MasukThe words tumbled out before I could stop them, sharp and unfiltered.
“Whoa, hold up with the questions. Let me at least get a chance to answer one.” He said, holding up a finger and smiling.
“I didn’t exactly send for you or kidnap you. You came with Mark, willingly, didn’t you?”
“Okay, yes, but still, I had no idea what he was up to.”
“You were selected by chance from Mark’s Pot of Gold contest.”
“So, how well do you know Mark Meadows?”
“It’s a long story. I’ll share it with you one day. But I don’t want to bore or ruin our night with such details, Ms. Charlize.
“I hope you don’t mind spending the first date with me instead of Blaze or Diamante?” Xavier asked me.
I said, relaxing back in my chair and crossing my legs.
I could see Xavier was attentive, his eyes following my every move. I had his attention as he watched me relax, and my mannerisms unfolded before his eyes, causing him to smile.
"No, don’t mind at all. I didn’t think I would ever go out on a blind date. But I’m cool with it. Are you blind?” I asked him in a small, playful, flirty way.
His eyebrows rose as his eyes began blinking a mile a minute. At first, I didn’t know if he understood. Then I saw a slight smile lifting the corners of his mouth.
Not a full smile, but it made me wonder what one would look like. It was the first time I’d seen him genuinely smile at me. However, it had a hint of shyness, as he caught on to my sense of humor.
I softly laughed at his expression. “Sorry, I had to say that little joke. I hoped it would break the ice. So you don’t do blind dates?” I asked, friendly.
“Uhm... not usually,” Xavier said, still grinning at me.
I made a slight frown appear between my brows. Xavier’s eyes danced to my every expression. I could tell he already found me surprisingly unique and intriguing. He looked at my lips as I spoke.
“Since that’s the case. I suppose we should shake hands and go our separate ways?”
“Are you suggesting our time together is over because I don’t do blind dates?” Although his voice now sounded concerned, there was something nice about meeting me, and he wasn’t ready for it to end so quickly.
“Did I offend you by saying I don’t do blind dates?”
“No, certainly not.” I smiled warmly at him.
“Oh, Good! Because my instinct is to invite you to spend the...” He paused as he saw my eyes expand, and now my eyelids began blinking a mile a minute like his.
“Go ahead and finish your statement.”
Xavier said quickly. “I give up; you won’t understand,” he said, shifting his eyes and looking around awkwardly. His heart pounded as he realized he’d messed up. I narrowed my eyes at him. I could feel what he was about to say or ask me in my bones. Now, more than ever, I was determined to teach this guy a lesson. I could tell he wanted to break the rules, or was he making a significant slip of the tongue?
I stared at the handsome man in disbelief. He was only inches away from my face now, and his words were still thick in the air around us.
“I don’t play by anyone’s rules. All I know is what I want—and right now, that’s you. Let me in. Let me be the one who changes everything.
“What?”Alright, maybe that’s too straightforward. So, let’s date and get to know one another.”
“Are you joking? This is not funny,” I whispered.
He was so close that the warmth of his breath fluttered against my skin. “No, I’m not joking. Do you hear me laughing?”
Xavier’s voice dropped, rough with honesty. He glanced at my lips, then back to my eyes, searching for a sign I felt it too. Suddenly, desire flashed between us—raw, undeniable. My pulse thundered. This was the moment everything changed.
“Hey, I just want a chance. What must a man like me do to be with you?”His face looked beautifully devastated.
Xavier held my gaze, interested in what I would say next.
“As a woman, I want my man to love me so fiercely, to be so infatuated with me, that nothing else matters to him. I want to be loved; no doubt. I’m afraid the man I choose might change his mind and take that love away. I want to feel safe, have a partner who can protect me, and return my love with the same intensity. It has nothing to do with money, fancy clothes, or wealth. Still, those things don’t hurt to have. But it’s the love that I’m seeking. See, you would have to be an exceptional man to be with me, and to be honest with you, I haven’t met an exceptional one yet.”
“Really?” Xavier asked.
“Yes. You don’t think I’m serious?”
“I do. Or is that just what you want?” Xavier asked, looking pensively at her.
I took a moment to think, avoiding his mesmerizing gaze and words. “That is what I want. But I think it’s what all women want too.”
“Maybe they broke the mold when I was born. But I know what I need, and that is the right woman in my life, someone who is going to care for the person I am underneath truly, and the person I am is what I want to give you. I want to fix all your problems and be that man that makes you happy.”
His words moved me in ways I could never articulate. “Stop right there,” I stated, studying him for a long moment before speaking. “What makes you so sure I’m the right woman?”
