Chapter 6

Cairo’s

“You can’t make me marry someone, Sullivan.” I smirked and throw a punch to his side. He kneeled on the ground, coughing. Good for him, he deserves it.

“But it is stated in his will.”

I stretch my neck and crack my knuckles, preparing to give him another blow.

How can that man do that to me? He’s now six feet below the ground yet, he can still give me a headache. I thought I was his favorite grandchild?

“I am telling the truth, Cairo,” he continued. “Please don’t do this or else-”

I cut his words.

“Or else? What? You’ll call the cops?” I laughed. Seeing him so pathetic with just a punch is really hilarious. Just like his position in my chess game, he can just move a block every turn.

“No, I have to dissolve your name from your inheritance, and give it to your mother.” This time it was his time to smile.

I cocked my brow and glanced at the sky. This man is really a pain in the ass.

“If you can do it, then you really are prepared to meet your doom,” I stated in a cold tone. Without any remorse, I hastily give him a series of punch in the face.

“I won’t kill you because I have mercy. You are still part of my game, Jonathan Sullivan.”

With that I left him, leaning in his car weakly. Gasping for air, almost falling lying in the dirty cold floor of the parking lot. He can just be there for all he wants, I don’t care.

I throw my cigarette butt, and fished my car keys. I opened my car and turn the engine on. I drove away from the cemetery, and headed towards the capital of the region.

That old man must have known my plan all along. Maybe he gave me this burden so that I can be in his shoes too. Well I’ve started my game too soon to see this obstacle, but that doesn’t mean I will give in to his manipulation.

Arturo, you can rot in hell now. I will take care of your remaining money and use it against your children.

I drove for hours before I reached my destination. I parked my car along the road. I don't have plans on staying in this place for too long. Wearing my glasses on, I went out and walked inside the largest building in this block.

Liquor and cigarettes filled my nostrils as I made my way to the counter. A faint sound of jazz was played in the background along with women's laugh. I settled in a leather couch that was located near the center stage. A server immediately went towards my place to get my order.

“Scotch please.” I ordered and roamed the whole place. I smirked as I remembered that this is no ordinary pub. Many who’ve come here wants something other than drinks or girls. They want allies moreover; they want power to dig graves for their enemies.

“Here’s your scotch.” The server placed the half empty glass of scotch on the table.

“Where’s Sunny?” I asked her. She smiled warily and used her index finger to point someone behind me.

“What do you want from me?” she asked upon recognizing me. She’s wearing her leather jacket and leather pants. Her boots is shimmering with glow, as if glitters were poured to it.

“Find me every woman that you find suitable for my taste.” I commanded her and she suppressed a grin. I cock my brow and glared. Her pink pixie cut hair is unevenly tied with different little scrunchies. Somewhat, I suspect a child did it.

“Funny, someone asked me to find about something last week,” she said and sit in the leather couch. A tequila shot is in her hand.

We are inside a pub that she owns under a fake name. No one around here knows about her true name, other than me. And I feel honored to know that she can trust me.

“What about it?” I asked amusedly. Usually, I won’t pay any attention about her escapades. But this one caught my attention.

“You are interested?” she asked and smiled. Her wine lipstick covered her whole lips making her cute when she smiles. “Hmm”

“That someone asked me about a certain man in your family,” Sumeria stated amusedly. I drink the scotch that I ordered.

Sumeria doesn’t give any information about her clients and their whereabouts. Even if it is related to murder, she won’t tell a soul about what she knows. Not unless, if it is related to her personal life.

“What did this ‘someone’ asked exactly?” My curiosity was over the top. Now that she laughed maniacally, I know that somehow it is related to her. She even showed her banded knuckles.

“That ‘someone’ even pushed me to my limits. Talking about me, saying things like running away and abandonment.” She scoffed and drinks her tequila shot.

After a gulp, she smashed the shot glass on the table, sending glass shards flying in the whole furniture.

“Well she is far worst!” She screamed. I shook my head and drink my remaining scotch in the glass that I was holding. I don’t know the whole story how this woman became lost, when she had everything before. But seeing her like this is enough to remind me how broken she is.

“How so?” I asked and placed the empty glass on the table. I made no sound, unlike her and her klutzy ways.

“That damn girl even tried to kill her baby!” She shouted at me. She’s fuming mad, like she is ready to kill someone, any minute from now. Red is evident in her eyes and if she can see that ‘someone’ right now, I bet I will attend another funeral.

“Maybe you should kill her for that reason, if that annoys you too much.” I shrugged and she just went silent.

If the human ticks her too much, then maybe she can end its life. Sumeria was trained to kill. Killing a sinner is no strange feeling for her and I won’t stop her for that. After all, some leeches don’t deserve to walk in this earth a second longer.

“I wish I could do that, Cairo,” she muttered and look at me intently, “but I believe that you need her.”

  Emilia’s

I slammed the door of my car and went inside the Royal Palaces’ lobby. Stomping my foot while tapping my phone continuously is not enough to let everyone know that I am pissed. I even glared at each person that I can get my eyes on.

My day is almost perfect. I just a had a date with the famous actor I met during one of my

Gig, Kean Farrusco. But after that overly romantic flirting, I received a message from this annoying human, again!

Damn it!

I will really sue that idiot for doing this to me!

If I have the ability to kill that sender, maybe they are dead by now!

I smashed the elevator buttons.

“Why is this taking so long?!” I screamed when it says that is still on its way going down.

The employees looked at me with nervous. They are afraid that I might destroy the elevator. Well, damn it! I can pay for the damage!

“Miss De Lapaz, please calm down.” A woman from the front desk came over.

I gave her a deadly glare and roared, “Calm down? Am I not allowed to express my rage over this damn slow elevator?”

She lowered her head and muttered sorry. I breathe heavily and faced the other direction. I don’t want to hurt them with my words or with my actions. Furthermore, this feeling of mine can’t be controlled. I might end up in a cell room if they continue to ‘calm me down’.

“Just let me be. I will pay for the damage,” I hissed, “If that concerns you so much.”

I heard no response from her. Few minutes had passed and the elevator made a ting.

“Finally!” I declared and immediately made a step inside. I swiped my card that leads me towards the floor of my unit.

“How did this idiot knew about this?” I asked myself in front of the metallic walls.

“No one knew about this other than me.”

“No one!”

I continued to scream until I reached my point. I leaned on the elevator wall. My body is facing the metallic door that will be opened soon as I reach my floor. Good thing that I am wearing my oversized pants and hoodie, in that way I can comfortably do my thing here.

That sender really knows how to trigger me. After three weeks of giving me grief with that message, now they will send me a photo to make me feel rage.

Who are they exactly?

Why me?

They can pick anyone. Anybody!

  But they chose me.

Why?

I hugged my knees and bowed my head. I suppress a scream as my tears were flowing endlessly from my eyes. Rage is all over me.

I looked at my phone once again and saw the picture they sent.

It is a photo of me and the man I loathe the most. He is kissing me on the lips while showing our intertwined hands on the camera. We were both wearing a simple silver band accessory in our ring finger. A happy couple, if only it wasn’t me as the subject of that photo.

Unknown Number:

What a lovely couple! Congratulations in your wedding!

I throw my phone to the floor and it shattered. Meanwhile, I exploded in anger.

“Damn you!”

I continued to hug myself on the cold floor. My breath is rigid and anytime soon I might pass out. I continue to swallow my sob and focused on calming down. But it never happened. My vision became blurry and my head is spinning.

The last thing I heard was a ting and a shriek, before I lost consciousness.
