The news of Antonio de Luca’s death spread like wildfire through Philadelphia’s underworld, a blaze fanned by whispers in backroom deals, hushed phone calls between detectives, and the sharp, knowing glances of men who had spent their lives fearing his name.

Elena Conti the journalist, heard it first from a source in the DA’s office. The single text that she received sent her stomach plummeting.

“de Luca's dead. Died in his home."

She stared at the message, her fingers tightening around her phone until the edges bit into her palm. The coffee in her other hand went cold, forgotten.

No. Not now. Not like this. She thought to herself.

Months of digging. Years of chasing shadows. Every sleepless night, every risk she’d taken, was now all for nothing. Antonio Vincenzo would never face justice. Never be exposed. Never answer for the Alderman murder, for the bodies buried under his empire, for the city he’d rotted from the inside out.

And just like that, the truth died with him.

Adriana de Luca was her name, a name that carried weight in certain circles, though she hadn't known it for most of her life. Adriana's entire existence had been a secret, known only to a select few who had sworn never to speak of her. Born to Antonio de Luca, the formidable patriarch of one of the most powerful crime families in Philadelphia and Mamaa, as she affectionately called her mother. Adriana's life had been almost completely shaped by her father's absence. Her mother, a very beautiful Romanian woman named Elena Petran, had met Antonio during one of his extended business trips to Eastern Europe. Their romance had been fast and fiery, a tempestuous whirlwind of stolen moments in dimly lit Bucharest cafés and hushed promises exchanged in the back of Antonio’s armored car. Elena had been young, beautiful, and naive enough to believe a man like Antonio could ever truly belong to her. Their secret marriage had been fast, performed in a small Orthodox church with only two witne

The Mercedes CL300 purred to a stop in the underground garage of Marco's penthouse tower. Antonio killed the engine but didn't immediately move, his fingers still tight around the steering wheel. The dim garage lighting cast long shadows across the concrete walls, making the space feel more like a bunker than a parking structure. This was his first meeting with Marco since being freed from Isabella's captivity. One whole week of recovery, one whole week of silence from the organization. The only instruction had been clear: Stay away. Lay low. Now, the summons had come directly from Marco himself. That meant it must be something very serious.Antonio stepped out of the car, the sound of his dress shoes echoing sharply against the concrete. He adjusted his suit jacket - navy blue, tailored, the fabric still stiff from the cleaners - and made his way to the private elevator. As the doors slid shut, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirrored walls. The bruises around his neck had fa

As soon as Gabriel had received the half payment from Marco, he was on the first flight to Philadelphia to get the mission on the way. Gabriel moved through the shadows of Isabella's estate like smoke. The security was tight, too tight for a simple family home. Infrared sensors. Armed guards at every entrance. Motion-activated lights. This wasn't protection; this was a fortress keeping someone in.“What kind of psycho lives here?”, he thought as he disabled the third camera with practiced ease.It was really not easy to identify Isabella’s duplex in the estate despite the information Marco had emailed him. He assessed the duplex through the back gate wasn’t as hard as he had thought, the hard was now how to navigate through the compound undetected. Guards were patrolling the compound with trained security dogs who could catch a scent of him and put him in deep trouble. He hid behind a hedge of neatly trimmed flowers, taking shallow breaths to avoid letting the sharp ears of the dog

The study was too warm. Cigar smoke curled in the lamplight, thickening the air like a threat.Marco stood in front of the fireplace, the heat licking at his back. Slowly but steadily the room filled with Philadelphia’s most dangerous men. Don Valleti toyed with his scotch glass, his knuckles scarred from a lifetime of "negotiations” was there, with some other members of his family. The Cavallo brothers with their matching gold watches, even old man Scarpetta, who hadn’t left his compound in years. The mayor lingered near the whiskey cart, his politician’s smile strained and stretched thin over teeth meant for biting. His father's big chair was empty and placed in the middle of the study. A throne carved from shadows and unfinished business.Marco waited until the murmurs died down. Then, without raising his voice, he spoke. “So as you all know, My father is dead."He paused, and let his words sit. He watched all their faces, the quick glances, the hidden hands and twitching fingers.

Marco grip on his phone tightened as Matteo’s message burned into his vision. Your father is dead. The words were simple. Final. No explanation, no warning… just the cold, abrupt declaration of an ending. For a moment, Marco didn’t move. He could not move even if he tried. His father had been a constant, a force as unshakable as the foundations of La Signori Della Notte itself. And now, in the worst possible moment, he was just… gone. Marco exhaled sharply, his eyes stinging with tears he hadn’t realized he’d been holding back. His hands trembled as he unlocked his phone and dialed Matteo. The line connected instantly. “Where is he?” Marco demanded, voice rough. “He died In his bed. A maid found him not long ago,” Matteo replied. The call ended as abruptly as it began. Marco snatched his car keys, strode into his room, and yanked on vintage pants and an oversized sweatshirt. Within minutes, he was out of the penthouse, the elevator doors sealing shut behind him. His mind reeled.