“Too bad I can’t have you right now,” Blaze murmured, glancing around conspiratorially before stealing a kiss—and then another, his hands roaming boldly. It was reckless, thrilling, and the man he used to be took whatever he wanted. He seemed to have vanished when he was near her. He’d always been careful, always loyal. But this was about love, love for one woman, Charlize, and he wanted to break all the rules if it meant he could be with her.But it was dark, and the only thing you could see was the stars reflecting off the water.“Wait, wait, babe,” Charlize mumbled, smiling, while his lips still moved hungrily against the soft skin on her breast.“Mm...” Blaze mumbled as his lips gradually stopped moving until they reached hers, lightly pressing against them. He opened his eyes and saw the stars and moon above. He smiled softly, pecking them again, then backed up and took her hand, sliding it up her inner thigh. Charlize squirmed as she took hold of his fingers and surprisingly smi
Blaze’s heart sped up as he took in a deep breath. Charlize gazed over her shoulder at him with those beautiful sable eyes. She felt his chest inhale and exhale against her back.Charlize turned around, facing him, gently placing her hands flat against his chest. Blaze saw the serene look in her eyes, saying something different from her words. He could see she didn’t feel uneasy and that she was letting her guard down. In that moment, Blaze felt she might just surrender her heart to him. It was something he had been dreaming about lately, being within her heart, but he was waiting for her to invite him in.But will she?Blaze, a responsible man, knew how deep she was in this. He didn’t take it lightly; it was her decision, and hers alone. But he knew what he was offering her. He felt the weight of being fully responsible for her fragile heart if she selected him.He felt honored and saw it as a privilege to be the one she was submitting her heart to, but he wanted her heart to be full
Charlize’s heart hammered in her chest the moment Blaze walked into the candlelit room—a vision so magnetic the world seemed to tilt. Every nerve in her body sparked with life, anticipation, and fear, electrifying her veins. This was it. This was the moment everything would change.“I have this vision of you in my head, and I can’t talk about it.” He chuckled. “I love what I see... and what you are doing to me.”Charlize softly gasped, smiling, as he stole her breath away. She put her hand over her mouth. “Blaze!”“I know I requested you tell me one thing. But you got me curious now. What’s your next thought?” Even though Charlize wanted to hear more, she didn’t know if she could handle it. With him looking so fine and sexy, talking in this manner would be too much for any girl to handle.“Well... it’s time for you to come home to me.”Charlize leaned forward, truly curious now. Then, with her eyes peering intently at him, she asked.“Home where?”“My home......I want you to be my fam
A crisp black envelope, trimmed in silver, waited on Charlize’s door. She barely finished reading the first line—Where dreams come true—before her heart skipped. Ball gowns. Tuxes. A night of gliding across the dance floor, of promises whispered with the ocean breeze. The invitation was pure temptation. “Will you be my partner this Saturday?” She was already reaching for her favorite dress. The only rule you need to be concerned with is saying yes to a night of fun as I drench you in romance! We will have an adventure as we sail across the ocean.I want this date to be one you’ll never forget. Forever Blaze ~Charlize couldn’t hide her smile. “Blaze, you really know how to sweep a girl off her feet.”That evening, Blaze arrived with no rough edges, exposed muscles, or tattoos. He looked devastatingly handsome in an all-black tuxedo. He carried himself with the confidence of a man who’d come to win her heart, not just impress her. Charlize’s heart stuttered at the sight of him, heat r
Charlize barely had time to catch her breath before sultry music filled the air—Diamante’s doing. She realized he wasn’t there to play around with her as he gave her this wicked grin. In a heartbeat, he began to move slowly and salaciously, deliberate, a tease bordering on reckless. He started to undress, and her heart hammered, nerves ricocheting into excitement. She couldn’t look away. Tonight, nothing would stay hidden.Diamante froze—a first for him. Dancing came easy, but tonight he was off-balance, undone by the way she watched him. Still, he flashed a cocky smile and started unbuttoning his shirt, slow enough for her to whisper, “Hurry, baby.” Every move was a dare. He watched her body react, the air between them charged with wild hunger. It hit him: they both wanted the same thing. Her gaze locked on the way his hips rolled, every movement both loose, sensual, and filled with hunger. Diamante’s lean, muscled frame was on full display. Once he got going, he was impossible to lo
A sharp rap at her door yanked Charlize from tangled dreams. She barely had time to process the heat lingering from last night’s kiss when a new voice—warm, playful—cut through the morning. The sun was up, but her heart was still racing. Today would not let her hide from trouble, or romance, for long.“Good morning, sunshine!” Diamante said, standing outside Charlize’s bungalow door.Light poured through the glass as Charlize blinked awake. There he was—a tall, charming figure, backlit by the sun, grinning at her door. She tried to push the memory of last night’s stolen heat aside, but it clung to her skin. No time to breathe. No time to forget. Another pulse of possibility waited on the threshold.Diamante, the youngest of the group, had to stand out. He had one shot to make her forget every other man. A bold move—something unforgettable—would be the only way.Diamante said, “Today is our day together, without any restrictions. Are you ready for some fun?”“Wait a minute, Mr. no rest
