Chapter 4

Penulis: Snail
The cruise ship docked safely at the Black Rose Pack's pier. As soon as Philip finished loading the luggage into the car, Laila ran over panickingly, holding Ray in her arms. "Ray's stomach hurts. What if something's wrong?"

Philip checked him over quickly, but found nothing obvious. "We should go to the nearby healer's hut. Better safe than sorry."

He lifted Ray into the car, then turned to me with guilt in his eyes. "Grace, can you take the luggage back to the villa for now? I'll take Ray to the healer."

Without waiting for my answer, he pulled all the luggage from the trunk and placed it on the ground. He then helped me out of the car and planted a kiss on my forehead.

"Go ahead and rest at the villa. We'll be back soon. Thank you."

With that, he sped away, leaving me standing alone on the pier beside three large suitcases and one small one.

In the five years, he had never once let me carry a bag.

Now? He would dump all the bags on me without hesitation—all because someone else mattered more to him.

My body was tense the whole time during the ride in the crowded economy cabin. My stomach had started cramping, and I had barely made it off the boat in one piece. Now there was not even a ride home for me.

My phone buzzed nonstop. Philip's parents kept messaging, asking when we would arrive.

I picked it up, but suddenly, everything blurred. My vision went black, and I collapsed.

When I woke up, I was lying on a bed in the healer's hut.

"A kind stranger brought you in," said the healer.

Then he looked serious, saying, "You're pregnant. But it's not going well."

I stared at him, stunned. "I'm pregnant?" I touched my belly, completely overwhelmed.

The healer sighed and explained gently, "Yes. It's been about a month. But your body is too weak. You're not in good shape to carry a pup."

He paused, then added softly, "He may not make it."

I could not hear anything else. My mind repeated just one sentence—

"I'm pregnant."

I had never imagined that right as I was planning to break the mate bond with Philip, I would be carrying his child.

I had long accepted that I might never have a child. All that, and this little life came to me without warning.

I felt both joy and fear. I did not know how to face it.

Should I tell Philip?

My body was too exhausted to think at this point. I left the healer's hut and dragged myself back to the villa. The moment I lay down, I fell into a deep sleep.

I did not know how long I had slept before a strong pair of arms pulled me into a warm embrace.

Philip's voice came softly from above me. "Grace, thank you for everything yesterday. Wake up, I want to take you somewhere special."

He helped me into a beautiful dress and carefully did my hair and makeup. He then brought me to the finest restaurant in the Black Rose Pack—a quiet, elegant place deep in the woods.

Philip had always wanted to bring me here, but I had refused every time. It was too expensive.

I did not refuse this time.

He sat close beside me, handed me a glass of red wine, and leaned in to whisper in my ear. "I promise—it's just the two of us today. No one else will get in the way."

  • Silent Revenge   Chapter 12

After becoming Ryan's mate, not much changed in my daily life. I spent most of my time shopping or relaxing with his mom. They never let me go back to work."There are already two people making money in this house," Ryan's mom would say."You and I are just here to look beautiful."News about Philip still reached me from time to time—mainly because things got completely out of control. On the day of his Marking Ceremony, Philip beat up the bride so badly that she ended up in the healer's place. Her unborn pup did not survive.People said he had lost his mind, that he shouted like a madman."Our baby died! Why should yours live? Why do you get to live?! You all should die!"Philip's parents locked him up at home. They invited every healer and witch doctor they could find, but each one left shaking their heads. He clutched a rag doll day and night, calling it his child. He could not even recognize his own parents anymore.Philip's mother brought Laila home from the healer's place

