Lucas’s POV

Bennet has been ignoring me at school for days now. Not just pretending I wasn’t there… but looking through me like I’d stopped existing.

And maybe I had. To him, at least.

I knew I deserved the cold shoulder and even worse so I didn't try to get in his space. I could give him enough time to cool off.

But damn, I hated not knowing what he was thinking. Not knowing if he hated me or if he was hurting too. Not knowing if all those nights meant anything or if he’d already buried me like a bad decision.

Today wasn’t doing my sanity any favors either.

We were having Practical Physics and all the students had been assigned to groups of four.

Of course, the universe, in all its twisted glory, decided to pair me with Bennet, Brittney, and Avery. What an irony.

I stared at the lab table, already feeling the back of

  • Sinister Storm   Betrayal ran deep

LUCAS’S POV I took an uncertain step forward.”What’s going on Kael?” His gaze locked on Xane, assessing him with barely concealed animosity like he’d just sniffed out a threat. “Hey,” Kael said, voice tight, eyes sharp. “Hey?” I replied, confused by the sudden tension that clung to him and how hesitant he suddenly seemed. Like he didn't want to speak. He didn’t answer me, Instead, he tugged at my arm and jerked his head toward the school field. “I need a word,” he said under his breath. I glanced back at Xane, who looked mildly amused like he was watching his favorite tv show. Seriously? “Uh, sure.” I followed Kael into the field and leaned against the pole. “What’s wrong with you?” “When are you heading home?” Kael asked, skipping over my question completely. “What?” I blinked. “That’s what you pulled me aside for? I thought you said something was wrong?” He glanced behind me at Xane, then back at me. “I lied, I’m taking you home. He’s waiting.” “He?” I tilt

  • Sinister Storm   The fractured boy

LUCAS’S POVI froze the moment Avery pulled away from Bennett. The Silence hit hard, stark in the fluorescent bathroom. The door shut behind her, as she scurried out leaving the three of us in tense silence.I didn’t say a word. Bennet stood there, his hands crossed over his chest, his chest heaving slightly, half-exposed from being tangled with her. A look of defiance settled on his face like he was challenging me to say something. I wanted to vomit, to run, to punch something.Xane cleared his throat and whistled. “Well… this got interesting.”Bennet’s glare shifted to Xane first, then to me. “Never knew the school tour started in the boys’ bathroom,” he said, his voice flat.Xane stepped in, slipping a hand onto my shoulder with an ease that was a bit off putting. “I asked Lucas to take me here first. I needed a smoke.” His tone was casual and perfectly timed. Bennet narrowed his eyes on him. If looks could kill, Xane would be long dead. I still couldn't understand why Bennett w

BENNETT’S POVThe moment class ended, I grabbed Avery by the wrist and pulled her out of the classroom.“Bennet?” she blinked, startled. “Where are we—?”“Come on, you’ll see.” I snapped cutting her short. I was already halfway out the door.I didn’t wait for a response. I didn’t even care that we were attracting stares. I just needed out. Needed a space that didn’t smell like Lucas or the way the new guy had been so immersed in him. I didn't even know why I was mad. He had stared at me in class but I had ignored him. So why was I mad that someone else was giving him attention? When I had been doing everything within my power to hurt him. I’d seen him flinch every time Avery laughed too loudly. I’d seen the way his jaw clenched when I touched her, when my fingers brushed her waist, or when my mouth latched onto her throat. Every flirtatious gesture I made wasn’t for her. It was for him.I shoved the door to the empty hallway bathroom open and pulled Avery in with me.“Are you okay

  • Sinister Storm   Do what's best

BENNETT’S POV It was dinner time with my family but my mood was totally off. My fork dragged across the edge of my plate, scraping against the untouched mashed potatoes. My father was ranting about pack politics and the persistent rogue attacks. My mother hummed along in mild interest, and Zoe was feeding everyone unsolicited class gossip. Meanwhile, I just sat there, staring at them with mild disinterest. The food was warm.My family members were talking but it all felt like noise in my ears. “Bennet, you’ve barely touched your food.” My mother’s voice pulled me out of the fog. Her tone was gentle and filled with curiosity as she probed me. “I’m fine,” I replied, stabbing a piece of meat and chewing like it might help me swallow everything I wanted to scream. “Are you sure?” she pressed. “You’ve looked… off since you came back from school.” “I said I’m fine mum.” I forced a smile that probably looked more like a grimace. “Just tired. But I’ll feel better when I get some rest.

  • Sinister Storm   Figure this out

Bennett I sat in the back of the ambulance, the silver shock blanket crinkling around my shoulders like tinfoilIt didn’t make me feel any warmer. I wasn’t cold,I was just numb. The inside of the ambulance was a flurry of motion, metallic cabinets, rustling gloves, and clipped voices. I sat on the edge of the gurney while a paramedic with a tight ponytail knelt in front of me, her fingers wrapped around my wrist.“Pulse is steady,” she muttered to her partner, then looked up at me. “You with me, sweetheart?”I nodded slowly.“Good. I need you to follow the light for me.” She clicked on a small penlight and shined it in my right eye. “Eyes wide.”I blinked against the glare, but did as she asked. She repeated the motion with my left eye, then made a satisfied sound and jotted something down on a clipboard.“Any dizziness? Nausea? Trouble breathing?”“No,” I murmured.“Okay, shirt up. Let’s check for bruising.”I hesitated, then lifted my blood-speckled shirt. Her fingers were cold as
