Chapter 181

Penulis: Sienna Yates
Nate turned to Theo, clearly trying to shift the blame.

“Theo, the reason we lost this time is because you’re still too inexperienced. Did you see how well Matty performed? That 0.1-point difference—Kelly lost because of you.”

But Theo’s mind was still stuck on the image of Sharon performing onstage.

He’d never seen his mom like that before. She looked like someone else—radiant, almost unreachable. And yet, he couldn’t look away.

Was that really his mom? When had she become so incredible? She was even better than Kelly.

He was just a kid. He didn’t know much about music. But even he could tell—his mom’s violin sounded better. Way better.

And that Matty…

He didn’t want to admit it, but Matty’s playing was leagues ahead of his.

Their duet had been nearly flawless.

He couldn’t argue with that.

Looking down, Theo muttered, “I’m sorry. I held Kelly back.”

Nate nodded. “Exactly. If it weren’t for you, Kelly would’ve gotten a perfect score. So really, this isn’t even her loss.”

  • Side Chick Era… Over   Chapter 196

Theo had been raised under a strict, elite education from the very beginning.Swimming—one of the most basic survival skills—was something he had mastered when he was just a few years old. In his kindergarten, swimming was a required course. In certain situations, it could mean the difference between life and death for a child. They even held swimming competitions during final exams.Matty, on the other hand, hadn't yet learned how to swim. Last year, he'd accidentally fallen into the ocean, and the trauma had left him with a deep fear of water. Still, he knew it was something he had to overcome. He'd made up his mind to learn before the end of the semester—to face that fear, head-on.Sharon had encouraged him when she heard.…Theo froze, his breath suddenly uneven.Right. He had forgotten. He could swim.Just moments ago, he had followed them—shadowed their steps—only to be caught by Matty."Theo," Matty had said. "You really followed us all the way here? After trailing behin

"Carter, the person you should be questioning is Theo, not me." Sharon's voice was laced with thinly veiled contempt and clear impatience. "If you called just to interrogate me about this, then don't bother calling again. I won't pick up anymore."Carter's voice came through, cold enough to cut. "Stay where you are. If you try to take Theo and leave, I'll have no choice but to have someone detain you."Sharon had been planning to look around the amusement park after hearing Theo might be there. But hearing that haughty, commanding tone in his voice changed her mind entirely."Carter," she said, her voice calm but sharp, "you once told me that if you need something from someone, you'd better learn how to ask nicely."Carter sounded almost incredulous. "Ask? You think I'm asking you for something?"She didn't wait for a response. "You're not asking—you're ordering. And who do you think you are, exactly? Why should I take orders from you? I hope you get one thing straight. I am not y

Carter went pale. "Say that again?"The voice on the line sharpened. "Sean fell in the lake—they've rushed him to the hospital!"…Back at the amusement park, Sharon's good mood had been completely ruined by Carter's call.Matty looked up at her and spoke gently, "Sharon, since Theo is missing, maybe we should help look for him. Even if we stayed here, we probably wouldn't enjoy ourselves."Sharon's eyes flickered faintly, like a candle flame in a draft.Matty added, "Theo and I go to the same kindergarten. We're good friends. If something really happened to him… I'd be really sad too."Sharon glanced at him, her expression hard to read. From what she'd heard, Theo had been bullying Matty at school. She'd already been called in by the teachers twice to mediate between them. But even so, Matty still called Theo a friend—still wanted to help. That kind of understanding… was quietly heartbreaking. Then Xavier spoke up too. "We should go help look for him. No matter what, Theo i

The first time a person filed for divorce, they would have to wait six months before they could file again. Then there was mediation, more paperwork—layers of procedure. To actually finalize it? One would have to look at two years, minimum.Getting married was easy. Just sign a paper. But divorce? It was hard. Even if both parties agreed, there was still a mandatory cooling-off period. On the other end of the line, silence lingered for a few seconds."Sharon," Carter said. "Is Theo with you?"Sharon frowned. "No, he's not.""You're sure?" he pressed. "Theo really isn't with you?"Her tone began to cool. "Carter, what exactly are you trying to say?""Theo's missing."Her voice turned cold. "Then go look for him. Why are you calling me? You think I can just conjure him out of thin air?""You don't sound surprised. Not even a little worried," he said.Kelly's words still echoed in his mind, planting seeds of doubt. And Sharon… she didn't sound shocked at all.But Sharon wasn'

"How could Theo just disappear?!" Madeline's voice rose, sharp with tension. "Are you sure he didn't go to that birthday party he mentioned?"Carter replied calmly, but with a grim edge. "He left both his phone and tracking watch at home. Clearly, he didn't want to be found."Madeline gasped. "But he loves Kelly the most, doesn't he? Have you asked her?""Not yet," he said. "I'll call her now."Theo was her precious grandson. Madeline hurriedly added, "Let me know if you hear anything... No, forget it. I'll go search with Denise too."After hanging up, Carter dialed Kelly. She sounded surprised when she answered. "Theo's not with me… Is he missing?"Panic crept into her voice. A real accident would ruin everything. Without Theo, she had no excuse to stay close to Carter. It was so much easier to manipulate a child than an adult. After a pause, her voice softened. "Carter, do you think… do you think Sharon might've taken him?"Carter's brow furrowed. "But Marie is sure he left

"Matty, Sharon, here—you two take these."Sharon smiled and thanked him. "Lately I've been eating so many desserts, I'm starting to wonder if I'll gain weight."Biting into his cone, Xavier replied, "A woman with a few curves look better anyway. All bones just looks... wrong."Matty looked up curiously. "Sharon, did you not used to eat sweets?""Mm," she nodded. "After I had Theo, I almost stopped completely."Matty paused for a second, then seemed to understand."Is it because Theo is lactose intolerant, so you stopped eating sweets too?"Sharon gave a small nod.Xavier, seemingly reminded of something, added, "All these years, you've just been holding back like this? You were married to Carter for five years, and I don't think he ever even knew what you liked to eat."Sharon had always liked bold flavors—especially spicy food. Practically addicted to it. But for years, everything she made was mild and clean, because of Carter's and Theo's dietary needs. She said, "If I don'
