Chapter 8: Feelings Untold (Part Two)

“ A little while, my princess. Just for a little while.” They eat silently for a brief moment. “ You love him, don’t you?” She asked, breaking the silence.

“ Isn’t it obvious? I do love him, Erica, I mean I’m crazy over him already.”

“ Not minding he is the one who almost killed you thirteen years ago?”

“ I did mind about that before, but now, I don’t think I do. Love can make you do a lot of things, you know.”

“ I understand.” She smiled.

“ What?” Diana asked.

“ All the whole time you talked about his majesty, you have been blushing. I think his majesty needs to see you in this manner.”

“ Erica? He’s gonna think I’m crazy or something. Why would you want me blushing in front of him?”

She shrugged. “ I don’t know. You know, you look beautiful when you blush. I bet he’ll fall in love with you when he sees you. . . Blush.”

Diana chuckled, rolling her eyes.

Soon they heard the sound of the entrance door bang open, catching the two girl’s attention. From the dinning room they could hear his voice. He didn’t sound okay, his voice alone spoke of how angry he was.

The both girls look at each other. “That doesn’t sound good to me.” Erica said as she shook her head.

“ Do you think something bad has happened?” Diana asked.

“ No, but I think someone offended him.”

“What happens when he gets angry?” She asked again.

“ A lot of things happen. No one can withstand him when he does, or you will end up getting what you don’t deserve.”

“ Like getting killed?”

“ Exactly.”

“ But, I can still talk to him. Someone has to calm him down or he ends up hurting himself or others.” Diana suggested.

“ Your highness, even if you do want to talk to him, I suggest you should wait until he is calm or you end up getting hurt.”

“ If I want to love him the more, or if I want him to love me back the way I want, now is when I have to start showing some concern towards him.” She left the dinning room to his room.

She stood before the door, she just realized that she still haven’t learned his name yet and she had forgotten to ask Erica for it.

She knocked on his door, but there came no reply from the inside. “Your majesty, it is I, Diana.” She didn’t hear any footsteps approaching but the door somehow opened by itself.

She swallowed hard, but comported herself. He was standing by the window, usually with his both hands in his pocket. “You shouldn’t be here.” His deep voice sounded, creating fear in her body.

“ Yes, but, I think I am now.” She said, frightened. “ If you think I shouldn’t be here, why then did you open the door for me?”

He said nothing.

“ I don’t know what or who got you angry but, you have to calm down. Those people you just yelled at, they don’t deserve it, you know.”

“ What do you know about deserve?” He turns to her, his face wore a frown. She has never seen him frown before. He walks close to her. “You don’t know anything or anyone, you should stay out of this.”

Diana was hurt in her heart. She knows she didn’t know everyone or anything yet, but she is trying to.

“I know. . . I know I’m still a newbie to everything that is going on here or anyone, but I am trying to help.” She said tearfully.

“ I don’t need your help, I have been into this like for years now. You know nothing about understanding or. . .”

“ Or what?”

“ You shouldn’t be here.” He turns away from her, walking back to the window.

“ Every night I wonder how my life has been in here. I try to believe my life is safe being in the fortress with the wolves. I try to understand that no matter what, we all are one. But then, when I think of you, I feel like I’m a hostage. I don’t know why you’re avoiding me and I don’t care, but please let me help you.”

He made no comment.

She walks to his front, standing before him. She shyly touches his cheek, “I can help you. Let me help you.”

He grabbed her hand, squeezing it tight. Diana moaned painfully, tears rolled out of her eyes down to her cheeks. But then he stopped, holding her hand like he didn’t want her to let go.

He touched her tears with the tip of his thumb, “Why do you cry for me?” He asked. “Why do you want to help me?”

She did know what to say but the words were just difficult to leave her mouth.

“I wish you can read my mind.” She said almost like a whisper.

He stared deep into her eyes, reading through her thoughts. Every conversation she had with Erica, and every words she wished to say to him, he saw them all. He thought he was the only one who felt hurt at the moment, but when he had read her mind, he realized she bore unbearable pains in her heart.

“Why would you hurt yourself for my sake? I haven’t been able to prove myself to you, why would you do such a thing to yourself?”

The tears couldn’t let her talk, all she could do was to cry. She wants him to realize himself. She wants him to understand that she wouldn’t do it for anyone but for him.

Despite knowing him for a few days, to her, it felt like a year. “B—because. . . I. . . I love you.” She said confidently.

He held the back of her neck, pulling her into his arms, hugging her dearly. Diana wept in his arms, and he didn’t mind her tears stain his shirt.

“Maybe I was too scared to understand my feelings. For years I thought of you in my arms. I imagine myself standing with you, watching you happy. But I feel scared all those imaginations, all those dreams will be shattered if the past has to take you away from me. I was scared you’d look me in the eye and call me a monster for hurting you, but now I know you care the same for me. You are mine, Diana, and nothing. . . no one can take you away from me.”
