Chapter 7

“Is she okay?”

“Hush.”

“I am asking you if she is okay.”

“She’s not!”

I opened my eyes due to the annoying voices I can here.

“Can you please shut up?” I groaned and look at them one by one. I can smell the disinfectant and the chemicals around the air. White there are white painted walls and a big window on my right.

“She’s awake!” Marco screamed.

Wait? Marco?

He’s here?

How?

Why?

“Hurry call the doctor!” Helene immediately left the room to call a doctor.

“Where am I?” I asked Marco, who’s on his knees praying to me like I was a saint. He kept muttering, ‘Thank God.’ And I don’t know why.

“Marco Levin!” I called his attention. He look at me with shock as if he’d seen a ghost. I rolled my eyes on his reaction and used my hand to wack his head.

“God! You are awake!” He thanked. I glared at him and showed my clenched fist. He immediately took a step back.

“You know, for someone who woke up after passing out in the elevator you are quite sadistic,” he blurted.

“Of course, I am always like this.” I forced myself to sit on the bed. So I really did pass out after in the elevator. That damn that anonymous sender!

“You never passed out before, Emilia.” He said. I click my tongue to express my annoyance. He really is an idiot sometimes. How can he forget that I did passed out when I was in college.

“Wait-”

Before he can say a thing the door opened and a doctor rushed in along with the nurses and Helene.

“Hello Miss Emilia. How are you feeling?” the doctor  said after checking my vital signs. The nurses on the other hand arrange the furnitures and a bunch of flowers from my fans.

So, the press knew that The Great Emilia De Lapaz passed out in the elevator.

“I am doing fine, thank you.” I replied.

“Do you want to eat something?” he asked again.

I gave him a blank stare. “No.”

“How about the room?”

“What about it?”

“Do you like it?”

“No.” I answered. I clenched my fist in annoyance and smiled at him sarcastically. I glanced at Helene and gave her a ‘what the heck is this?’ look. She knew that I am getting annoyed.

“What? Why?” I closed my eyes at his question. He is not satisfied and even added, “Do you want to be transferred to another suite?”

“Can’t you be less annoying?” I asked him directly. He is getting into my nerves, asking too many unrelated questions.

“I-I I’m sorry,” he stammered.

I raised my brow and look at him intently, waiting for his answer.

“It’s just. You are my idol.” He smiled and gave me a pen and paper.

“Is that a discharge form?” I asked him. He bit his lip as he blush in embarrassment. I can see Marco from my peripheral vision, trying his best to contain his laugh. The nurses continued arranging their flowers, but I know that they are eavesdropping this conversation.

“Doctor Lee wants your autograph, Miss.” Helene butted in. My gaze shifted towards her and gave her a shocked look, even though I wasn’t shock.

“Is that so?” I clarified. Helene nodded and gave me a pleading look.

“Yes Miss Emilia. I really prayed that somehow I can meet you in person,” the doctor explained and continued to stretch his arms to give me his pen and paper.

Even though I am cold-hearted, I am not that bratty to refuse a fan. After all, he is also my doctor. Lets just be reminded that this is a give and take situation too.

I opened my right palm to received the pen and paper. I signed it with my my initial and gave it to him. “I hope this is enough to thank you.”

“This much appreciated ,Miss Emilia,” he grinned, showing his perfectly white teeth.

“So, when am I going out from this place, Doc?” I inquired. “I can’t wait to leave this place.”

“Tomorrow, Miss,” he answered. It was more of a sing than an answer. Maybe he is still overjoyed that he received my signature. Good, because I don’t do it for free.

“Good.” I clapped my hand gracefully.

“How is she, Doc?” Helene took his attention. Another good thing. I don’t want to talk to him anymore. He just drained my energy with his positivity.

“So far, she is recovering well.” He smiled and glance at me. “But she needs to avoid stress and toxicity for quite some time.”

“Is that all, Doctor?” This time Marco joined the conversation and winked at the one they call Doctor Lee.

“Yes, sir.”

“Oh please! Do call me, Marco.” Marco flirted. The doctor awkwardly laugh and excused himself along with his nurses.

“Good thing they left.” I rolled my eyes at Helene’s statement.

