The Nightmare.
Lauren walked down the void of darkness not knowing where she was. She tried to call for help but strangely, her throat was parched and no sound came out of her mouth. She was scared. her heart slammed against her chest as if threatening to burst out in no time. She shut her eyes tight and closed her ears with her palms.
She was lost.
“Lauren.” A voice called out in the wind. A voice she knew perfectly well. A voice she could recognise anywhere in the world.
It was her mother.
Opening her eyes, she found herself in a vast dessert with wind that threatened to knock her off her feet. Just where the hell was she?
“Mom?” she called out, hoping she would see her mother, and she did! A hand landed on her shoulders and when she turned, there stood her mother, wearing her ever charming smile.

Lauren sat as stiff as a tree in the car, unable to look outside as usual to admire nature. She couldn’t believe she was on her way to the very place she dreaded most! Lauren felt her entire energy being drained from her. Her father chose his title over her mother. He chose wealth over her and her mother. Her brain found it hard to process that and the more she tried to make up excuses for him in her head, the more the tears came. The minute the car halted in front of the Knight’s mansion, she walked straight upstairs, trying hard not to break down in front of all these people. She stopped in front of the master bedroom and after some thought, she turned back and headed to the first floor where the guest rooms were and picking a random one, she walked in, closing the door behind her. She sat down in front of a mirror hating the face she saw. It reminded her that she was just a second choice to her father. Without wasting time, she quickly removed it, and at the sight of that face that reminded her so much of her mother, she broke down to0 tears. Seconds trickled by but yet the little guy hadn’t spoken a word. He only stood rooted at a spot, looking straight at her. Lauren’s body shivered unconsciously. Was he going to tell his father? Lauren opened the door as quietly as she could, perking into the room and when she saw no sign of Malcolm, she heaved a sigh of relief and dashed for her closet door.
