Diana stood by the window, staring down the street. He walked out of the building, hopping into a black car twice longer than a carriage, which she recently learnt that it was a Limo.

She had a white cloth in her hand, with a needle she used to patch it.

“Does he always go out this early?” She asked Erica who was busy with the bed.

“Yes, most times.” She answered.

“But why? Does something always happen in the morning?” She took her gaze off the window, turning to Erica.

“ No. He always goes out to work every morning and returns at night. Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed that since you came here.”

“ Nah. Then, I don’t think I seem to care about anything. Plus, I didn’t know him then.” She looked back at the window, watching as the car slowly drove off. “What type of work is that?”

“An office work as they do call it.”

“ What is an office?” She asked, Erica rose an eyebrow at her. “ What? I grew up in a local town, remember?”

“Well, an office is a room or apartment in a building where workers stays and work.” She explained.

“ So, he works in an office for someone?” She asked again.

“No. People work for him. All he does is to supervise them and at the end of every month he pays them their salary.”

“ When you said people work for him, do you mean he is a boss or something?”

“ Yeah. But out there, they call them CEOs. Which means Chief Executive Officer.” She said in detail.

She mistakenly pinched the needle in her skin, she screamed, dropping it to the ground. “Aaahh. . !!”

“What is it?” Erica asked, dropping what she was doing to check on her. “Did you hurt yourself?”

“Yeah, but I’ll be fine. It’s just a scratch.” She licked her hand to prevent the blood from rolling out. “ It doesn’t hurt much.” She grinned.

Erica sighs in relief, returning back to what she was doing. “Do you mind if we have breakfast together?” Diana asked.

Erica again stopped what she was doing, glaring surprisingly at Diana who’s affected finger was still in her mouth.

“ You don’t mind?” She asked to be sure.

“No. I. . . I uhmm. . . it’s my first time ever dining with a royal.” She admitted.

“ Well, I ain’t a royal yet so, do me the favour of dining with me.”

Erica smiled. “ My pleasure.”

THE UNDERGROUND***

*

Lucifer stood up from his throne, sniffed in like he had just perceived the aromatic smell of the foods in the kitchen. His inner self growled, and his royal councils who were with him noticed that.

One of the councils asked. “Master, is there a problem?”

The sudden silence of Lucifer brought nothing but worries to the faces of those who were staring at him, patiently waiting for a reply.

“I smell something. I smell blood.” He finally said. “ I smell the blood of the one I know. One so dear to me. That scent, but where is it coming from?” He asked no one in particular.

The councils all glared at themselves, but said nothing to each other.

“Who is this dear one you speak of?” They asked.

“My Selena has awoken. I can feel her presence, she is alive.” He said excitedly.

Again, they looked at each other but none said a word to the other.

“Your majesty, we watched her majesty die a hundred years ago. How is it possible that she is alive and the fortress doesn’t know about it?” Asked his prime minister.

“ My Selena isn’t in the fortress with us. She is somewhere else, far away from us, but I can still feel her. I must find her, and I will bring her back home to us.” He growled.

“ Your majesty.” They all bowed their heads.

“ What should we do, Your Majesty?” The prime minister asked.

“ Prepare my journey, I’ll be leaving to the human world by tomorrow.” He ordered.

“ Yes, your majesty.” They all bowed again, exiting the royal hall one after the other.

Lucifer left his throne to the room where he had buried his wife’s body. He shifted the cover of the coffin box, staring sorrowfully at the decayed body in it.

Selena was his wife since the day he took after his father, The Devil. And for a thousand years, she has ruled the kingdom alongside him.

He has never stopped mourning her, and he believes that one day she will come back to him. And now that he can feel her presence, he will stop at nothing to bring her back home. . . back to himself.

He caressed her bones, dropping a kiss on her forehead. “I am coming for you. I will find you and bring you home, my love.” He whispered.

AT THE MIDNIGHT PACK***

*

“So, you said you haven’t dined with a royal before?” She asked, grinding on the food in her mouth.

“Never before. This is my first precisely.”

“ Oh, I see.” She sipped on her drink, dropping it back on the table. “ I’ve spent almost half of my life here and I keep wondering if I am truly destined to be his mate.”

“ Who?” Erica asked, dragging with her meat. “ His majesty?”

Diana nodded. “ I read in one of the books in the library that when a girl is marked by a werewolf, it means she is his own. . . forever.”

“ That is true.” Erica agreed.

“ But, I’ve lived here for thirteen years and. . . it’s like I’m being kept as a hostage for what I did in the past. I feel like this is a punishment. I looked him in the eyes, hoping to see something different from just those normal glares. I couldn’t see anything different. I feel like I’m the only one who feels strange towards him.

Every night I close my eyes, all I can see is his face in my mind. Like it’s taking dominion over my conscience. And when I wake up, I hope to see those dreams come true but. . . it never does. I’m the only one imagining it all happening.” She sniffed.

“ I thought that one day, when I am far away from my parents I will experience a different kind of love.” She shook her head, sniffing hard. “ I feel like I am empty. I want to be loved, Erica, and I want to love. I want someone to look me in the eye and tell me that I am special. That he can’t do without me.

I want to share someone’s pains and hurt and I want someone to feel the same about me. I know. . . I know I ain’t perfect and beautiful but. . . I want someone to tell me that I deserve it all. That I deserve to be loved and cared for.”

Erica silently wept for her pains. Seeing Diana cry made her cry too. She could feel the pains in those words, the hurts. And she understands that.

“My princess, I do understand how you feel. We all want to feel that way, but sometimes it’s not who we think or who we want that we always end up with. Fate can be so annoying sometimes, but it can never let us die without finding love. You will find this love you hope for, just a little patience, my princess.”

“ How long do I have to wait for fate? How long do I have to wait for my own to come?”
