Chapter 2

Penulis: Blue Breeze
Charlotte was reclined against the leather couch. Her pale thighs were exposed, and torn pieces of black stockings were scattered across the floor.

Everett calmly zipped up his pants, a smug smile tugging at his face.

A group of wealthy, unfamiliar young men and women stood nearby. With glasses raised, they erupted into whistles and cheers.

"Way to go, Charlotte!"

"Rett, you're the man!"

Ignoring everyone around me, I strode over to Charlotte and tossed the divorce agreement in front of her. "Sign it."

A moment of silence passed, followed by a burst of mocking laughter.

"Holy shit! This is hilarious! He's a broke guy mooching off his wife, and now he has the audacity to demand a divorce?"

"Haha! This two-pump chump suddenly thinks he's tough! Is he planning to leave empty-handed and crash under a bridge?"

"How dare a pathetic loser like him act up in front of his sugar mommy! This is ridiculous!"

Everett laughed so hard he nearly doubled over. He stepped up to me, jabbing a finger into my chest. "Have you come to your senses? You finally figured out you can't satisfy Lottie and decided to back off, huh? You should've said something earlier. I might've even thrown you a little parting gift."

Charlotte's expression soured, and she picked up the agreement from her lap. Without another look, she ripped it into pieces before tossing them into the champagne bucket.

Rising slowly, she reached out—as if calming a misbehaving pet—to smooth my wrinkled collar.

"Alright, don't make a scene. It's my fault. I shouldn't have let them talk nonsense. I'll do my best to stay home for a couple of days next month and keep you company."

She spoke as though she were doing me a tremendous favor. I quickly swatted her hand away.

How disgusting! I turned around, ready to leave this revolting place.

"Do you think you can just come and go as you please? What is this, your personal restroom?" Everett asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Without warning, he deliberately stuck out his foot. I fell forward with a heavy thud. The moment my ear collided with the metal edge of the airplane seat, a warm liquid started to flow from my ear canal.

The searing pain and humiliation caused the anger I'd been bottling up for three years to burst forth all at once.

"You've got some nerve, bastard!"

Like a frenzied beast, I swung a punch straight at Everett's face. Chaos instantly swallowed the cabin.

With his larger build, Everett quickly seized the upper hand. He pinned me beneath him and tore my shirt open.

The instant he noticed the red birthmark on the left side of my chest, he froze in place.

"Knock it off!" Charlotte's sharp voice cut through the chaos. She turned to check Everett's injuries. "Rett, are you okay?"

Avoiding everyone's gaze, I staggered off the plane. That same day, I handed in my resignation.

I grabbed my phone and booked two plane tickets back to my hometown. I didn't want to remain in this wretched place for even a second longer.

Three months later, Wright Group held its annual shareholders' meeting. This was the final day of judgment I had prepared for them. The conference room was crowded with shareholders and reporters alike.Everett sat next to me like a lifeless puppet. Charlotte was there as well, gaining entry through a reporter she knew. She had lost a lot of weight. Her eyes held fear, along with a faint, unrealistic glimmer of hope.I stepped up to the podium, but instead of discussing the company's performance, I had my assistant display a document on the big screen—two DNA paternity test reports from professional laboratories. The results revealed a 99.99% DNA match between me and Wright Group's founder, Patrick Wright. Everett's sample, however, showed no blood relation to him at all.A heavy silence filled the room. Everett shot to his feet and pointed at me. "It's fake! Everything is fake! You fabricated the evidence! I'm the rightful son of the Wright family!" he yelled in a frenzy.Ignorin

Charlotte went completely mad searching for me. She refused to accept that everything that had happened was mere coincidence. On a cold, rainy night, she finally cornered me at the entrance of my apartment building. She was soaked through, her makeup smeared and running. She stood there like a discarded stray, every trace of her former pride and arrogance erased completely."It was you, wasn't it?" She clutched my sleeve tightly, staring at me with bloodshot eyes. "You're the one who exposed my father and brought down Everett! This entire mess is your doing!"Holding my umbrella, I looked down at her. My gaze remained calm and unwavering. "You're right," I admitted without hesitation.Charlotte staggered, nearly losing her footing. She couldn't believe that the man who once obeyed her every whim would go to such ruthless lengths to destroy everything she had."But why?" she cried out hoarsely, her tears mixing with the rain as they fell. "Jacob, I admit I haven't been good to you,

The scandal at the airshow hit like a massive earthquake, rattling Wright Group to its very core. Stock prices plunged, infuriating the board of directors. At the same time, the Erapan route plan was immediately halted, and Everett was stripped of his position as heir. And I—the mysterious man who had dismantled Wright Group's billion-dollar project in a matter of minutes—was welcomed back by the board as a Wallace Street elite and appointed Vice President of the group. I would temporarily take over all of Everett's responsibilities. The slow march of vengeance had officially begun. Rather than dismissing Everett outright, I kept him in a nominal role as special advisor.I made him come to the office every day, forcing him to watch as I steadily absorbed his network, claimed his business, and turned the very subordinates who once fawned over him into those who now bowed to me.The company he once regarded as a mere plaything was reborn and rose to unprecedented heights under my c

Though Everett felt unsettled under my gaze, he forced a mask of bravado. "Y-You're Jacob Schwarz? Holy shit, you're not dead!""Jacob Schwarz?" I gave a quiet, contemptuous laugh. "You've got it wrong. My last name is Wright—Jacob Wright."Ignoring him, I shifted my focus to Gerald Hyland, the CEO of Erape's largest airline. I spoke fluently to him in Gurman and pinpointed several major flaws in Everett's current route plan—issues I could identify at a glance from my experience as a top air traffic controller.Gerald's expression grew increasingly grim, while Everett's face flushed crimson. He tried to interject, only to find himself unable to form a complete sentence in Gurman. At that moment, a video abruptly lit up the big screen. It showed Everett on a private jet with a seductive female influencer, indulging in illegal substances. In the background, his arrogant laughter echoed. "Screw this Erapan route! It's nothing but a front to siphon money from the company. Those old ge

It was late at night. Weary and drained, Charlotte forced herself to sort through Everett's dirty clothes. She reached into the pocket of his expensive suit and pulled out a crumpled stack of receipts. Her hand froze. The receipts showed purchases from luxury shops, bars, and nightclubs well known across the city for their "special services".The dates were plainly marked on every receipt. They coincided with the day my father's accident took place, from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.A sharp ringing filled Charlotte's ears. Everett had spent the hours after the incident drowning himself in drinking, gambling, and debauchery. The guilt he spoke of was not real, and neither was the fear he claimed to feel. His "love" for her was the biggest joke of all. From beginning to end, Everett felt no remorse for the innocent life that was lost. The tears he had poured at her feet were mere crocodile tears—a way to get himself off the hook. For such a cold, selfish, and deceitful man, Charlotte had c

In my absence, Everett believed he had come out on top. He no longer pretended to be the lover who brought excitement and novelty. He boldly moved into Charlotte's and my home, acting as though he were the head of the household. He wore my bathrobe, took over my study, and lay in the bed I had once slept in. He would frequently invite friends over for extravagant parties, flaunting his status and lifestyle. After handling urgent matters, Charlotte would drag her exhausted body home. However, what awaited her now was no longer a steaming bowl of soup—it was a room alive with chaos and earsplitting music.A surge of anger shot through her. She strode over and turned off the music. "Leave! All of you!" With a cold, icy expression, she dismissed the rich heirs.Feeling humiliated, Everett snapped, "Charlotte, what the hell are you doing? Have you lost your mind?"Staring at the trash scattered across the floor, Charlotte forced down her anger. "Look at what you've done to this plac
