient is it that the painting got stolen as soon as it landed in Obsidian Holdings?”“The level of security there is not as high as the Manchesters’. That’s one thing I have to take care of.”“Don’t go bossy on me right now, Arya. Let’s s

~Arya~I blew out a deep breath, my eyes darting between mother and son. I had done enough damage to them already. Ruining their relationship shouldn’t add to that. If my presence here was bound to cause a rift between them, then I had to leave. “What?” Regina retorted. “I can’t even talk about what happened. Wasn’t she your best friend? She should understand. She made you turn out that way, what’s the big deal with telling her a few truths?”My lips quivered. I pushed saliva down my parched throat. Ccassie watched the scene unfolding before her with strange interest, as if she was having fun with it. “I should go, Mrs Vale.” I angled over in a deep bow, blinking away my tears. “I just remembered that I have somewhere to be.” “Good. Leave. Don’t come back here. Lucien may not be against it, but I am.”With that, I spun on my heel and scurried out of the house desperately. No one came after me. They were too busy bickering too. I cleaned the tears clinging to my lashes and booke

~Arya~What does he think it looks like? I’m having fun. If Cassie can be a bitch, I can be worse.“Nothing,” I replied, batting my lashes innocently. “I’m just telling her what we talked about. It’s not much of a big deal, is it?”“It seems like you’re trying to get on my nerves. That’s weird, Arya. You have a husband. Why would you try to make me jealous of you and Lucien.”She was apt. I hated that she could see through me so easily. She smirked and grabbed a pitcher of juice to fill a glass. “If i didn’t know better, i’d think you want him.”“What if I do?” I arched my brow. “Isn’t that what you think already? That’s why you set people to ambush me afterall.”“ARYA!”“Don’t use that tone with me,” I snapped at Lucien. “I won’t sit here and let her talk to me anyhow. If there’s anyone you should reprimand, it’s your petty fiancee.”Cassie sucked in a sharp breath, her eyes widening. “What the hell did you just say?”“You heard me correctly.”“What is going on here?” Silence stretch

~Arya~“Come in,” Cassie huffed, stretching a hand out to me. “We should get you cleaned up. This is partly my fault anyway. See, I own up to my mistakes when I'm wrong. I did this on purpose. I thought you could use a little lesson to put you in your place.”“So you recruited people to humiliate me in public?”She laughed, waving her hand in front of her face dismissively. “I didn’t recruit them. They just love me a little too much. I even get scared of the fans I have sometimes. Let's put that behind us now, Arya. Come inside and freshen up.”Without sparing me another glance, Lucien stalks inside, leaving me with the wench that's his fiancee. She ushers me in, taking control of the house like its hers. It will be hers soon. She has every right to act like that. But it still causes my stomach to twist.“Lucien told me you plan to get married soon,” I said, ignoring her outstretched hand and walking in on my own. Keeping a plastic smile on, I glanced at her. “Congratulatioons.”Her b
