Leon's POV

I stared at the waving students as they walked towards me.

They looked so normal. You wouldn’t even know they were in a crazy cult.

“Hey, you must be Leon,” one of them spoke up, and I nodded, unsure how to proceed.

“Hi, I’m Kai, this is my twin brother Kian, and this is Dale,” he smiled, gesturing to everyone.

He looked so friendly that my hostility made me seem very impolite, so I had to spit out a response of sorts.

“Hi, I’m Leon, nice to meet you,” I smiled, and they all grinned.

“I heard from Chancellor Vara that you had woken up. We’re in charge of showing you around the school and taking you to your dorm,” Kai smiled.

I wanted to ask him a few questions, but I held on first. I needed to play along for now.

“Come on, we’ll give you a tour around,” Kian smiled, speaking up for the first time.

I followed them as I had no choice.

“Ok, so this building you just were in is the Student Needs building. The last three floors are part of the school’s clinic,” he explained, and I looked up instinctively.

The building I had jumped from had four floors. Three of them being a hospital was crazy.

That meant this cult probably harmed their students a lot for them to need that much hospital space.

As if noticing the look on my face, Kian went on to explain:

“The last floor is for Omegas in heat and Alphas in rut. It’s pretty soundproof, so you don’t have to worry about hearing anything. Most Omegas have their heats with their partners in one of those rooms, so it’s pretty comfortable for them,” he explained and smiled.

He looked like he believed what he was saying.

That was the funny thing about this whole thing. They all looked like they believed everything they were saying.

“The second floor before that is for regular clinic stuff. So, like, the regular clinic for injuries,” he explained, and my sensors went up again.

Injuries?

I knew it was probably me just pushing it, but I somehow had this feeling that said injuries were very much inflicted by them.

“And the remaining floors?” I asked.

“Oh, the next floor below is for admin and research, and then this final floor is for the gym,” he explained.

At least they had fitness as a priority.

I guess they did, seeing how everyone here looked like they stepped out of some fitness catalog.

I mean, even the guy that had been an asshole was ripped af.

What were they even training for?

Probably to catch people that try to escape and torture them.

“On the other side of this building we have the cafeteria. It’s a building attached from the left,” he explained as we walked to God knows where.

“Have you had dinner?” Kian asked.

“No,” I responded, and my stomach grumbled.

I was hungry. I didn’t even know how long I had been out.

“Come on, let’s get you something to eat. Dinner is over already, but we can get you some stuff from the vending machines. I don’t think you have anything in your room yet, so you’ll just have to make do. We’ll drop by the mall tomorrow and get you what you need,” he explained.

Mall?

“Did you say mall?” I had to ask.

“Yeah. There’s a werewolf settlement around the school, and they have pretty much anything you want. We should get you everything you need. Also, you should get your card tomorrow. It’ll give you an estimate on how much you can spend.” I raised my brows, even more confused.

“So your card has a sum of money in it that is deposited monthly by your family. For those of us that live in the human realm, the shifter realm has a conversion method, so you don’t have to worry. They’ll convert your money to Wolf bucks. Though the exchange rate is a bitch. Shifter currency is pretty high against the dollar but… the value of one Wolf buck is really high. So you don’t have to worry too much,” he smiled like he hadn’t just spat out a series of crazy words in a sequence I had never heard in my life.

Realm?

Exchange rate?

“Shifter realm?” I asked before I could stop myself.

They all froze and turned to me.

Holy fuck. Had I said something wrong?

Was this their cue to attack me?

“Do you know where we are?” Dale, who had been silent the whole time, spoke up.

“Umm… no?” I answered, even more worried.

They looked at each other.

“Do you know the shifter realm?” Kai asked, and again I shook my head.

They looked even more confused than I did.

“Do you know about werewolves?” Kian asked, and they all looked at me expectantly.

“No,” I answered truthfully.

“Do you know about Alphas, Betas, and Omegas?” Kai asked again, and I had to shake my head.

That was just code word for crazy crazy crazy.

“Fuck, Madam Vara didn’t tell us you were fresh meat. She told us you were still learning the ropes, and we figured you must have been like us when we came. We didn’t know you had no idea about the shifter realm or anything,” Kian said, looking at me with pity.

“I’m sure we must have been creeping you out the whole time, spouting nonsense,” Kai said, and I nodded.

I wasn’t going to deny it when they had spent almost all their time creeping me the fuck out.

