Thirty Eight: Closure
Her heart was pounding when she knocked on the cabin door, she didn't think she would be that nervous. It got worse when the door finally opened and those blue eyes were looking right at her. "Charlie?" he was surprised, not in a pleasant way. "What are you doing here?" He was unprepared.
"I ... I just wanna talk to you," she hesitated.
He paused for a moment, "Okay ... now is not a good time ... but ..." he looked back inside the cabin and turned back to her, "I guess we can talk outside." He stepped out to the veranda, before he closed the door, there was a voice coming from inside, a girl, "Tom! Where do you keep your boiling pan?"
There was already a girl in the cabin, she pretended it wasn't awkward. She knew she didn't have the right to feel anything about it, but she did. He looked pale and distracted, "Errrmmm ... boiling pan?" he didn't remember where it was.

Shiver Thirty Nine: Election Day
It was her first time voting, and conveniently, she was voting for her own father. It was a day off for everyone in Bluebridge so they can spend most of the morning to cast their votes. The afternoon was spent counting the votes at the Town Hall, although it was done by the government officials, most people just hang around to celebrate whatever the outcome would be.Charlene was walking home by herself, not the least interested to wait for the result. She knew her dad would win the election by a landslide. She thought she would just go home and celebrate privately with her family. She didn't come to the bonfire the next day, but she cameto the one on the weekend after that. She didn't want to put herself around Tommy too often, it was still hard for her too. They both still felt the jitters when they sat side by side with each other, it was the only spot their friends left for her that night, right next to Tommy.He can smell her soft cologne as she sat down. The fabric was light and loose. It hiked up when she sat, showing parts of her skin, glowing as the bonfire reflected on them. He tried not to look. He can smell the scent of her body lotion when she moved around beside him.

Ever since her father became Mayor, things were a little different around the house. Security guards followed him around, it wasn't necessary, it was protocol. They were always seen standing around his official car with nothing to do. The house had become a regular venue for the officials' wives club every other week. To be back with Tommy was easy. It didn't need any getting used to, even after being apart longer than they've been together. Landon felt more like a strangerthan Tommy ever was.
