Chapter four

" Oh my God, I can't believe it. The week is finally here! Look at this nana, look at these dresses and choose one for me. I'm going to be walking on the red carpet."

She looked at me and said excitedly while I nodded absently. Excitement was written all over her face which soon faded looking at my face.

It has been two weeks and three days since I came back from London with my cousin.

Her birthday was one week ago which was grovy with a lot of Hollywood actors and actresses present and that was when I found out she was the newest and most fast-rising actress in Hollywood.

I marveled beyond imagination. Don't get me wrong, I know she was an actress but I never knew she was already that big. She became a full actress the year, we left for London.

We are already in December and they were having an award night next week which she is dragging me to. I know I can't say no to her no matter what. Since she has secured a ticket for me and I'm going to be her plus one.

I have been feeling down for some days now. A few days from now is my parent's and aunty's death anniversary.

Matilda looked at me and asked sitting down beside me on the bed.

" what is it, Nana? What is bothering me?

Why are you keeping a long face?"

" Nothing, I'm okay Matilda " I looked at her and replied trying to smile but it came out stiff

" No, you are not an okay baby girl. Talk to my nana." She raised my chin and said.

" No, I'm okay. Stop being a grumpy old woman." I laughed softly. She looked at me weirdly and with doubt not believing a word of what I said

" I mean it, stop looking at me like that. I'm okay," I reassured.

She looked at me, shook her head, and let out a small laugh.

" You are the one who has been grumpy here baby girl, now spill before I kill whoever that is keeping you in this mood and I know when something is wrong. So talk to Nana" she said and grabbed my hands softly.

I took a deep breath, I know I couldn't escape from it. Matilda can never rest till she found out what is wrong.

" Next tomorrow and the day after it, is my anuty and my parent's death anniversary. Next tomorrow was supposed to be Fred's 5th birthday but I can't even celebrate it because of that.

For the first time in five years, I'm going to visit my lovely anuty and my Fred is going to meet her mom for the first time since he was born. This moment came reminding me of a bitter moment.

I looked at Matilda and laughed softly but bitterly

" Many at times I feel, I'm a bad girl and everyone, I came across something bad happens to them and everything comes grumbling leaving me with nothing but scar and memories. I don't know who will be the next person to....."

" Shh," Matilda put her finger across my lips and shut meme off. She pulled me into a hug and patted me back softly. She sniffed probably trying to control her tears.

" Shh, please don't say that. You are a blessing to everyone in your life and not a curse. Look at me, everything has been going well for me since you became my friend.

You are my superhero. It was just a coincidence that they parted the way they did. Be strong please, if not for you at least for our super boy. " she said and pulled away slightly and wiped my tears.

" Hmm." I nodded slightly.

" Now put a smile on that beautiful face of yours."

She said and stood up from the bed and started packing the clothes on the bed. She picked a pink waist necklace and looked at me.

" what are you still doing there? Stand up, we are going shopping

I looked at her like, she got two heads.

" What! No"

She put her hands on her waist and looked at me.

" Look Nana, you are going and that is final."

" No way, I'm not going anywhere with you."

" Hmm, as if I'm begging you. Baby girl, I'm dragging you there." She said with a chuckle and left the room.

I drop the wooden brush on the makeup table and stood up. Looking at my white strapless short knee gown and smiled before smoothing the edge of my dress.

A turned when I heard the opening of the front door. A genuine smile made its way to my face as my little superboy emerged from the door.

" Nana!" He shouted and run to me.

I lifted him and kissed his cheeks. He looked at me and smiled before he pecked my cheeks

" How was your outing with grandma."

" Nana, grandma took me to different places today. I made a new friend today."

" Really?" I asked surprised because the boy I know was never a friendly type.

" Yeah, Nana are you doubting me?" He asked raising his eyebrows.

" No, I'm not just surprised."

" Well..." We both turned to the intruder who entered the room leaving the door wide open.

A gasp escaped me seeing my friend walking into the room fully dressed.

She wore a silver short flare gown with a wedge silver shoe. Her hair was styled and packed in a ponytail bun with a few strains of her on her face. She looked beautiful.

" Babe, you look beautiful and ravishing. If I am a man I won't think twice before taking you up to my bed."

She laughed hardly holding her stomach.

" I'm a man, will you come and sleep in my bed?" Fred asked innocently which made both of us freeze.

She glared at me before turning to Fred who has gone down from my arms.

She walked towards him and knelt before him.

" How was your outing my superhero?"

"Fun, I made a friend today. " He said excitedly

" Really? That's my superhero."

" Let's do hero's handshake." They kneaded their fist together before shaking each other's hands and giving themselves a thumbs up.

"That's my superhero," she exclaimed

" When we come back both of us will sit and discuss and then, you tell me more about your new friend."

" Okay, anuty."He replied and turned to me.

" I love you, Nana."

" I love you too," I whispered, he smiled at me before he left the room excited.

After he left, Matilda looked at me with her hands on her waist and removed her shoes.

" Come here, I will teach you how to talk in front of kids today."

" I'm sorry ma!" I shouted and run out. There is no way. I'm letting you pinch my ears today.

I looked at my friend who just got into the car covering her head with a silver and white scarf and putting on sunglasses.

" Why are you covering yourself," I asked looking at her weirdly

" To avoid public attention."

" Hmm, I will love to see drama later," I said and chuckled.

She looked at me with her eyes wide open.

" Don't try that!"

I looked at her expression, laughed hard, and looked outside the window looking at the beautiful scenery.

So being a celebrity can be this hard!