I struggled hard, but I could not break free from Philip.Laila stormed out of the room next door. She froze when she saw us, screamed and rushed over, slapping Philip on the back with all her strength."Philip! Do you even remember what day it is? How can you hug another woman right in front of me?! Have you thought about how I'd feel?"Philip's arms loosened. His body flew backward and hit the ground hard, landing a few feet away.I was pulled into a warm embrace. It was Ryan."Are you okay?" he asked, voice tight with worry. "Did he hurt you?"I shook my head.Ryan let out a breath and wrapped his arm around me, turning to leave.Philip staggered up from the floor and lunged at me again. "Grace, don't go!"Laila stood frozen when she first saw my face. She then snapped out of her daze and rushed forward to block him. "Philip! You've got the wrong person. Grace is dead! She just looks like her. Pull yourself together!"Philip's eyes turned bloodshot as he roared at her, "Sh

After Ryan found out I had truly let go of Philip, he started spending more time at home. His mother often grumbled to me, "Ryan keeps stealing you from me! We were supposed to go to an auction together today, and he swiped my invitation!"Still, no matter how much she complained, she would happily push me toward him and wink, "Ryan, take good care of Grace, okay? And tonight—no need to come home early."It was not difficult to tell Ryan liked me.At the auction, he placed a high bid and won a moonstone necklace just to give it to me.When he handed it over, I did not take it.Instead, I asked, "Ryan, your feelings make me nervous. I didn't even know you before you saved me, but you act like you've known me forever. Have we met before?"He looked at me gently and asked, "Do you remember the boy you dragged out of a swamp in the forest ten years ago?"I paused and looked at him in shock. "That was you?"Back then, I had gotten lost in the forbidden forest during a gathering. I

My life returned to normal gradually, but things were falling apart for Philip. He never stopped looking for me. Every day, he would go from healing places to forests, beaches, and police stations, desperately searching for any trace of me.The day I was discharged, Philip caught a glimpse of my profile in the hospital parking lot. He ran after me without thinking, but stumbled and fell after just a few steps.Lying on the ground, he screamed my name, but the car never stopped.Back at his family's villa, Laila acted like she was already Philip's partner. She even pulled Ray over and asked in a sweet, suggestive tone, "Ray, how about we let Uncle Philip be your daddy from now on?"Before Ray could answer, Philip's mother, who happened to be walking by, shut it down coldly. "No. How is Philip supposed to find a real mate in the future if someone else heard that?"That single sentence shattered all of Laila's dreams. After I disappeared, Philip's mother tried hard to set him up wi

I woke up in a strange villa."You're awake," greeted a gentle voice. "Are you hurting anywhere? You've been unconscious for three days."It was Ryan, the kind stranger who had taken me to the healer's place before.I offered him a weak smile and said, "Thank you. You saved me again."Then my hand moved to my flat stomach. "The baby—it's gone, isn't it?"Ryan's silence was all the answer I needed.A single tear rolled down my cheek. I closed my eyes and said nothing more.…The afternoon sun was warm. Ryan took me out in a wheelchair for some fresh air by the beach."Your family's been going crazy looking for you these past few days," he said. "Do you want to contact them? If not, I can help you leave."His words stirred something in me. I turned to him. "Why are you helping me?"We were strangers. He had no reason to save me twice, let alone offer to help me escape now.Ryan looked down, something unreadable in his eyes. "Someone once helped me like this. If she were in my

Laila was happy I was gone. She had been waiting for this moment. With me out of the picture, she could finally take me place at Philip's side. She tapered her excitement and feigned sympathy, softly saying, "Philip, I'm sorry for your loss. You have to move on—"Smack! Philip slapped her across the face hard."Shut up!" he roared. "I'll kill you first If you ever dare to curse Grace again!"Laila was terrified. For a moment, she truly believed he could strangle her.Just then, Ray came out stomping, his tiny fists hitting Philip's legs. It did not hurt at all, but his own hands were turning red."Philip! You hit Mommy! You're a bad guy! You and Grace are both bad people! You should die just like that mean woman!"His innocent little face twisted into something far too cruel for his age.Philip stared at him in shock. "Ray… do you even know what you're saying?"Laila quickly grabbed Ray and covered his mouth, forcing a smile. "He doesn't mean it, he's just a child. Please don
