Chapter 9: Selena My Love

★ ★ ★ ★

“I think you should get some rest.” Diana whispered, breaking the hug.

“I don’t wanna sleep.” He whispered back.

“ You have to.” She insisted. “ You look tired and distressed. I don’t want you looking like this all day. “

His eyes looked heavy but he didn’t want to accept the fact that he was feeling sleepy. She held his hand, assisting him to the bed. He laid down on the bed, Diana covered him with the blanket.

“I’ll check you up at noon.” She said about to leave, he grabbed her hand and in a whisper, he said;

“Don’t go, stay with me.”

“I. . .” She sighed softly. “I will stay. “

He didn’t close his eyes until he had seen she is sitting beside him. Slowly, he let himself to be pulled by sleep.

Diana watched him sleep soundly. He looks handsome when he sleeps and those long lashes made him look more beautiful.

She made sure he was deep in sleep before she thought of leaving the room. She went to meet Erica in the kitchen.

“Your highness you shouldn’t be here.” Erica said, dragging her out of the kitchen.

“ Why? “

“ Because you are not supposed to be in here.” They stood outside the kitchen. “ How is his majesty?” She asked.

“ He’s asleep.”

“ So? “ She asked, knowing there was something else she wanted to say.

“ I need to talk to the driver.”

“What?”

“Yes. Now his majesty is asleep, this is my only opportunity to leave the fortress. I need to go out for shopping.”

“ Seriously? Your highness, this is the craziest idea I have ever heard in years. What if he wakes up and asks of you, what am I supposed to tell him?”

“ Nothing. You are supposed to say nothing to him.”

“ Jesus Christ. You know this thing you are about to do will get me fired.”

“ No one is firing you, Erica, trust me.”

“ You know, I wanna trust you but, I don’t think I can trust his sleep. So, I have made up my mind to follow you. It’s better I get fired than stoned to death if something bad ever happens to you. Trust me, I’ve seen a lot of that happen in this kingdom. “

“ I was wondering when you’d say that. Come on, let’s get dressed.”

“ You still haven’t talked with the driver yet.” Erica reminded.

“ Well, I’ll let you do the talking yourself.”

“ Where to, your highness?” Asked the driver.

“Take us to the mall in town.” Diana said as they both entered the car.

“Yes, ma’am.” He started the engine, zooming out of the compound.

“What does it looks like outside MidNight pack?” Diana asked with excitement. She was gonna leave the fortress for the first time since years.

“Beautiful. Everything about the town is so beautiful. Trust me, you will love it and wish not to come back. “

“ So, what’s up about the shopping? What exactly are we going to buy?” She asked.

“ Seriously, I should be asking you that. You’re the one who brought up the idea, remember?” She remembered something. “ Let me ask, do you even have cash with you?”

Diana widened her eyes. “Oh no, I forgot to bring cash. Wait, where in the devil’s name am I supposed to get the money from?”

Erica slapped her forehead. “ Kill me now. We must go back and do something about it.”

“No way, it’s not necessary anymore. What if he wakes up by the time we head back home? This shopping will be cancelled forever.”

“ No. Well to me, I think it’s necessary because our asses will be saved from punishment.”

Diana thought of it, though it was a good idea but she can’t risk her only opportunity. “Why don’t we call this outing a sight see rather?” She suggested.

“Sounds better to me.”

The driver drove them to the shopping mall, halting at the front of the building. “If you don’t mind waiting here, for a while. Thanks.” She shuts the door, not waiting for the response of the driver, and filled with excitement, they ran inside.

“ Wow! “ Diana gasped, testing each necklaces on her neck. “This is so beautiful. How much for this?” She asked the seller.

“ Hundred dollars for one single necklace and for two, it’s two hundred dollars. “ He informed.

“ A hundred dollar for just this? Jesus Christ, this is so costly. “ She drops it back on the table about to leave when someone said behind her,

“Why don’t you want the necklace, it’s so beautiful.” The both ladies turned to look at the young gentleman behind them.

“ Yeah, thanks but we don’t have enough money for it. We’ll just find something lesser.” Diana said, signalling Erica that they should get going.

“ How much for one?” He asked the seller.

“ A hundred dollar, sir. “

“ Let me have two for the two ladies.” He requested.

Diana and Erica both stare at themselves, then shrugged.

The seller handed the two necklaces over to them and they tested it on their neck. When they saw it was good on them, they thanked him and left.

“Wow! That guy is such a god sent. Thank goodness we didn’t leave on time.” She looked at Erica’s neck. “ You look almost like a princess.”

“ His majesty will kill me if he finds out I am putting on your clothes.”

“ Does he always have to kill people for little things which actually mean nothing?” She wondered. “ I guess he won’t because he is still asleep.”

Though they did spend enough of their time outside together, yet, Diana made sure they were back home before he woke. Erica quickly changed to her maiden gown.

“This is the best freedom I have ever had in years. Thanks for joining me.” She thanked.

“ It’s my pleasure to keep the princess safe.” She returns to her duty.

She sat before her mirror, caressing the necklace. It looks beautiful, so beautiful that she admired it even when she had it on her neck.

The young gentleman left the mall as soon as he bought the necklace for the two young ladies. He walks directly to a car packed angle 90 degree from the mall.

He stood by the left side of the back door. The window slowly wings down, stopping halfway. Only the hat of the figure inside could be seen.

“How was it?” Asked the figure inside.

“It went well, Sir. I have given them the necklace.”

“Do they have it on?” He asked.

“ Yes, Master. They wore it right in front of me.”

“ Good job, Nicu.” They waited until Diana and Erica were out of the mall.

“Who do you suspect to be her majesty, sir?” Nicu asked.

“The girl on blue, “ referring to Diana. “ She is my Selena. She is alive.” He smiled.