“We’re so sorry. Umm… we can give you a rundown of everything. But you’ll probably get a course or something as you’re new to it all. So something like Introduction to Shifting. We have your class schedule. We were supposed to hand it to you.” Dale reached inside the bag he was holding and brought out a printed sheet.

They opened it and went through it.

“Here, you have History of the Shifter World, Shifting 101, Omegas and Their Importance in Society, Omega physiology and Hear care...” they both looked up at me and back at the sheet.

“You’re an Omega?” Kai asked, and the others looked at me.

“Umm, seeing that we’ve just established that I have no idea what those are, I think you should know I have no idea what the answer to that question is,” I responded, and they all looked down at the paper and back at me.

“Why did she assign us to you then? Wouldn’t it be better if she assigned you to other Omegas?” Kian asked, and Kai punched him in the shoulder.

Don’t tell me they had a caste system or hierarchy and Omegas were at the bottom.

“Let me guess, Omegas are bottom of the barrel and you don’t want to touch them, smell them, or even look at them,” I said, giving them a once-over.

Typical cult behavior.

They had to have someone they could punch down to.

“No no no no," Kai said immediately, shaking his head.

“It’s just that we have no idea how to discuss Omega physiology with you. We are just Betas. We are not deserving of you,” he said, and that froze me.

Deserving?

What sort of fucked-up place was this?

“Ok, now you’re freaking him out, Kai,” Kian said and looked toward Dale to fix things.

“That is not what he meant. Kai has this weird Omega-worship kink, so just ignore him. I think this will be easier to understand if we give you a rundown of everything,” Dale said.

“Go ahead then,” I shrugged, and he nodded.

“But first let’s go get something to eat, I’m starving,” I said, and they nodded.

“Sorry, we forgot about that,” Kian spoke up, and we made our way to the cafeteria.

It was large.

As I stared at it, Kai spoke up behind me.

“Most students eat here, though some prefer to cook in their rooms,” he explained, and I nodded.

We picked up some stuff. Kai paid.

“Your card isn’t available yet. So don’t worry. The school will reimburse me,” he grinned, noticing my expression.

“Let’s show you to your room,” Dale gestured toward a different path.

“You can start explaining now,” I spoke up.

I needed to know everything I could about this cult so I could figure out a way to escape.

Whatever this was.

Leon's POVNext morningI opened my eyes and looked around. I was still in my room or should I say apartment. I was exhausted, confused, and scared as hell. After what I saw last night, I was hoping it was just a dream and that I would wake up this morning and somehow find out it was all a dream, or I was in a coma or something, but it was all real.Although the coma option was still on the table. I heard people sometimes had vivid experiences while in comas and so I was hoping that was what this was.I had seen something so impossible, something so fantastical that I was actively trying to get myself to believe it was real and I was actively failing. It was crazy. It was impossible.Scientifically.I wasn’t a science major, but even I knew that.I watched a human being break and tear themselves until they turned into a wolf right in front of me.It still sounded crazy when I said it out loud or even thought of it.How was that possible?I would have said it was fake if I hadn’t stood

Leon's POV I reached for the doorknob and the door was unlocked. These crazy women had left the door open. I didn't know if it was a blessing or they were just so sure their security would keep me in place that they didn't even try to lock me in. Whichever it was, I needed to use this opportunity. I didn't know when next I'd have that. I opened the door and looked around. The hallway was empty. All my stuff was nowhere to be found. I just had to get out of here and find a ride out of here or a way to contact Reginald. I tiptoed down the halls. I had no idea where I was going; it was an endless sprawl of halls. There was no way I wasn't getting lost or caught. I took steps back to the hospital wing and shut the door. I had already looked around and there were no cameras in the room, but I wasn't sure there wouldn't be someone somewhere in those halls. I walked to the windows and attempted to open them. It opened immediately without me having to put so much effort. What was g

My brain was pounding like a motherfucker, and all I wanted to do was rip it off and go to sleep. But whoever was speaking in the background obviously didn't want that for me, as I continued to hear their voice like a nail scraping my brain."What do we tell him?" I heard a voice in the background say, and I groaned inside my head. They could start by not telling me anything. I wanted them to shut up so I could continue sleeping, and then maybe I could pass out and pass on."I really don't want to be the person here when he wakes," another voice whispered, or at least what sounded like an attempted whisper.Well, then you can leave, for fuck’s sake. They were making it even worse. I just wanted to sleep. What about that couldn’t they understand?"Shhh, be quiet. Let's not wake him up," the first voice spoke back.Well, that's too late, seeing as they weren't even giving me the chance to sleep back.My stomach grumbled, and I felt a pang of