“Oh come on!” Marco rejects and added, “Doctor Richard Lee is too cute to be annoying.”

I face palmed and Helene awkwardly sighed. We refuse to look at his direction.

“You’re so mean!”

I glared at the bird who passed by the window. It’s almost night. The orange skies slowly changed to a dark blanket of stars.

“How long was I out?” I wondered as I continued to stare at the view.

“Two days,” I heard Helene sighed.

Two days.

I just wasted two days. That damn sender really knew how to make me paralyze in my seat. How can they do this to me?!

My fist turned into a ball.

“Hey, hey.” Marco grabbed my attention. His eyes were wide open.

“What?” I asked.

“I contacted your father,” he stated and look at me with shock.

“And?”

“He said that you should report to him tomorrow after your discharge.”

“What? Why?” I am confused. Usually, my dad don’t give a shit about my whereabouts not unless it is related to my career. He even forgets my birthdays and every special event that I hold personal in my heart.

“I don’t know.” He shrugs. “Should I ask him?”

He scrolled to his phone again and type something.

“No need.”

“Oops!” he squealed.

“What?”

“I just sent it to your father!”

“Huh?”

Okay. I am confused. What is he talking about?

“I told him that you’re asking why you need to report to him,” he explained. I groaned and close my eyes to stop myself form shouting at him.

“You are such-”

A knock interrupted my supposed scold at him.

“What?” I yelled.

Helene who’s watching TV, stood up and opened the door. “Come in.”

I glared at the man who just entered the suite. His black coat and black cowboy hat covered his identity but his perfume is enough to let me know his identity.

“What are you doing here?” I snarled. He clicks his tongue and walk towards my bed.

“Is that how you welcome your visitors?” he asked. Amusement glittered in his dark hooded eyes. I physical asset I didn’t inherit from him.

“I don’t need to repeat myself twice, dad.” There’s acid in my mouth. If Cairo is in the top of my hate to death list, my dad ranks first in the annoying to death list.

“You’re still mean.” He shook his head. I breathe and rolled my eyes.

Don’t get me wrong. I am thankful that he is my dad. His riches gives me power and fame but his annoyance as my boss is too much. I mean, he’s acting like a father too, but most of the time he is my boss.

Being a daughter of a CEO is not fun at all. Instead of giving me a princess and VIP treatment, I was treated like scraps when I first entered the company. And thanks to my beauty and wits, I am now one of the people on top of the food chain. I work hard for my success!

“I am here to personally inform you about your vacation,” he announced.

“So now you’re giving me a vacation just because I passed out in the elevator?” I sarcastically asked him. He laughed and sit at the chair near my bed.

“You bet.”

“Yeah whatever, Mr. CEO.”

I heard Marco chuckled and Helene sighed. I glared at them at stared at my dad like he has grown two heads.

“I assure you. You will have the vacation you deserve.”

I faked gasps then made a serious face. “You’re kidding.”

“Sadly, I am not.”

I scoffed. I know him, he won’t take no for an answer. And if you responded yes, prepare yourself for something called ‘mission’. For him, everything is a game. He can manipulate us like pawns bowing to their king. Even if I am his daughter, I am no exception to that rule.

“What’s the catch?” I asked.

A proud smile is written in his face. “Attend the Clan Reunion.”

“Where?” Marco asked.

I rolled my eyes when he butted in.

“Seviwood.”

“You’re kidding right?” I asked dad.

“I’m not.”

Seviwood, huh? A province where the Buenavistas rule like gods. My clan is really dumb in picking that place. They can choose any province or city in this country, yet they chose Seviwood. Great!

“How many days is it?” I shifted my position to look at his eyes intently.

“About a week.”

“How about my vacation?”

“A month to wherever you want,” he answered. I smiled sarcastically at his offer.

This gives me enough time to relax and find that damn anonymous sender!

“Looks like I have no choice, but to agree.” This time I smiled wickedly. He grinned and handed me the contract. Every time my dad makes a deal, a contract is needed. This is to ensure that no one messes with him.

I signed the paper and gave it to him. We shake our hands like how I use to do when I receive a new contract.

“Seviwood. Here I come, again.” I muttered beneath my breath.
