Chapter 377

Author: Sienna Yates
"But... your pronunciation just now wasn't quite right," Sharon said. "The correct pronunciation should sound like this—"

She paused awhile.

Then, in flawless Spanish, she repeated every word Gregory had used earlier to mock her education.

Her voice was steady, light but precise, each syllable crisp, each tone textbook-perfect.

The entire hall fell silent.

Those who had moments ago been laughing along with Gregory now sat frozen, faces stiff, expressions collapsing into awkward disbelief.

Gregory's facial muscles twitched. His face flushed red, then turned pale, then flushed again—like someone had slapped him clean across the face, even though no one had touched him.

It burned.

He was a professor, renowned in his field. Wherever he went, people called him Professor Finch with the utmost respect. He was fine when it came to academic research, translating papers, and dissecting texts. But spoken language… well, that was always his weakness.

Still, no one ever challenged him on i

  • Side Chick Era… Over   Chapter 1594

The moment Sharon pushed open the conference room door, every gaze inside snapped toward her at once. The room fell into a terrifying silence. The way everyone looked at her was impossible to describe—strange, almost eerie. Since joining the Kalen Group, Sharon had never encountered anything like this. Her eyes shifted slightly, and she caught sight of Richard's conflicted expression, Rick's dark, stormy face, and Victoria's calm indifference. What on earth had happened? And who was this major client attending today's meeting? With those questions in mind, Sharon turned her gaze in that direction. A refined, fair, handsome face came into view. The man's lips curved into a smile, just like before—clean, crisp, carrying that familiar youthful air. Sharon's hand trembled. She failed to steady the documents she was holding, and they slipped from her grasp, scattering onto the floor. The secretary beside her immediately bent down to pick them up. When the man noticed

But that was impossible. Without hypnosis, one year was already the shortest possible timeframe. Even then, it only delayed the progression of Thomas's condition, postponing the next relapse—it could not cure him.Lorna let out a low sigh. "Huh… I guess heaven is fair, after all. No one's perfect."Carmen's brows knitted slightly, a shadow of worry crossing her expression. "This is Thomas's only flaw… and it's a deadly one."Lorna picked up on her concern. "That serious? Even if he relapses, with his skills, it wouldn't be easy for anyone to actually harm him, right?"Carmen said calmly, "Lorna, there are more ways to hurt someone than just with weapons. You can kill without bloodshed, imperceptibly. He used to have no obvious weaknesses—but now, it's different. Sharon is both his armor and his Achilles' heel."On the ride back, Wendy noticed Sharon staring silently out the window, her mood muted. Even after securing such a massive project, there was no trace of joy on her face.

Sharon shook her head, thinking it must be her imagination. "It's nothing."Just then, her phone vibrated lightly.Wendy, noticing the movement, leaned over curiously. "J messaged you again?"After Sharon's personal information had been exposed, several of her alternate identities were compromised, including her artist persona, MK. Wendy would never forget the shock and disbelief on the Kalen family's faces when they realized just how accomplished Sharon really was. They had never imagined that the girl they looked down on excelled in so many fields—especially Victoria, who had even bid on one of MK's paintings.Ever since Sharon's information leaked, J had occasionally sent her gifts, claiming it was to thank her for giving away paintings for free. The gifts weren't extravagant, but each was thoughtful, sometimes even handmade, and perfectly aligned with Sharon's aesthetic. Gifts like these were almost impossible to refuse.Wendy was impressed. "This girl really gets your taste

"If an empire could be toppled in just a year or two, the Malcolm family would have collapsed long ago. Besides, even the top-tier families wouldn't deserve their reputation—no drama would dare write it that way."It wasn't just Sharon who couldn't do it; even Thomas couldn't.Families like the Kalen, Westin, Blakely, Malcolm, or Walton clans were not so easily defeated. Even if the head of the family died, bankrupting the entire house was no simple feat. Their power structures were decentralized and complex. To prevent one poor decision from toppling everything, no single person ever held absolute authority. No one had the power to act unilaterally.Sharon nodded. "Exactly. Instead of trying to bankrupt them, it's smarter to chip away at their market share. There's plenty of room for us to seize resources from them. Without the core resources Uriah entrusted to me, I wouldn't have been able to carve out a slice of the pie while the Malcolm family's dominance remained intact. My suc

Sharon stared at the masked man who had invited her to dance. Somehow, he felt strangely familiar. She couldn't help but glance at him a few more times. Over the past six months, Sharon had attended countless banquets, and unless it was impossible to refuse, she rarely accepted dance invitations.Seeing her linger on the man, Wendy teased, "Sharon, why don't you dance? Even if you refuse him, someone else will come ask later anyway."Sharon appraised the man carefully, yet try as she might, she couldn't recall where she had seen him before. After a moment's thought, she reached out her hand to accept the invitation. The man wore black gloves and took her left hand, slightly stiffly. A wolf-shaped mask covered most of his face, leaving only a pair of deep, dark eyes visible.Sharon was certain she had seen him somewhere before. He remained silent, unbothered by her scrutiny, giving no indication of speaking.Sharon broke the quiet. "Sir, have we met somewhere before?"The man pa

Sharon said, "Having so many people around draws too much attention. I'm not used to being followed by a crowd. Two at most—one to protect you, one to protect me."Her reasoning was sound, and Wendy could only accept it with a resigned nod.Loki appeared fragile, almost delicate, yet his combat skills were anything but weak. In fact, his slight frame gave him an edge: his appearance was so deceiving that opponents tended to underestimate him.Jordan, on the other hand, had the physique and aura of a trained fighter. While neither matched Thomas in looks, both stood out among ordinary bodyguards, and Wendy found them very satisfactory. As for Sharon… she felt indifferent.Still, when fatigue overtook her, she occasionally slipped, calling Loki by Thomas's name.Wendy sent Loki and Jordan to wait by the door, then helped Sharon into her new dress. As she adjusted the gown, Wendy asked, "By the way, Sharon, have you met the head of the Lilo family? I heard she's a young woman, very
